| We all know the famous ''Big 3'' in anime. But if we make a Big 3 based in the romance genre. What's your Big 3 romance anime? For me, Oregairu and Fruits Basket are clear, but got problems with the last one. Probably would go for Kaguya-sama: Love is War, although I consider it more a comedy than a romance show. There's a lot like Golden Time, Horimiya (despite the pace it got, still a solid romance anime), Bunny Girl Senpai, Wotakoi or Maid Sama, but I don't think they're as popular as the other ones. ***Haven't seen Clannad or Nana. Also didn't want to include Toradora or Your Lie in April bc I didn't liked them, even though they might be the most known romance anime out there. So the ''Big 3'' would be like this. (based popularity-rating) If it's MY big 3, I would take Love is War and put Bunny Girl Senpai, Wotakoi or Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry. It's a shame that the 3 have just 1 season. |

Next up afterwards are Your Lie in April, SAO 2, Elfen Lied, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon and Clannad. I don't think the OP intends to count SAO they intend for the 'Big 3' to be shows that are specifically about romance. In that case, I don't know. Edit: didn't see the "your" in the question. Personally, I'd say The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, Toradora, and Ouran High School Host Club. |

| My top 3 picks for romance wold be: Bokuben: We Never Learn Golden Time Campione With honourable mentions for Kamisama Kiss, Tonikawa and Tamako Love Story. Did I miss something, Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou, is one of the worst romance stories I've ever seen. It's an interesting story but there's no actual romance, just adoration from one person to another (unless there's a huge development in the OVA which I haven't seen yet). You could see romance developing in about a year or two but nothing really happens, apart from that one scene where Ritsu saves Usa when he's working in a cafe, but that's it. Good show but hugely disappointing in the romance department imo. |

I never feel any connection between the characters in those expect in a very superficial way. NANA really explores the often extremely complicated nature of relationships between adults. Maison Ikkoku is the definitive slow burn romance. City Hunter has the best will they wont they, we all know they should, oh please can you just get on with it, work romance subplot thats reminiscent of the X-files romance from the same era. I think the original post asked for my Top 3, and for Romance (a genre which I have very little time for in general) in my opinion its hard to top those. |
