Okay, so last season Plastic Memories was suppose to be the "feels" of the season, and that anime turned into utter shit. So, this is rumored to be the feels of this season.

I'm extremely hesitant to watch this because I don't want to feel disappointment. I've never seen Angel Beats so don't compare.

Starts very interesting because of an unusual mc and nice power
turns out shit because he's found out, become usual bland nice guy, and the show tries to bring some cheap shitty feels

you can watch 10 minutes on first episode and then just throw it into trash

The staff behind Plastic Memories isn't the same as the staff behind Charlotte. So, obviously, it is a completely different anime.

This is a Key anime and Key is extremely reputed to make you feel and their anime always succeed to deliver such feels. Beside Angel Beats, Key also produced Clannad and Air which are in my opinion way more tear-jerking than Angel Beats.

To me, no. I've never seen Angel Beats either. And I don't plan on either if it's anything like Charolette. The tone shifts in this series are terrible. How am I supposed to feel bad if you're gonna revert back to comedy (which btw, is not funny) after each "dramatic" moment (that is very cliche)? There really isn't anything original that makes it worth watching imo.

Of course, I'm only speaking about the 3 first episodes. Who knows, it could turn out to be better.

I have no idea why people are using Key and PA studios as reason to watch this. It's like those fanatics who would always go to the cinema to watch movies with the name Steven Spielberg somewhere. My advice is just watch it for the 1st episode. If it's not your thing, then drop.

I have seen Angel Beats, and I enjoy it throughout. But Charlotte feels a bit bland. It's neither funny nor serious enough. And mean spirited animation does not work well for me.

I'm actually liking Charlotte so far, but I admit that the pacing is kinda rushed right now, some people may find the comedy to be getting stale, and there haven't really been any truly standout scenes yet. I'll keep watching this to the end though, since I'm generally a Key fan.

I too am enjoying Charlotte so far and I'm pretty sure we will be suitably rewarded near the end of the series. I think that people are excessively exaggerating over this anime. It is surely not perfect, but it doesn't disappoint at being entertaining. I rarely am that focused while watching an anime. The pseudo-dramatic moments are not well executed, but on the other hand, I don't see the necessity to develop some characters just for these scenes. I think that it is better how it is right now and we will soon enter into the central element of the series which are in my opinion much more important that what all those trolls are complaining about.

If you haven't seen Angel Beats, you probably shouldn't be watching lesser shows. Angel Beats isn't a long series, so go ahead and watch it! I have this friend who doesn't like feels or moe at all and he told me he enjoyed it. Personally, I thought it was hillarious.

To me, Angel Beats wasn't as up there in feels compared to Clannad. However, both made me cry though, so I'm giving Charlotte a chance. It's just why not?

In your case, no reason not to. But in his case, he hasn't watched Angel Beats. Even if Charlotte doesn't turn out to be disappointing, the likelihood of it surpassing Angel Beats is probably nonexsitent. So he might as well watch Angel Beats first, right?

I already decided to wait it out and see if it really becomes this huge "must-watch" later in the season. I'm not particularly drawn to Angel Beats. I've watched Anohana and Clannad though. Both sad and moving, but I dunno.

I'm not convinced either way but thank you for your input !!

Plastic Memories > Charlotte (but I don't see similarity between these two anime)

You could try to watch Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo. Has similar settings (school setting with people having their own special powers), but it is much better show.

Charlotte hasn't even gotten to the feel, and Plastic Memories feel were bad imo. So you can't say it until Charlotte goes to that point for now.
And what is Yamada doing here? It's almost a discussion about feels anime and that anime doesn't have any of that and is quite rushed too.

I dropped it a few episodes in. Characters aren't very likable and it seems like a mediocre KEY adaptation, but some people like it for some reason. You may like it, but there is definitely better stuff to watch elsewhere. Watch it if you are desperate for more KEY anime.

I didn't even know this was made by KEY until episode 5 when I watched the opening.
I watched it because the MC seems to be that one asshole or will do anything that is necessary to win and that one aspect is completely dropped as the episodes go on.
He mostly just became the Amagi Brilliant Park MC

Enjoyed Angel beats way way more than this.
I also think they handled it more well for twelve episodes than Charlotte.
It has its flaws tho if you look at it objectively but quite enjoyable.

Well, let's see:

- I dislike or merely tolerate the relevant characters, thought I've no qualms against Yuu. He's like the guy putting up with all the shit of the others & with Maeda's lack direction of his show.

- ^ I find the anime as a whole to have no idea where the hell it wants to go.

- I find the comedy to be horrible.

- The 1st half was composed out of find & stop the power-use-of-the-week eps and while I don't have a problem with those if they're enjoyable, provide some decent step-by-step exposition & decent characterization, they didn't do any of that here. Oh wait, no, they had some characterization for everyone besides Yuu. We found out that Takajou is big fanboy of Yusa, making for said horrible comedy, and that that moe-blob always uses pizza sauce in her food - if that counts.

- Said annoying moe-blob imouto get's killed by a throwaway random yandere character, but is of course saved later due to - dun, dun, dun...the Load Optio -er, Time Travel ability! So, I considered her nothing more but an annoying moe-blob plot device but I can still appreciate a plot device who properly serves it's purpose to a degree. The fact that she was brought back made her less than a plot device for me.

- Over-the-top edgy phase for Yuu(was the best comedy this show had), resolved like it was nothing by Nao's pizza sauce omelette. This ep as a whole deserves a hand of applause for one of the best unintentional comedy eps of the season.

- Oh, look, here in ep 9 one of the things that the show could actually do well, which is developing Yuu & Nao's relationship(got used to her by this point so she reached tolerable status). "Wait, no, fck that !"say's Maeda, "TIME FOR DA TWIST! I'll still pair them together by the end though, don't you guys worry!" But what about developing their relationship a bit more before that? You were just getting starte..."Oh to hell with that, this is all you get."

- Anyway, back to what's apparently the main direction of the story(for now anyway, must depend on Maeda's mood swings) - seems everything was planned by big bro. He smashed that Quickload butto --er, used his time travel ability to destroy any sense of tension that the consequences of him failing could give the viewe --I mean, to succeed in his noble ambitions! "Oh yea, we also need some villains or some shit. Bring out those two random corporate guys for a few minutes. Have big bro act like an idiot and send his untrained and VERY IMPORTANT TO HIS PLAN brother to save his friend, all alone. That should be enough to warrant a failure and try to force some more FEELZ down the audience's throats."

So, why am I watching this? Curiosity alone. It's an unholy mess of an anime that I just want to see where it goes.

My reason: Although it's repetitive, I kinda like Maeda's storytelling. After Story and Refrain are my Maeda's favorite. So I tried Charlotte

My enjoyment so far: Not bad but dissapointing. Worst of his I've seen so far, even worse than Angel Beats.

Yesterday I watched from 5-12 episodes and I don't think it's so bad.

From 1-5 ep was quite boring, after that some episodes were good and some bad.
