Love, friendship, trust and whatever you can live by watching anime it's shown so sincerely and profoundly that you realise there's much to learn and you can always expect more from life. | indeed why do we watch anime ... we watch it because we have no alternatives, im pretty sure that most users here would give up anime if they became more socially relevant or get in a relationship of some sort, so yes anime IS INHERENTLY scraping the bottom of the insignificant barrel we call life. i am fairly sure this is the case for A LOT (but NOT all) users. i apologize in advance for projecting like this, but i have interacted with wayy too many users to NOT generalize this view. | Anime is part of a great number of hobby/entertainment choices out there. Asking the reason why we watch anime, is similar to asking why we read books, watch TV, play basketball(or any kind of sports), play games, etc. |

| Anime is more of a foreign medium of storytelling. It has its Western elements, obviously, but some tropes are unique to anime. It's a beautiful style of animation. I found no animation style better at drawing human bengs. It's not just a matter of sexual attractiveness. There is range there - mild realism to overblown realism to cartoonish. While I love cartoons, too, anime also has a bit of realism in the animation which Western cartoons don't do that well. The stories tend to be odd and fantasical, again, in a non-Western way. If you want to see how Sci-Fi and Fantasy work in a non-Tolkien style, anime is a great place. |

| I really like the art/animation style and japanese humor fits my taste better than western sitcom shows. Also there are many different genres and topics covered in anime. Some is really unique and weird, I really like that weirdness that some anime have. |
