I love the Sydney show. I remember watching Detroit Rock City from that show, and found the flare Paul added to the vocal line was pleasing. It almost seemed like he was accentuating the last word in each line kind of like in Strutter. The band sounded super tight too, Eric Carr makes such a difference. I love Peter but I have to say that Eric had a lot more to offer on the drums. He had a great voice too, I love his versions of Black Diamond.

It really is great that they can still play though. As far as I see it, it's really an accomplishment that Paul and Gene are still going out there and killing it after 40 years. It's a shame that Ace and Peter can't be a part of it but it gives a chance for newer fans to experience their show. I can't always afford concert tickets but next time KISS is coming near me, I'll cut any corners I need to so I can see them. After listening to performances of the current lineup, it seems Tommy doesn't always play Ace's solos note for note. People seem to call him a copy of Ace but I can respect that he adds his own little flare to the songs, even if he isn't necessarily my favorite guitar player out there.

Also it seems we have the same least favorite KISS albums. Especially with Animalize and Asylum. I've never had much of a taste for the glam side of things. I can respect experimentation but it doesn't really feel like KISS to me. Almost kind of like Metallica with Load and Reload (although admittedly, I love Load and Reload).

Can't disagree on Strutter. It's one of the tracks that really sucked me into the world of KISS. I do really like the Smashes, Thrashes, and Hits version of Love Gun. I find that Paul singing can overtake the solo in that song, so I appreciate the lack of vocals during the solo. I'm not the biggest fan of what KISS did during their years without makeup, but I'll always hold that Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick (and Eric Singer later) were excellent additions to the band for that era. I see what you mean with Gene being weak on Animalize and Asylum. I generally find I like Paul's songs from those years a lot more, Lick it Up, Heaven's on Fire, and Forever being among my favorites. It seems like Gene lost touch with his demon persona once the makeup came off, but once they put out Revenge he seemed to really get it back together. As far as Sonic Boom and Monster go, I haven't listened to them much. I'm unsure of their current lineup. I'm notexactly the biggest fan of Tommy Thayer, I'd much rather see Bruce Kulick as a part of the band, even if it meant he went on as the Spaceman. I probably just need to sit down with focus my attention on those records.

I have to go with KISS as my favorite. Id be hard pressed to find a track I don't love from it. Although really anything with the original four is gold in my book. I'd say Love Gun is my favorite song
