This news is so sudden and I would have never expected this to happen to him. He was only 47... my condolences to his family. I hope his new film is still completed and released in his honour. | Wow, words cannot describe how much this sucks. Perfect Blue was one of the first anime movies I watched (might have been *the* first, I can't remember) and it just blew me away. Still to this day I get goosebumps listening to the soundtrack, which so eerily provokes every haunting moment. This is, indeed, a huge loss for the anime industry - directors of Kon's caliber are few and far between. R.I.P. |

| No...NO!!! D: I really, really want this to be fake, but alas, this really happened. I haven't been this devastated by the death of someone in the anime industry since Keiko Tobe's (author of With the Light) passing. I've loved every piece of Kon's work that I've seen. Tokyo Godfather's was a heartwarming and funny film and I've enjoyed Paprika more than any Ghibli film I've seen. They've teetered between the realms of fantasy and reality and had plenty to say about society and humanity today. R.I.P., Kon. The animation and film industries feel so empty without you now. |

| I'm so sad to hear this. I enjoyed his movies, even if the majority of them confused or disturbed me. Tokyo Godfathers was an exception and is one of my favorite movies, anime or not. It's very depressing that he died so early when he still had things he wanted to direct. His style was so unique and no director will ever be quite like him. |
