Solid start to the series. It's cool to see this world through the perspective of people who are a lot more average than the ones we follow in the main series, I'm excited to see where the story goes.

This episode was promising, I enjoy the art, I enjoy the animation, I liked the fact that we have All Might and Erasure Head in this show, kind of hoping to see some of our old fellas as well, but it's a really good start.

The OP feel manga-fied, which I like.

Huh, off topic, but I would suggest y'all to take a look at Yaiba if you haven't already, it's a remake of an old 90's anime by the same author as Meitantei Conan, and handled by WIT Studio. It looks amazing and not having the attention it deserves, so here you go.

As for Vigilante, I'll be waiting for more to get a definite thought on it, but it looks strong.

@MyllerPhiem "Tourists"?

I have been watching anime for years. I'm no tourist.
@Old_School_Akira if you cannot discern fiction from reality, you're a tourist.
If you haven't watched "Fantastic Children", don't talk about "best anime". Thank you.

Nice first episode, good animation, also great color choices for the background and design of the characters. The plot of the first ep was simple, show the main characters and their motivations, and put on the table what gonna be the big problem.

The first episode feels so generic
Like, ordinary mc saves the damsel in destress from very very bad guys, and then they forms some kind of team
And they just let those bad guys go away after. Very disappointing
I decided to watch this only because people said it was better that original bnha. Well, it's was just the fuss for nothing...

I've been reading the manga of this spin-off for a while now, so I was VERY excited to see how they would pull this off as an anime. So far, I am not disappointed. Same world as the main series but in a whole new light. Right off the bat, we got some good animation that emphasizes the comic book look, a really nice cast of voice actors, and some good music to tie it all together.

MHA Vigilantes has finally arrived and I am here for it!!

Man, they are going fast. Maybe a bit TOO fast. They basically covered the first volume with jut one episode...
I suspect they'll try to cover most of the story with just one season, two if we get lucky.
I hope they'll let Koichi, Pop and Knuckleduster develop like in the manga, because they are dear characters to me and I don't want them to rush everything.

Animation was cool, I like how they mantained some "comic" effects, and I also think their voices are just like I've imagined them years ago!

Okay this is a good start to what should be one of the biggest anime of this season, a spin off from a very established franchise with a huge fanbase.

I liked the idea that before MHA the world still had bad Quirk users, and those just trying to have fun.
* MC's quirk seems useless, but I bet it's because he hasn't figured out how to use it yet.
* Knuckle duster seems like one of the strong type that exercises his physical muscles at the expense of his atrophied brain, i.e. the strong but stupid type
* I am hoping the girl will grow, first impressions she seems kind of bimbo.

Everything is saved when Erasure arrives but then CLIFFHANGER. Why!!!?? Now we'll have to wait till next week.

Kouichi's power is so unserious, lmao. I'm enjoying this anime so far, especially Knuckleduster and Kouichi's dynamic. I know these two are going to be a chaotic mess.

Oh ok, so this what this prequel is gonna be about. Not another course in the ever so stagnated hero academia, not about some loser kid gaining an op. It's about the sense of justice coming from a college student put into action to fill in the part law and heroes won't get to. It's also animated more consistenty than the actual anime so maybe this will turn out alright?

The opening song is kinda catchy.

It's fun to see a POV of another character who idolizes All Might.
I think more anime/manga should do spin-off like this.

This was a great premiere! I loved the darker, seedier tone (compared to the beginning of MHA), as well as the few moments of levity.

It's been years since I read the manga, but they did a good job adapting it from what I can remember.

There's not much to say as far as the animation is concerned, it's on par with MHA.

Ok so basically people who aren't quite right to be licensed hero but still have a heroic spirit and wanting to help people? Basically they're going to do the heroes and polices job for free? and probably mess up along the way. At the very least don't just go punching everyone you see. Still maybe that toy dealer is sus? Also I do think him just being and nice guy going around helping people or cleaning up trash is actually a great way for people who aren't heroes still help society and be heroes in their own way. Even if he can't actually directly fight anyone he can still go report the situation or try to get the victim to escape.

The MC also has an ok quirk. It allows him to just slide basically. Not the best but at least it can be used for mobility so not completely useless even in daily life.

I've heard good things about the manga so I hope the anime's good.

Since All Might is the MHA version of Superman, I guess Knuckleduster is the MHA version of Batman. Does that make Koichi Robin?

YOOO, THIS IS KINDA PEAK???

I've known this manga since it began serialization, I have it in my plan to read list but never started it because I didn't had the time, I tried to read it like a year ago but didn't even finish the 1 chapter, since the last 2 arcs of BNHA were so fkng trash I lost interest on this, but seeing it get an anime makes me happy, it's so cool, way cooler than BNHA.
Maybe I'll try to read it now since it also ended.

The main trio are all likable, the protagonist being an UNIVERSITY student, and the way they immediately began to sexualize Pop Step's ass, makes me think this may be targeting a more "mature" audience, I hope I'm right, I got sick of BNHA and it's lame, generic ass "we are all friends" ending.

I hope this keeps the pace and becomes as big as BNHA did, I can't wait to someday get a figure of Pop Step for my collection because I already fkng love her! I'm a simple man after all.

Editing this comment to say that holy shit I LOVE both the opening and ending, the songs and the videos, haven't seen ones as good as this in this franchise since BNHA season 2.

Finally watched my first episode of the new batch this season, and of course I have to keep tabs on the MHA spinoff. MHA has been a journey over the years. Remember seeing one of the Vigilante books in a Barnes & Noble before but never read it through so.. hopefully this is a nice little story. Seeing pink twintails off the bat is beautiful.

Fun to have a little bike ride power to use in the street, but woefully not that strong a power in this verse

The twintails call for me 🫡 I see myself in the crowd of the light post song. Pop Step W. I'm her fan. Love her

When he was about to leave her to the goons 💀 wtf. Don't mess with her.

Screw the rules to be a hero. And not be part of that one organization.

I liked the art, the plot and the comics-like layout, style and OSDs.
Good voice work as well.

An oddity I noticed is that compared to the original show ~80% of the global population are said to possess quirks rather than a mere ~20%.

This apparent retcon (assuming it wasn't a sub error) seems more in line with the reality of the original story, since the long claimed 20% number always seemed too low to me:

Just about everyone we've seen, both active characters and background extras, has some sort of quirk. So I've been wondering all those years... where on Earth that 80% unquirked bulk of the population have been hiding? 🤔

This prequel borrows the quirk boost plot of the parent story.
Another apparent retcon, since I don't recall anyone ever mentioning that drug was also a thing many years ago...

Meh, so a show about a what if Batman was dumb and poor, Midori was born with a useless quirk, and low tier T&A got together and fought losers sprinkled with Hero cameos.
For a world with 80% of the population having a super power why does it always seem like only a bunch of the 20% are ever around being attacked?
And she (and him) didn't go to the cops after being assaulted by those punks, why?
The lazy writing is why I lost interest in MHA, thought I would give this a chance but it looks like more of the same.

I like the tone here, it's darker than the main series. I also think that this feels a lot more like a standard superhero story than MHA, like something out of Marvel or DC. What I'm really curious about is how this story will portray vigilantism, because I feel the main MHA series was kinda against working outside of the law. A good start overall.

A really solid first episode! The animation looks a livelier then Academia, love the comic book-esque feeling like the use of thick black lines, onomatopoeias and the panels to divide the screen. Love seeing the old characters like All Might and Aizawa (and the little cameo of Midoriya’s mom) and the new characters seem really fun as well. Now just gotta hope the animation quality stays consistent and isn’t just good in the first episode.

Never read the manga but I loved this first episode! Knuckleduster's gotta be my favorite character so far; he's so fucking insane. It's wild that when I watched the first episode of BNHA, I was in middle school like Midoriya, and now I'm in college the same age as Koichi. Even my apartment looks like Koichi's; I store my rice cooker on top of my fridge just like him lmao. The nostalgia really hit home for me with this one. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face when All Might showed up at the beginning, and I loved that they used a familiar villain OST during the scene with the spike guy. Totally fangirled out when Aizawa showed up at the end there; he was my favorite character in the original show. Loved the quick Midoriya's mom cameo at the beginning as well! Pop Step's pop-up concert was also super catchy. Overall, I had a blast!!

I'm a bit late, but...

HOLY SHIT THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE MAIN SERIES!
I absolutely love the darker vibes, the blend of comic artstyle, the character designs and personas, and both the OP and ED! Everything is very stylistic and edgy! 😆

Also made me realize just how awfully generic the main series in comparison lol

I hope they adapt it completely because there are some epic moments in this series. Koichi is a really likable guy personally.

My Hero Vigilantes, the prequel to the main story! If it involves more My Hero content, I’m here for it. I’m not ready for series to end yet.

So what’s a better way to welcome a prequel than with an appearance from the greatest of all time, All Might! Doing what All Might does best. Fighting crime and inspiring others.

Our MC is an All Might fan just like Deku. He’s so inspired by All Might that his hero outfit is similar to All Might. I think he has Deku beat. However, outfit doesn’t attribute to strength because even though he has a quirk, he’s still getting bullied and doesn’t have the strength to protect someone else. But he has resolve!

Now who has the strength? Knuckleduster! A Batman version of All Might. Who has one mission:

To hunt drug dealers. But our favorite teacher Erasure Head won’t stand by and let him bully innocent civilians in the process.

There seems to be a darker tone of this series so far, and I’m interested to see where it leads. To episode 2
