WOWWWW this episode was amazing!! Was a little disappointed that last episode's cliffhanger turned out to be a dream, supposedly, but I have a feeling that'll come back later. Maybe X has something to do with it, since he seems to have the most reality-altering powers. It makes sense that Nice and Moon's relationship was all fake, and it's fun to see just how much of Nice's image was completely manufactured. Watching them bond while being forced together was cute, and I'm glad it didn't end in an actual forced romance. It was great to see Moon's true personality shine through more, too, and it was SUPER interesting that her teleportation powers were effected by the wishes of her fans. The ending where "Nice" has her fans wish for her freedom in order to give her more flexibility with her powers was so sweet.

I'm also intrigued by the little bits and pieces we get to learn about the real Nice. The reveal that him (and now Lin Ling/"Nice") have OCD made a lot of sense with his perfectionism, and the fact that becoming "Nice" has been effecting his mental state is kinda horrifying tbh. Will be able to preserve his own sense of self, or will that fade away as he becomes more of Nice than himself? Will he end up with the same mental health issues that may have driven Nice to his suicide? So many different ways this could go.

The fight between Wreck and "Nice" absolutely broke my heart. Two best friends set up to portray enemies, only for Nice to drop off the face of the earth and be replaced. The fact that Wreck noticed pretty much instantly just shows how well they knew each other. Watching him find out that his best friend had committed suicide was so heartbreaking... I wonder if when he mentioned not hearing from Nice for a while, if he was just referring to the time after Lin Ling took over and had to be kept out of the public eye for a while, or if this was going on even before that. It would make sense for Nice to grow distant from his best friend during the last period of his life, if he really was suicidal. I would have liked more confirmation about what happened to Wreck, but I feel like it's pretty safe to assume that he didn't survive that fall, given his absolute despair. Very tragic :((

Looking forward to seeing more of a villainous Enlightener- or should I say God Eye- in the upcoming episodes! I wonder how big of an antagonist he'll prove to be? Gahhh, I wish I didn't have to wait an entire week to find out!!

Well I am honestly really confused about the status of Moon. Was it a dream, a vision of the future, an alternate reality, or something else that Nice saw at the end of last episode? Regardless, this episode was an interesting look at Moon's character. I appreciated how she felt trapped as an accessory to Nice and wanted to finally be free again - this seems to be the key feeling of most of the heroes and villains shown so far. They are all forced to ever increasingly play into a role that is predetermined for them rather than live out their own dreams. This was the same for Nice's rival this episode too, who seemed to feel genuine sadness at the death of Nice given their history and original shared dream. The action was brilliant again this episode; it was stylish, snappy and overwhelming in a good way. It seems at this point that the art style change is purely for aesthetic reasons, with it switching for the fight. Whilst it is a little jarring it looks great so I can't complain too much. The interviewer from last episode showed back up at the end so it seems he will be somewhat of an ongoing antagonist, especially now that he is teaming up with some kind of evil organisation.

Nah, there's an actual reason behind the animation change! Which I can't explain without spoiling future eps

bruh what was even the point of that death of moon scene in last episode??? It would have been much better if story moved on with that serious route. Plot is really stupid till now

i was disappointed too, but knowing the director which just happens to be the one who made link click, a show known for it's inmaculate storytelling and cliffhangers, he wouldn't do that just because, you feel me?
It's probably a foreshadowing of something happening later in the series, and I'm really excited to know why it most likely wasn't a dream at all

Ohh dam Link click is my fav. I didn't knew it's the same director lol. Then I gotta give it more chance

This is the best show of the season. So far, anyway.

That was another amazing episode. I love how this show uses the various art styles with each style looking fantastic in its own right. Also, very interesting that the company also employs the villains, so everything is one big "reality" TV show.

It would be great to see an entire episode or two about the original Nice and his friend. I think it is a bit of missed opportunity that they didn't make OG Nice and his friend be a secret yaoi couple. Of course, I doubt China would even allow something like that. Being best friends that dreamed of becoming heroes together worked well too though. It made the complete emotional breakdown believable.

It was a very emotional ride. Moon's departure included. I wonder if they will see each other again, or if that cliffhanger from last episode was some sort of premonition rather than a dream? Either way, hell of start and I'm excited for whatever else is to come.

thought the first episode was slightly overhyped but i'm starting to get hooked. this was a really good episode. the backstory of the previous nice and his best friend was good, the 2v1 fight sequence was great, the artstyle transitioning was smooth, the stuff with moon was nice too. starting to like the mc, bittersweet that moon left though. looking forward to more.

It's great Moon got her ticket out, I was afraid she'd take Nice's route if it seemed hopeless.

So now there is a villain who is empowered by fear. It makes me wonder if there will be other heroes and villains who will be empowered by yet other emotions.

Lin Ling's acting feels so real. I was kinda sad when Xiao Yueqing had to go chase her dream. I hope they meet again later, they are perfect for each other.

Definitely something sus about Moon not being dead.
It's foreshadowing, but for what? Maybe nothing we see here is real?

By the way Lin Ling is the perfect superhero, because the superpowers depend on the audience and knowing an manipulating audiences was/still is his job.
Nice's nemesis being his partner being hired to play a villain makes totally sense in universe.
J is still my favourite character and her chinese voice still my favourite VA in the show. Her goons are pretty sympathetic too.

Great ending song, tho I am not much of a fan of the opening song.

Well… I guess someone finally had some sort of reaction to death. Weird that it was sandwiched between silly gags about celebrity romance. Turns out the cliffhanger last episode meant nothing, and neither does anything else. Sigh.

who is that dead moon in the last episode then?

and the ending song is about spotlight eh reminds of the spotlight effect https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotlight_effect

the spotlight organization is about the power of fear too so the spotlight effect is link with them

is 2d animation or world about idealism while 3d animation or world about realism or even nihilism?

My theory:

Dead Moon is a just premonition of Nice, probably one of his skills, or just plain anime moment

Could also probably be a metaphor of the hero Moon "dying" from people's perspectives

The second, the management team (as we also see in the episode) prevented real Nice from contacting his best friend. They are both gay, lol. And that caused him to commit suicide

@saikyozero that second thing is 100% simply just true lol. Idek if it needs to be a theory. I try not to jump to claiming stuff like that, I find people who claim things like that for every pair of male character who show up on screen together ever a bit tiring sometimes, but this was about as blatant as it could get lol, especially with China involved.

Two very enjoyable episodes, from both the animation and characters along with the story. I really liked the fight this ep between Nice, Moon and Wreck. I really hope we see more of Wreck throughout this series as so far he's been my favourite character, especially with his story being intertwined with Nice and them Becoming heroes together also his design and display of power where amazing.

So far a great show with great characters, I cant wait for more.

(After watching this episode, I can say that we should expect 0.9 fights per episode and rushed dialogue until the end of the season.)

The themes of this episode were poignantly addressed, but I'm not sure this will be consistent for the rest of the series.

Regarding the staging, it seems to have been designed to provide as much information as possible in the shortest possible time. It works, but you might have to take a minute to recap the episode and compile and group everything in your head.

I wasn't going to get around to commenting on this anime, but its first few episodes lead me to want to say just one thing.
If there is anything in which this spin-off can be related to the previous anime, To be Hero and To be Heroine, it is that it is very likely, considering how the first episode ended and the events of the next, that there will be one or more Earths, they will bring up the parallel lines thing and that the dead Moon happened in another timeline. Perhaps the other thing that is also used from its predecessors is that the hero's power, apart from being fueled by people's trust in the superhero himself, he/she must channel it by believing in himself/herself.

@Efemey the director has said that there isn't any actual connection story wise to the previous two seasons, they're just using the name since it's easier for marketing or whatever lol. I have spotted a couple pins with the protag of season 1 in a promo video on Twitter though, so there are some Easter eggs at least, so take that as you will. (doesn't disprove anything from your theory necessarily regardless ๐Ÿคท‍โ™‚๏ธ)

I think moon's arc was really great, nothing went the generic route like her falling in love with lin ling or something, and yay she actually didn't die (cant believe this, LH0 did good here finally). She gets to go and live the life she wants now. Still though, was that cliffhanger in ep 1 a fake-out or was it foreshadowing something...?

Now i STILL want to know more about the original Nice and who he was really. Zamnn wreck just got left behind in every way possible. It would be sad if he doesn't show up again, after getting bombshells dropped on him like that, seriously. He looked interesting. But I guess he just died...? Oh holy gotdamn, wreck's name sure be describing his life amirite

So far the characters have been great, and i still see potential for insane drama, but the pacing has been a little fast for my liking to really focus on finer details about the character's thoughts etc. Like all the information and plot gets across well, but it's done so in a very brief manner. The events of ep 1 and 2 seem like they could've been spead out into 3 episodes. My favorite thing is yummy delicious DETAILS and there's a slight lack of those. So overall, there's nothing wrong with the writing, but it's like it's trying to speedrun through the story on screen. Still an enjoyable watch tho, with amazing visuals.

Okay I came here from link click and YET AGAIN now we have black & white doomed yaoi too?! I wasn't aware I needed to bring a bingo card. Anyway so far, this series is looking good; still cant completely judge it at least until nice's arc is done.
I quite wonder if/how the different hero stories will tie together or what X has to do with everything.
Also, how much do the people's beliefs affect reality? Will lin ling later become Nice to the point he loses his own original personality? He even said he felt like more of a neat freak than before... Maybe not, but who knows

I mean I am happy Moon is alive, but last episode cliffhanger was criminal, and then we just "LOL IT WAS A BAD DREAM CHILL"? It's like the laziest, the most idiotic way to explain and trick your audience. I'd rather them to actually stick to this and make a murder mystery with suspects and stuff But the show is good on its own.

Better episode with more characterization for some but also again too fast paced.
The nemesis guy and best friend of Nice was such a weird appearance. While interesting it was brushed over way too fast and came out of nowhere.

Even better than Episode 1.

Great fight animation, the sakuga was there.

Nice x Moon relationship comes to its natural end. He cried because he didn't want to let her go, but he had to. I think he was way more attached than she was.

Wreck being the original Nice's friend is just even sadder. There's just so much potential storylines in this world, it's insane and I can't wait to see more!

I love how optimistic most people here are about the real reason behind the fake death cliffhanger of Moon. The scene being some sort of horrific foreshadowing and/or a currently unknown premonition skill from Lin Ling sounds promising. And seeing how many viewers, me included, hated the "it's just a nightmare" explanation that was given for now, I hope one of your theories or something equally interesting will be the real reveal later. If not, that cliffhanger scene will leave a foul taste in some people's mouths.

btw the German dub made a jaw dropping mistake during the wedding scene. The TV commentator guy said "Xiao Yueqinq hat zu Lin Ling JA gesagt!" - and I was like, wait a sec, did he just reveal Nice's real name to the entire world? No waaaaay. And indeed, rewatching the scene with subs and Japanese dub, the voice never mentioned Lin Ling's name ("Xiao Yueging said YES!"). What a strange dubbing mistake.
