Man had to gtfo of there before he marries into a demon nobility; Esil looked so disappointed.
Instantly switched places, he can finally awaken his mother. It's not only a heartwarming moment for him and his sister but huge news doctors find hard to believe.
Japanese and South Korean hunters are about to spar

Novels I have read/am reading pending approval: since November 10 2022

"See you next time." MC lies as naturally as he breathes. Or better said, the author.

That Andre hunter from US looks like a mix between All Might and Bandit Keith.

And now that I think of it, we never got a proper depiction of MC's relationship with his mother. Not even a glimpse of how deep their bond was before this episode. Yeah, nice use of lighting and dedicated insert song but I practically know nothing of this character, not even her name. So why would I feel anything when seeing her wake up? And I'm a sucker for parent-child emotional storylines... So yeah, author/studio really fumbled with this part.

Finally, what was sought after since last season was finally achieved, Jinwoo's mother recovered...

On the other hand, I feel that in the raid Jinwoo will shine again...

The voice acting this episode was simply immaculate, the animation was so incredibly beautiful (as always of course).

I also loved that jinwoo actually broke down crying when his mother woke up, it gave his character so much more depth! I feel like most anime characters (protagonists) would simply be happy and hug their mother. This was such a beautiful and vulnerable moment!!
He finally did it!!!

Jinwoo finally attained the elixir of life and revives his mother. I wish he went to the party with Esil though, hopefully they will meet again. Next arc is going to be Jeju Island and they are teaming up with ten Japanese S rank hunters.

"Did I cross a line?" bullshit you found a way to save your mom. That's a win. I was worried it would only cure her physical wound or she'd relapse.

RIP the Demon Castle reset. Wonder how Esil is doing now. She was all set to have a victory party with him RIP

Lol called it, knew that he was going to extract the dragon shadow. So not to ruin the emotional moment but... didn't they say being around hunters is what causes the disease... which is how his mom probably got it in the first place because of his dad.
Anyway I guess he still has 5.75 potions left... unless of course that counted as consuming the whole potion even if she drank only a little of it. Agreed though I really want him to meet his dad. LMAO All Might with shades, he's like a mix between All Might and someone else I forgot the name of. You better not refuse to take part in the raid...
Lol I know that we can't just have him roll all the japanese hunters but it'd have been funny though.

I didn’t get spoiled about this episode but I saw all over the news that this was the most disliked episode out of Solo Leveling

Now that I’m watching it, I don’t see why. Just saw our MC cried over his mother, who was in a coma for 4 years, finally woke up? I think people fail to realize that he’s gone to HELL all for this moment. The raids, the dungeons, practically facing death multiple times to get what he needed for his mother’s treatments.

WHO WOULDN’T SHOW VULNERABILITY AT THIS MOMENT!

And as for the ending, we got some build up. We can see Japan’s S ranks against our own before the 4th raid starts

Amazing episode, Sung's goal has been completed. Was nice to see the guy's "weaker"/emotional side after saving his mother, looks like this hunter vs hunter fight next episode won't have Sung in it though.

Goodbye Esil...

It's nice to see some emotion from Jinwoo, although I don't think Jinwoo is as passionate about helping strangers as his mother thinks he is.

Let us see how Korea can hold up against the Japanese.

So the Wyvern is now named Kaisel and Jinwoo had obtained the ability of Shadow Exchange, which allows him to switch places with one of his shadows, but has to wait 3 hours between uses. It’s like Sasuke’s Rinnegan ability except that for Sasuke, he can switch places with any person or object. I’m assuming that Jinwoo can choose which shadow he switches places with, but we’ll have to wait for him to use this ability more. I’m glad that he skipped the dinner with the Radiru family because he’s gotta get straight to business.

And that’s exactly what he does. Luckily, Jinwoo was able to get the Elixir of Life into his mom without much trouble and we learn more about his past. Apparently, the scar she had was due to something he did as a child (I’m sure it wasn’t intentional). I don’t know if it has to do with him awakening or if this is a separate thing, but his mom waking up introduces us to the first time we see Jinwoo in this emotional state since he became The Player, and Jinah reacted similarly. While the three of them catch up, it seems Jinwoo reflects on the less than moral acts he’s committed to get to this point, but for now that’ll have to wait, since Japan and Korea’s hunters are about to spar. Speaking of international hunters, it seems there is an S-rank American Hunter called Thomas Andre who is strong enough to take down an entire country, so he may be the strongest hunter in the world. We’ll see if he ever meets Jinwoo.

Jinwoo was hesitant on the idea of joining this raid since he’s accomplished his major goal and wants to spend time with his mother. I understand his feelings on the matter. What’s the point in him getting stronger now? What would be driving him when he’s already an S-rank?

We’ll see how this develops in the next episode, possibly…

@G_Spark233 From the way that Hanekawa was talking, it seems Japan's S-ranks may be stronger than the regular S-ranks. Jinwoo might be a different story.

@Me_Mario You're right. The text says that to get the full effects of the potion, the entire thing has to be consumed. It's clear that she didn't drink all of it, yet all her ailments (even past scars) were healed).

@SouthRzVa Because the entire motivation behind Jinwoo becoming a Hunter, remaining a Hunter, and going through the hell the system put him through was all for this moment. A bond between mother and son doesn't really need to be explained in depth, because that's family.

Unless there was something of note (abuse, emotional trauma, and so on), there's no reason to reveal more than necessary, hence why they showed a moment when Jinwoo was a child.

All the life and death battles have through necessity steeled Jinwoo's heart. So it's nice to see those emotions come pouring out when his mom wakes up from the elixir.

Aleks Le has done an amazing job portraying the different sides of this MC!

The episode was great, and the MC crying wasn't as bad as people made it out to be in that other thread, it wasn't even bad, he's allowed to cry for fucks sake, he finally achieved his dream which is saving his mom and that's what he was doing from the very beginning so cut him some slack, he's been working pretty hard so he deserves some rest now.

My only complaint about this whole thing is that my favorite character Esil won't appear anymore for the rest of this anime, she's out of the story, which is the thing I hated in the Manhwa and it's the thing I hate about the anime too, of course this isn't enough to ruin the anime for me but I still hate it, Esil deserved better than this.

Anyway, I can't wait to watch the next episode. It's too bad I have to wait another week. I'm watching the English dub, after all.

Man, This episode was just top tier and my favourite episode of the entire series. Seeing Jinwoo so vulnerable and in tears like that, Moms really play a special role in our lives and seeing this made me tear up a bit. I wish the series focused a bit more on moments like this instead of just showing Jinwoo acting cool and all. I like Solo leveling but it needs substance aswell, Fights are cool and all but these episodes are what makes a story truly work. We actually bond with the characters.
10/10 episode.

Why was Kaisel arised but not Baran??

As I said before, Esil felt kinda unnecessary to the plot.

Watching Sung be vulnerable for once was pretty wholesome but I did feel like his mom's dialogues and character was a bit bland and lacking emotion I guess? Anyway edgelords bashing the scene where Sung is crying is just a pathetic example of how insecure they are of their masculinity.

Sung will be joining the island Raid.

USA's S rank decided to drop by? Damn.

The S rank clash seems exciting

For everyone complaining about Sung Jinwoo crying being cringe, yall don't love your mothers. I think the scene was beautiful and just human, reminding us that Jinwoo is human too. I think it was amazing how, in the process if slowly loosing his ability to feel emotions, he still broke down crying when he realised that the antidote worked and that he was able to save his mum after 4 years of suffering and working hard. I loved this episode with my whole heart and it made my love jinwoo even more !

The defeat of Demon Monarch Baran being the final piece to craft the Elixir of Life that he's been seeking to cure his mother's Eternal Sleep, that journey has finally come to a head. Iron's help in slaying a dragon (which he names it Kaisel) is good and all, but Jinwoo being able to do a Shadow Exchange between the Gates and the real world is just next level planning. Yoonho having to commit to the Jeju Island raid to allay revenge for Eunseok's death, sharing the sentiments with his good buddy of B-rank hunter Min Byung-gu is hard, but it needs to be done. But this sentiment is also shared by the fact that Jinwoo has finally managed to revive his ailing mother using the Elixir of Life, barring his S-rank strength just for this moment after 4 years, for an emotional reunion.

Even Jinah is surprised that their mother woke up, that has been the jubilation forthcoming for quite the while. But no matter, while the highly publicized Jeju Island raid is in the works, helping settle their mother back is all the more important, though things at the Hunters' Guild is slowly raking up no thanks to foreign intervention, especially from the American ranks of Thomas Andre warning about Hwang Hyunsoo.

Japan's S-rank hunters are here, and even Ryuji Goto sensing the difference in atmosphere between theirs and Korea's S-ranks, a free-for-all to challenge who's strongest (while exluding Jinwoo's type of mage users), it's only both sides asking for trouble.
