| When im asked what my hobby is i tell them my hobby is anime I wear cats ears on my head when im outside, i also have the Wings of Freedom (but i guess it's something only AoT fans would understand) and some anime keychains (right now it's Juuzou Suzuya and falling Zenitsu) on my backpack, i have only anime pics as my profile pics on vk (because I won't put my own photos on the web as well as any identifying info anymore for safety reasons). I even have a Japanese name So i guess im pretty open |

| I thought I was a closet anime fan, but since people could inevitably tell by my words and actions that I was an anime fan, I've decided to be more open about it. Various people have started to tell me information about anime and manga that I didn't even know existed. |

| I guess I'm mainly a closet-fan I do collect anime merch and occasionally wear some of it out (little stuff like keychains or phone cases) but I never bring it up in public spaces unless someone explicitly asks me about it. And even if someone does happen to ask me about it, I'm usually pretty casual about it and then try to change the subject, especially if I don't know the other person very well. I'm usually just worried about coming off as a 'weird anime fan' so I try to remain pretty reserved |

| I'm not shy that I watch anime but it's just one of my interests. I talk with friends and acquaintances about it and I am fortunate to be from an area where it's not stigmatized. The more interesting aspects of being an avid anime viewer to me are how it bleeds into my other interests. The video games I play, the models I paint and build. As time has gone on those aspects of my life have become influenced by my fandom of various shows. |

| I don't see any reason to hide my hobbies when someone ask about it. I don't care if someone will have a problem with it. It's their problem not mine. All my friends knows know what I'm into. If they didn't, I wouldn't call them "friends" in the first place. |

| Kind of both? My friends know that I enjoy anime, but I don't really talk about the anime/manga that I enjoy unless they ask about it. Most of my friends are non-anime fans, though, so that probably has something to do with it. I have one friend who also likes anime, so we talk about it pretty often. As for my family, it depends on the member. My parents and brother have a general idea of what I like but don't really care otherwise, but my grandparents (mainly my two grandmas) think that manga and anime are interesting. |

When I first got into anime part of it was because all my friends watched anime and so I felt pressure to get into. I've never felt embarrassed about watching anime. |

| It's not that I keep it a secret but I don't talk about it randomly without knowing the people around me aren't the judgemental sort. For example, one of my closest friends is kind of a dick sometimes in regards to anime. He sometimes scoffs and call it hentai and simply doesn't understand why anyone would ever want to watch anime ("hentai") because all they do is "shout and fall into girls cleavages". So while he knows I like it, I don't talk about it when he's around. Another friend accidentally mentioned some stuff and when we talked a bit about it turned out that he's a big ecchi fan (he didn't want me to mention to his parents that he likes Monster Musume...). Most of my closer friends knows about me being an anime fan and asks about it from time to time, in the polite "tell me about your day"-way like what I do when they mention sports/cats/gardening/whatever. |

| I think careful is the word to describe my Anime fan status. See, I was in a time period where Anime wasn't as popular as it is nowadays and I started liking anime at possibly the worst time to do it in school where you could be ridiculed for it. I mean I didn't want that on my guilty conscience cuz I already had problems regarding different interests when I was growing up, so I kept it to myself. Nowadays I do have a few friends that I talk to about anime cuz I know they are into it. Otherwise again I'm careful when it comes to it so I dunno I don't know whether I'm a closet fan or open, I might be both but again I don't know on that one. |
