Initially, I wanted forensic medicine, but the score was pretty high and, also, were only 3 spots. So, I took the other extreme: babies.
I don't like working with children (Pediatrics) and general people (adults or elderly). I have my share of these kind of patients during my clinicals years and I had enough :D
With babies you look after them the moment they are born until 3-4 days when they leave home (from that moment it is the job of pediatrics to take care of them, to look after the baby development and health care).
Oh, good luck. :) Have you already decided what you want to become? Or it's too soon?
Yeah, I love anime and I also love to go to work, but are days that are hard to combine those two. I usually watch anime when I'm on call and I don't have many births or a quiet night.
See the thing about tomoko is that even though she blames everything on others she knows that it’s actually her fault that she isn’t popular. The way she looks back at herself thinking that becoming popular and having friends is such a trivial wish that she once wished was great. Watamote impacted me and genuinely made me rethink about my life descions so that’s why I like it. The way I look at the series is that watamote isn’t a comedy, it’s a a story about a girl who at the end of the day just wants to be happy. Watamote is not a show for everyone and definitely not for those who can’t relate to tomoko but being someone who didn’t have any friends at school and having gone through many embarrassing situations similar to what tomoko went through I can see the subtlety and depth in her character .
Also the visuals aren’t that bad but if you didn’t like them then I can’t argue.
also Watamote never tries to portray otakus lol.
She can’t make a move on the library bot because she is shy and has social anxiety.
Children at school aren’t that interactive. They just tend to their own business and keep moving on with life. Just think about it. Would you approach anyone you don’t know and just talk to them
Also she pretends to think that she is superior because she is jealous. She just wants to console herself into thinking that she is happy while actually being hurt from the inside.
What if she is a loner?
I can actually agree with the fact that watamote doesn’t have much progress but tomoko has a great development in the manga. She has been shown failing constantly as the building so that tomoko’s character progression maybe much more rewarding.
Overall I would say watamote isn’t a show for everyone. I definitely wouldn’t call it a masterpiece cause it has many flaws but it’s a piece of art which resonated within me and tomoko’s character impacted me more that I can say
Oh, as a real person, I agree. At least in the face value description of her, she comes across someone like Chris-chan or something.
But to me, I think the whole point of the series isn't about introversion or being shy, it's about the comedy of errors when you grow up with severe shyness and/or anxiety.
Tomoko to me was a hyper-realized personification of all those traits and stories anyone who's had a similar life have gone through. I don't know how it's possible to like a protagonist that you also laugh AT, but for me, she was one of them.
For me, I guess I don't think a character needs to be likable, relatable or anything like that, but more so interesting. There was so much I could gather from her by how she behaved (again, you must analyze your own bad actions to ever hope to grow) and there were also lessons to learn from her, kind of a, "Don't be a Tomoko" kind of lesson.
So yeah, I guess it's an acquired taste. But I definitely found her to be one of the most unique and memorable characters I've ever seen in an anime, let alone a female character. Don't see many like her, with more flaws than even a real life person, and someone who had a whole lot of growing left to do, if ever. That's an enjoyable and interesting journey for me.
