Going based on tags
Favorite by peak entry: Code Geass S1 (enjoyed the plot twists, Lelouch's drive to overthrow the empire, British vs Japanese war, mech fights)
Favorite series: GiTS: SAC (enjoyed the cyberpunk setting, professional teamwork as a cohesive unit, great developments, 2 good main villains, quality production)

I see a lot o people talking about Darling in The Franxx but tbh, i was enjoying it but the author started pumping weed in his veins at the last 5-6 episodes and it was just a mess imo, that giant Zero-Two still gives me nightmares.

Eureka 7 was actually my all time favorite, Code Geass is great but still need to finish season 2 and the movies.

Not interested in Blue Gender, haven't tried Escaflowne and 0080, Ghost in The Shell is good but still not done with SAC, The Origin is fantastic, and Eureka 7 is 10/10

I haven't seen many mecha series, but my top pick so far would be Code Geass, I love the names of the mech's; Lancelot, Gawain, Burai, Mordred, Percival and the history and development of the mecha's as the show progresses.

In terms of sheer awesome mecha's, then Gurren Lagann has the best mechs.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam - a successful sequel to a already great classic and expanding upon the events after the first series in a Most darkest and gruesome way imaginable.

Macross - one of my first impressions of excellent romance anime than mecha. The themes of the story are outstanding too of human culture.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - started out as a monster of the week mecha show but turned out to be something more than that during the latter half.

And if Stand Alone Complex counts, that one as well

Giving how many people mention Code Geass, I give a shout-out to its younger siblings, Valvrave and Cross Ange, both works with a similar premise to Geass and that followed nicely the mecha trainwreck formula of their older brother.

Also Full Metal Panic and Oban Star Racers (well, Oban is more about podracers than giant robots, but still).

It'd have to be Break Blade. I mean, after reading the manga the anime doesn't hold up much (the manga is absolutely FANTASTIC), but I still like it enough since it's good by itself, and it introduced me to its even-more-amazing manga. It had lots of political intrigue, stellar cast of well-developed characters, and cool interpersonal relationships. So yeah.

But my actual answer might be something like Gundam IBO or Kakumeiki Valvrave, and I realize they (especially the second one) aren't held in high regard by others, but I liked the first for its daring ending and splendid characters, and the second for being wacky and weird, just the way I like it.

Full Metal Panic's franchise and by a really wide margin. Especially due to Second Raid (also Fumoffu but that's not really mecha, more of just a ridiculously great comedy edition).

Code Geass is to mecha anime what Smash Bros is to fighting games. And even Smash Bros' creator says it's not a fighting game.

I'm both a huge smash and mecha fan, so I feel targeted by this lmao. I'd say both are def a fighting game and mecha anime respectively, it's just they're mashed up with so many other things that that might not be the first thing people think of when their names pop up. I certainly remember CG more for the weird harem-esque scenes and "le big brain" plans than the mechs.
