Cardinal dies for no reason reasoning with Quinella after it's clearly stated she can't be reasoned with, Eugeo turns into a sword and dies after he gets a sudden epiphany looking at jewels, Kirito does the same 'leave it to me' speech. And we know for sure, there's going to be revivals later on. Thank God it's over soon. Pedram and White outright explained why all of those things happened. All you chutiyas just dont like to read. What they said does not dismiss the arguments I made. 1) How does Cardinal dying solve any of the issues they currently had. There was ZERO chance Quinella would've listened to anything Cardinal was asking her to do.Alice even stated she can't be reasoned with. Asking Quinella to spare the three after she die? Yea that turned out into Quinella attacking Sword Eugeo regardless, and attacking Alice, and Kirito. 2) Cardinal can't attack the Sword Golem because it's filled with humans lives, so why does Sword Eugeo attack and destroy it. 3) The time it takes for Eugeo to learn and decide to turn into a sword is literally 30 seconds of on screen time, no buildup, no development, just a BTW I gotta turn into a sword. It's not a matter of not reading, it's a matter of bad character development and plot building. Sigh... 1) My comment somewhere else when someone asked if Quinella swearing on her fluctlight was any kind of real bind or did Cardinal just believed Quinella : IIRC there was no binding or anything preventing Quinella to not harm them afterward. But there was no reason for Quinella to fight them either, since the very beginning, Quinella didn't think of them as anything more than Ants. her whole plan was to finally lure out Cardinal and kill her, that was her whole goal. Cardinal was at a dead end... her only chance was to bet on Quinella swearing off the only think that she cared about, her fluctlight, and giving the 3 some time. she did not really expect them to be able to fight back later. I think she just wanted to give them a bit of time away from Quinella and hope that Kirito can do something or get some help from the other side, since she completely gave up hope of defeating her from this side. in Cardinal's opinion, it was either everyone die and she can bother Admin a bit... but she will fix herself eventually. or bet that she can have a small chance of letting the other 3 survive. 2) I already explained it above, Cardinal can't coz she is a program and she have many limitation, not only she got Seal of the Right eye, she is not really a human and is half program. same as Quinella. she can't disobey. Eugeo can attack it coz Eugeo broke the only seal and limitation he had in EP10 ! he broke his eye. 3) Eugeo literally saw what Quinella did, turn the beloved people of the memory crystals and make them into sword, then let their Desire to posses their loved one, control the Sword Golem. He then think he should do the same with himself, because... he learn from EP19~20, that the desire to posses that Quinella is mistaking as real love and using it is not really correct and what the humans want. Love is not someone u take in return for giving, it's not like money or a trade, he believed if he become a Sword with Alice, his and Kid alice's bond is stronger than the fake desire that control Sword Golem and will defeat it. and it did. there is build up and development and obvious reasons for everything before this. you just didn't notice. Sigh... 1) I don't agree with that at all. There is no outcome where dying would be better than living for Cardinal. If she just wanted to stall time for Kirito and others, staying alive would undoubtedly give them more time to decide on a course of action. If she thought there was a chance Quinella would not immediately attack them afterwards, then that's just poor misguided reasoning, which I dont buy. 2) That's not what I'm arguing. I understand that Cardinal cannot attack humans, it is the fact that Eugeo did that I have contention with. Why would he attack and destroy the physical embodiment of human lives, it makes no sense. They are HUMAN LIVES! 3) That may be the case, but the time it took for him to decide he had to turn into a sword and him actually doing it is not believable. It's not convincing in the slightest. Literally 30 seconds to decide. No monologue, no discussion with the other members, he just does it. |

Kirito giving up like that was very forced and out of character. It could have been executed better Cardinal would die either way even if she wanted to fight, she could not harm or destroy the Sword Golem at all, she was at the very best equal in power to Quinella. so since Quinella got a OP boost on her side, she would surely die along with Kirito/alice/eugeo. she choose to bet on a a bad ending over an even worse ending. but Eugeo's sacrifice changed things. I explained it in my comment above #39 : https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1773432#msg57203521 Kirito giving up like that was not out of character for him at all, he gave up the same way when he thought that Asuna died and easily let Kayaba impale him in Season 1, and while the anime might not show it that well, but we know from the novels that Eugeo is as important as Asuna for Kirito, he is the first and only best friend he ever mad. there is long inner monologue about Eugeo from kirito and even comparing him to his other friends and thinking of the reasons why he is so much closer to Eugeo than anyone else. |

She had equal or less power with Quinella, and quinella had a OP boost, she know he will die no matter what, so she gave up. instead she choose to bet for a bad ending of her dying and maybe saving the other 3 for a while, against everyone dying. While I disliked that little CG showdown moment, I thought this was one of the better of episodes and very unexpected that Eugeo bites the dust? RIP Eugeo? Well, RIP to Cardinal, would have been good for her to see the Administrator to go down but we can't always have the best of happy endings. Lol and the big moment has arrived, the eventual battle with the Administrator Quinella vs the Godly Kirito! ALSO! Can someone please tell me if this has 25 episodes? or 50? And is it going to stop at 25 for a break or continue until its finished? Some sites have it marked at 25 episodes but on MAL it's "?" |

Quinella turned out to be the most cruel ruler that human territory could have had, the cruel truth about the origin of the sword golem. Poor Cardinal suffers a lot when she hears all the atrocities that Quinella has done. I felt sad when Cardinal offered herself as a sacrifice in exchange for the safety of Eugeo, Alice and Kirito, but I must say that it was so frustrating to see how the bitch of Quinella ruthlessly attacked little Cardinal. The part were Kirito approached Cardinal to apologize for his ineffectiveness was very sad and seeing Alice swear that she would protect the human territory between tears broke me, but things got worse when Eugeo asks Cardinal to transform him into a sword. Cardinal accepts and Eugeo fuses with Blue rose Sword and a crystal that I assume are the memories of Alice, since her voice is heard and then we see how her spiritual form meets Eugeo at the moment of transformation. God, how sad was for me to hear Cardinal's last words before she disintegrated. Eugeo sword manages to destroy the sword golem by destroying its core and then he confronts Quinella, but the power of the administrator is stronger and manages to damage the sword, but without first cutting off an arm to Quinella, but Eugeo regains his human form and we see how his body split in two and the Blue rose sword freezes the blood and body of Eugeo to finally break. Quinella now goes after Kirito who is devastated by the loss of his friend and when she will give him the final blow, Alice crosses the path of Quinella's sword, but Cardinal reminds him that he can still protect those he care and Kirito protects Alice in time. Now it's time for Kirito to face the cruel Quinella. This episode was so intense, with many emotions and more than anything much sadness for the death of Cardinal and Eugeo. The Cardinal death was totally unexpected, I did not think she would be forced to sacrifice her life for the three swordsmen. As for Eugeo I expected him to die since the second opening came out, I think it was quite textual that something bad would happen to him, but even so his departure was quite tragic, like the little Cardinal. Now we just have to wait for the next episode for the epic fight between Kirito and Quinella. |

@herrickluk I will say it once more and I will say it again: Don't watch something you don't like. If you do not like it then you are free to drop it and go make your own anime and see what effort it takes. Simple. Keep it to yourself. I will be the "gatekeeper" of what is important to me. You do you. I don't give a damn. |

Of course most if not all of the "criticisms" of the series are just debunked bs talking points (like how a competent character is considered "overpowered", no less than a hardworking/accomplished person in irl is seen as "privileged" in this day and age) by critics who praise/circlejerk over shows where mediocrity/victimhood (like Eva,and insert shonen shows, etc) is admired and considered "t3h deeps". Saying SAO is greatness (although not politically correct on anime forums) doesn't invalidate my points, whether it hurts someones feelings or not. preach it brother |

Its ironic how the rest of the community overhyped the show for not having a harem despite the fact that the side characters actually made it more entertaining to watch. I honestly prefer the novels. |

The anime rather feels like as if they quickly want to have it done... Especially Eugeo suffered under this and I want a reboot by a better studio just to show anime fans how great his character actually is compared to the anime... *sigh* |

Hi, today during the day I had the chance to watch episode 23 of Sword Art Online: Alicization. From mid-episode I began to notice something very interesting, which I am going to explain to you now. The automaton, created by the Administrator, presents on the surface, behind the head, a sword where, however, only the handle could be seen. The sword in question is this: I noticed a certain similarity with this other sword, present in the film (Ordinal Scale): let me know what you think, thanks. |

Oh, you made a very interesting discussion, congratulations. The only thing that does not convince me is the handle that the color is a little different between the 2 swords. However beautiful assumption! |

Well I have to say that is a very unique strategy they went with here - Step 1 literally sacrifice your MVP. Step 2 Charge in 1 at a time and die. Step 3 ??? Step 4 Profit Wasnt the fight vs the sword robot supposed to be long or something? Last EP someone said it was 300 pages. The fight in the OP/ED was longer than this and last time combined lmao First I was curious what Alicization had to offer, I quite liked the previous seasons (- second half of the first but lets just pretend that never happened) and many people said Alicization is the best part of SAO, I never really saw that, even though I liked some elememts of it, but this? I still wonder how they are going to fill the other 25 episodes. Its still supposed to be 4 seasons long right? Dont get me wrong I do want to love this, but the adaption so far makes it extremely hard to do so. And all the bUt iN tHe Ln!1! Comments here certainly dont make it better. PS: But Quinella is kinda hot and I could listen to her VA forever so Im still going to watch this as fast as possible. |

from what sao is like i expect eugeo to magically get resurrected once kirito is out of the VR thing, kinda like yui. also expecting kirito to defeat administrator with his dual blade skill in some way. but idk how the story continues because its already episode 23 and if the season ends with kirito getting back to reality then it must be a "coincidence" that his irl body finished recovery right after he defeats administrator. EDIT: yea if its 50 episodes instead of 25 then im still a bit confused, because he has to get back to reality sooner or later and i dont think the events there are enough for 20 other episodes. something completely new must be introduced there then. |

Same. I almost wish they got tomohiko itou back on the project. At this point I actually hope he just dual wields and kills her off in an epic 1 second fight. I havent looked at the staff yet but I will |

That was Quinella's plan was to lure out Cardinal by toying with the the three on the verge of death. The fight itself wasn't 300 pages but rather the entire volume of Volume 14 is. Most of the pages of light novel volume was simply pages and pages of internal monologue of the characters thoughts at that very moment of combat albeit the "actual combat" in real time goes over a split second. There has never been a practical way to convey hundreds of pages of character monologues that goes over the characters minds in the duration of a few seconds in "real time" be it in "lore" or "animation" without dragging out a very "heated but short" scene into a 100-200 episode anime in which alot of the episodes are the characters thoughts/flashbacks (like Naruto/DBZ), while the present event (the combat) is conveyed very slow motion. |

Lmao that was the dumbest thing I've seen in this series yet - Eugeo turning into a sword. CGI was bad too but also was bad for Alice's hair in some specific scenes, glaringly bad. Plot is still fine to me but I find the pacing to be extremely slow lately. |

Good lord. They couldn't have adapted this better if they tried. It's almost as good as I imagined while reading it. Quinella's face looked so scary when she's up against Eugeo. Next ep final fight. Gonna be so epic. If I didn't already read the VN I would be thinking how could it get any better... |

Well this definitely got interesting, Quintella took some damage while Cardinal is no longer with them, sacrificing herself so the others could live. While Eugeo thought he had different plans and turned into a sword. After his transformation he got cracked into 2 pieces... by the looks of it, he is dead as well, but you never know with SAO! papsoshea said: While I disliked that little CG showdown moment, I thought this was one of the better of episodes and very unexpected that Eugeo bites the dust? Some sites have it marked at 25 episodes but on MAL it's "?" Before this season started, there was stated it was going to be a 4-cour adaptation. The likes of Crunchyroll and Animelab had shared it on their socials. Source |

Its ironic how the rest of the community overhyped the show for not having a harem despite the fact that the side characters actually made it more entertaining to watch. I honestly prefer the novels. |

What an episode it is. They adapt it nice, this was a better and powerful episode. Cardinal sacrifice herself, Eugeo too for the defeat of sword golem and land a hit to Quinella. They reveal the secret of sword golem and the shining crystal at the roof. Overall emotional and great episode, the OST use heighten the scene nicely. And the climax next episode with a surprising conclusion. |

The anime rather feels like as if they quickly want to have it done... Especially Eugeo suffered under this and I want a reboot by a better studio just to show anime fans how great his character actually is compared to the anime... *sigh* |

Think you have to watch a few more anime if you think SAO is the epitome. Indeed it is, it is one of the more well written/consistent anime stories to ever be conceived of. >NPC bs bro what? stop using analogies and actually formulate an actual argument >Indeed it is, it is one of the more well written/consistent anime stories to ever be conceived of. Of course most if not all of the "criticisms" of the series are just debunked bs talking points . No they aren't. They are valid criticisms of a lack of character development and overused clichés about the Mary Sue Kirito that end up diluting the plot and making for predictable outcomes. If you enjoy that, it's fine. But that doesn't mean the story isn't bad. |

I haven't read the Novels, so if someone would explain what happened,I would really appreciate it. Because Cardinal asked Quinella to not harm Kirito, Eugeo and Alice for the price of her own life, which seemed weird to ask of her because they were going to fight her anyway, it would've been more logical to just 4Vs1 her from the beginning, but no, the Author had to kill her off just so he can make an impactful scene, Eugeo then transforms into a sword, gets his ass kicked and blown in half, kirito looks like he's losing hope, Alice who was already stomped on from the start then jumps between him and Quinella to protect him, all of a sudden a cheeky ass Flashback? Was that even a flashback? She just died 2 minutes ago for absolutely no reason but okay, and then he regains his will to fight and that's it. Pretty weird if you ask me. I'm doubting the claims of the people who say that Reki Kawahara has improved as an Author and that Alicization is his best work yet. I'm enjoying this show, but this episode was kind of weird for the reasons I've stated above. Not that this show is one of the best, but it's at least enjoyable, and that's enough. |

Cardinal would have wanted to die because her fluctlight memory had been all but used up after 200 years of living. That and she had lost her family and all her memories that were dear to her. Her entire existence was devoted to battling the cardinal for hundreds of years. In sacrificing herself she was released from the burdens of life and got to move on to the next world. and your right the novels do this better. its the fault of the studio. |

Dying didn't solve anything, and Quinella just broke her promise right away stomping those 3 kids. |

Exill said: oh man i was wondering and thought the same thing about the adaptation, i actually almost didn't feel anything when Eugeo died.I must say, I quite do not like this episode. So much talk in the beginning, for so little meaning. They skip a lot of character development of many main casts but they include this really long talk. Because of lack of development I just felt nothing when Eugeo die. And Cardinal die without doing anything. I mean Kirito still need to clean up the mess in the end.. So IMO the talk is so pointless and make the episode felt so boring to me. |
