Also Gridman has history in Japan before the anime, so of course it would be more relevant there. The only true injustice is Japan is equally sleeping on Run with the Wind. Also those stating that the Japanese have shit taste, EVERY anime made from a manga/LM/WN is because of it's Japanese fans, every anime you love is only made because of its Japanese fans and original shows are only made because of Japanese fans supporting those studios. | Meanwhile Bunny-senpai is 7th on their list.... It's not like they don't get the appeal, it's just that they have other anime in the season that they rate above it. List positions are relative, I could like Bunny-senpai about as much as the average Japanese person but have it in a much higher position, especially since I rate Index, Goblin Slayer, SAO Alicization and slime below Bunny-senpai at least at this point in the season. Besides, the most interesting part of the rating on MAL is never the absolute value that the algorithm churns out, it's the rating movement and MOST importantly the rating movement when the final episode airs. I do find that my opinion of anime coincides more with that final rating shift than the score of an anime at one point. |

Now, I must say, Bunny Girl Senpai is a tremendously lame show with a "2deep4u" dumb premise who only got so much traction because of the Bunny Girl/Mai aspect of it (not counting the reddit cult of the show). No way in hell that would be a 8.50 show for some people without it. |

When I say it's because of her, I don't mean her as a character (which I'm not fond of as well), if it were, sure, characters make a lame plot better. But I mean her design and the "fantasy" that she fulfills for the audience, what in of itself does not make a show so good as people claim it to be. Long story short, it's just Best Girl/Waifu bait dressed as deep and touching psychological show, imo. If it were seen as what it is (that being a Best Girl show), I'd have no problem with it and its rating. Personally, what bothers me is saying - and the show presenting itself as if - it's something deeper than that. |

| I would love to see the arguments against Bunny Girl Senpai — too bad it didn't dive into that much. I'm currently watching it completely unrelated to this topic; I only fount out about it because it had the same writer as The Pet Girl of Sakurasou and I've been very impressed with it. The only subjective flaw I can find with it is that it's openly nonsensical and surreal; it really does not make much sense and the "physics" in it are obviously nonsense but that's the only subjective flaw I can find in it. I think a big thing is that animation is very mainstream in Japan compared to other places which leads to all the normalfags with no taste watching it. We are not in the first week of Fall 2018, you could use this excuse when having a bunny girl was a core element of the show but it instead became a temporary gimmick that disappeared very early in the first arc. I don't think it deserves such a high rating myself but I don't see the need to make up stuff why and blame some single factor that lost relevance as soon as it was introduced. Btw: I see it as a charming little show about the MC getting involved in quirky adventures while trying to solve emotional issues of girls around. Your wording of it is more confronting and loaded than this series ever tried to be. |

| Why... is my question. I enjoyed "Bunny Girl Senpai" because it was a smart, fun and compelling series. Basically I thought of it as interesting. SSSS Gridman I also enjoyed, but not for how smart and compelling it was, but because it was fun. Basically it was entertaining. I rated the Bunny higher since my personal taste veered in it's direction. |
