Kirito guy remembered that time, and got the leader. After they ran away, he called the sister girl to save him. Needing dangerous treatment to save him. The soul of Alice girl came to talk to them when it's done.

It seems like Eugeo guy is well. It seems like that moment was like an imagination.

Continuing with cutting the tree, then Kirito guy is able to cut the most of it off now with what happened before in the cave. Eugeo guy wanting him to teach him sword fighting. He calls it "Eincrad style", huh. Eugeo guy finished cutting the tree.

Celebration since their mission is done. Eugeo guy gets a chance to choose next mission. He chose to be a swordman and one day to save Alice girl. He also wants sister girl to wait for him.

(Long? as I heard it's the longest arc ever) Journey begins.

Why do you have to add guy/girl after you mention each character?
I mean, it's not like it's gonna help anyone who's starting SAO at Alicization since you're referring to eugeo and kirito as "guys"

It was a very nice episode and I'm happy to see they definitely don't neglect the friendship between Eugeo and Kirito (though I'm a bit bitter they cut out the fight scene from the novels).

Oh dang, Kirito's 'I-almost-got-raped' face will probably go great with some Goblin Slayer memes.

The fight was really nice but I really wished they would at least give a description of the sword skills, even something like a commercial break screen info dump.

I'm really bothered by Kirito's line to Selka when trying to save Eugeo: "You're Alice's sister aren't you?" and then throughout the episode proceeds to constantly tell her shes her own person and not a replacement for her sister.

Gotta admit i really got tempted myself to make a meme with Kirito's scared face and Goblin leader but I'm too lazy xD

anyway, i think u got something wrong here, telling Selka you are alice's sister is not same as telling her you are alice's replacement.

it's more like saying you are that genius's sister ! so you can't not be a genius yourself ! it's more along the line of believe in yourself and such.

whatever wrong or right, we use this a lot in our daily real life as well, and it's always for encouragement or praising someone.

The blue rose sword is eugeo's. Eugeo is the one who brought the sword back from the cave so its his and not kirito's.

I'm suprised so many people expected Kirito to get the blue rose sword. Did they not see the promo art and the Op?

Fight was cool. The goblin was more stubborn than I expected.

They finally chopped down the tree!

I’m a little sad that we probably won’t see Selka again anytime soon.

I love SAO, mainly because the fight animation is my favourite and the best I've seen ; and with this season, olive how the creative direction made these NPC "fluctlights" seem like they're a game character -especially those goblins.
I don't get how all those !I've namescams to kirito, I've not been able to recall them from previous but oh well... However, what ticked me off were those goblins; I know goblins work effectively under leader of some sort (usually another hideous thing, like an ogre) but they're still horde creatures. Yet as soon as Kirito's brandishing that giant goblin head they ran off -I'm sure that horde as capable of overpowering kirito [the god].
Kirito ya bish, you best not be adding another member to your harem... I'm seeing selka croppin' in there so stone soon -
By the way, don't Koreans or Japanese people refer to selfies as selkas or selca

Anyways. I don't know whos character dynamics kirito and Eugeo's reminding me of!

Honestly that was probably the best SAO episode I have watched in my life. Every minute of those twenty minutes I was fully into it and on the edge of my seat. When the Swordland variation played I got goosebumps. This episode was so well done, the battle scene was intense and with real blood and emotion. Everything seemed to click. The art and animation was incredible. Kirito didn't seem as OP as in previous times, he seemed vulnerable even scared in that one shot of his face and literally was on the brink of death. The character dev between Kirito and Eugeo is something I am definitely looking forward to. Really good episode all in all, and I am loving Alicization so far!

Dude, wait. Just wait there a little longer, and you'll see something more than just this episode. They even lower the thrill and cut some scenes from the novel, and the result still stunning. So if you can wait a little longer, at least 10 - 15 more episodes, then you'll see the more more badasses, brutal and bloodbath of SAO.

When I say more, I mean, WAY WAY more.

Sorry if it sounds like overreacting, but you'll see.

Something didn't feel right with this episode, I really liked all the previous ones tho..

1. Not enough Kirito talking to himself about the events that happened.
2. Nitpicky but Kirito's deep cut arm got better a few moments later during the fight, blood gone, handicap gone.
3. Kirito's movements during the battle were way over-unrealistic and overpowered, was that "real life movements" or "in-game boosted movements" ?
4. So Kirito remembers about Alice/Eugeo ? To what degree, and why isn't he talking to himself about it.

I like SAO and am looking forward for more, but I might have set my expectations too high today.

Really good episode, I'm enjoying Alicization a lot more than the previous seasons. I was not expecting A-1 to pull together enough resources for movie-quality animation, expecially since they out-source a lot of their work.

Just curious, is the world-building and story happening in Underworld (Eugeo and Kirito heading out to save Alice) in any way related to anything in the real world of SAO?

Or at least the Key visual / poster ?

Ok first, that's not Kirito's sword, that's Eugeo.
Second

But it's ok, so many people think that blue rose sword will be Kirito's but actually it's not

2. Just realised the blood completely disappeared in a few moments lol, but the handicap might have been removed due to adrenaline although I'm not sure how much it applies to injuries.
3. It's most likely boosted in-game movements. Kirito and Eugeo were suddenly able to wield the Blue-Rose sword right after the cave fight, which raised their Object Control Authority.
4. From what I know so far, Kirito doesn't really have any memories, but he did react to Alice's name and his promise with Alice and Eugeo. These actions may be sub-conscious and Kirito might not realise that he has any connection with the past events.

Sas(k)uga! A1. That fight is worth the wait, thinking just how the fights will be animated later, makes me anticipated.

I'm not that bothered with the cut scenes from the LN, since that's too mich content for this episode. At least they got all the main plot points. The scene about what thing is on Kirito's back will probably be flashback.

Okay next episode

ufotable and Silver Link just handle the "in between" animation for (some) spesific episode(s)
And Production I.G handle the monitor graphic

A-1 still the main studio and handle all parts (?) especially the animation

Alice is an AI that manage to defy the system, that make her quite special. Why that is important? Well, you have to know why Underworld was build in the first place which will be explained later.

great episode great fight and the music too, as expected from Yuki Kajiura. But they cut 2 big scenes in this episode:

1. Eugeo fights Zink
2. Kirito talks to Selka and kiss her on the forehead, the anime replaced kirito with eugeo

i guess if the scene Kirito kissed Selka appear, it would bring chaos to the fandom lol.

An epic episode this time again, like, really.

But as a novel reader I think this episode is a little bit rushed ? Because some (or many ?) scenes are cut, and some of em are important, like why Kirito and Eugeo finally can hold the sword is too fast for me, and Eugeo vs Jink.
But hey, it's anime, and it's so good. Especially the fight scene, I didn't expect it'll be this awesome, I mean, really awesome. Really love the battle and of course, the MUSIC, sasuga Yuki Kajiura.

So I think next episode will be the real world scene to explain what happened to Kirito

well thats the point but, jink already seeing kirito sword skill and thats enough to show off and i think this is still on great pace.

Just a fantastically balanced episode where Kirito is a badass but there are moments where he is weak because he hasn't been in those situations that intense either ever or in awhile.
The ending does remind me of Black Clover and I'm more than okay with that.
Kirito teaching Eugo and they accomplish that massive task together which really means its so important of teamwork and what Kirito needs in order to get back to his reality.
Action Drama and pacing is what carries this so far and I'm gonna watch this episode eight times before the next episode comes along.

Hello, everyone!

I finally get my girlfriend to watch an anime episode with me again. I told her how they're in a beautiful fantasy world with a village and villagers and nature, etc. And then while we're eating it's all in a dark cave, fighting ugly goblins. I should have looked up Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, if I could have remembered the name. (Also fighting, but outside, and very beautiful.)

So I couldn't truly appreciate the fight and finally had to fast forward. But watching it again, yes, it's good.

Irongretta said:
Okay, I looked it up and that's what it says in the light novel:
"The Gigas Cedar - steel giant, tyrant of the forest - toppled without much fanfare just five days after I began training Eugeo in the ways of the Aincrad School." (p. 241)

Well, they should have shown that better in the anime. They could have shown them having dinner at home and getting up in the morning in between practice, so we'd know it was several days. It looked like just one day to me, which was the only thing I didn't like about the episode.

Nah, the whole point of the duel vs Jink was not to show off Kirito, but to show off Eugeo - they actually purposely skipping on some on his scenes or even changing them, which is surprising to me - I even believe that they are afraid that it will raise hate towards arc (basically the reason why many people hated Mother Rosario for Yuuki being stronger than Kirito).

I guess technically this cannot be considered spoiler since all these moments were cut from the anime but what happened - most of the elder villagers were almost blaming Eugeo for finishing his Sacred Task, since they anticipated that it wasn't that big of a deal and he just cheated somehow and yes Eugeo's father was one of this people, but in the end everybody had to follow the Village's Rules and of course the Taboo Index so they had the celebration and gave Eugeo the opportunity to choose his next Sacred Task. There was a small funny moment, where Kirito got scared, because he forgot to talk with Eugeo about going to Centoria (capital city of this world) and that Eugeo could choose farmer or something else as his new Sacred Task, but Selika mentioned that from his face it was obvious that Eugeo make up his mind and trully wants to leave the village.

Lastly Jink's father - former Guard of the village, opposed Village's Elder and said that it is unfair to let some wood chooper aim for the city guard, before his son Jink - actuall guard of the village, wasn't able to have a chance at becomming one (in Underworld they have special tournaments which allow village guards to become promoted into the city guards and step by step even Integrity Knights), so Eugeo had to prove his strength by fighting Jink in a duel, and Eugeo agreed. Then Kirito became trully desperate (he wasn't that confident in his friend's abilities due to inexperience) and decided to help Eugeo with the fight - he told him to use the move called "Horizontal Strike" which is the most basic sword art from SAO and is the only skill that Eugeo managed to fully grasp while they were hitting the tree. Kirito's plan was for Eugeo to repeat what Kirito did in duel vs Kuradeel (Asuna's ex-guard from SAO), so Eugeo would use horizontal strike on Jink's sword and eventually break it, due to blue rose being superior sword. However everything didn't go according to plan, Jink changed his sword direction from vertical to horizontal, so Eugeo would miss it if he aimed for "Horizontal Strike" and then Eugeo went for unexpected move, he used "Vertical" as the name suggests vertical strike with the blade and cut the Jink's sword apart (Kirito then gets amused by the fact that Eugeo learnt this skill on his own, probably by practising while they were resting after chopping activities and reflects on how Eugeo has huge potential as a swordsman, he even feels unease due to the fact that Eugeo might reach Kirito's lvl of skill with enough practise and even overcome him).

There are also other small details such as rules of the Sword Duels, which are the same as in SAO (more or less) and the part with the giant tree, mentioned previously in this discussion, but I assume that these details will be covered later as a small filters, so you should not worry about them.

This episode was pretty violent by SAO standards. It was pretty cool to see Kirito and this dude Eugeo go at it with some goblins...Goblin Slayer is better if you want to see some goblin slashing.
ANYWHO...
In typical SAO fashion, Kirito gets STUPIDLY strong after one fight *insert eye roll* now he can cut down big ass trees. *sigh* Will continue to follow this series and document my thoughts for a review on this season. Ciao bella!

it's not only kirito who got strong tho, it's also Eugeo, it's a simple level up that they got and they had the weapon to use ! the Tree is not any final boss and is just an object, they still took a week or so to destroy it

even Selka got level up coz she was near them, but Anime cut that part off.

btw, anime reduced the gore and violence, it's several time worse in novel and this whole arc is FULL OF IT. way worse than this scene.

That’s what my friends who read the light novels and manga say.

Damn, this was fulfilling and intense episode!

Production Value for this show is remarkable and I really hope they keep this up throughout the four cours of the show! Action Choreography was phenomenal and with the assist of those glorious soundtracks made the action scenes even more epic! Great stuff!
Kirito regaining his overpowered form during the fight was amusing to see despite being a little too convenient and whatnot. Eugeo really pulled off a great turnaround from his scaredy-cat side and that was great to see, although the end results for him wasn’t too merry-way. Selka and Kirito sharing their life(points?) with Eugeo and the transition of the scene where they just fastforwarded a day or two felt odd but nothing too much of bother. Alice though, what was all that about?
Looks like Eugeo has finally taken down the Gigas Cedar after taking lessons from Kirito of swordsmanship. It felt a little pacey then but at least it wasn’t dragged on to make a cliffhanger during the Gigas Cedar cutting scene. Eugeo wants to be become a swordman now, can’t say I wasn’t expecting that. Conversations between Kirito and Selka and Eugeo and Selka was nice.
Finally, the two have stepped out of the village to head to the Central City, I was honestly expecting this to come after the first cour or so. I’m looking forward to seeing how their journey goes now!

OK no..after 3 decently to well written episodes.. I'm just halfway through the episode and I can't take it.. now Kirito's mastered that sword because reasons...lol...
The whole episode has been so mega poorly written so far (understatement) it makes me wanna rip my eyes out..the pain

Imagine thinking this anime had any chance of being decent this time...back to being trash again sigh
(some people will probably think it's good because of that awful action sequence....sigh SAO...you were so close)

Pure garbage

Edit: OK...somehow I've survived through it...wow...that went downhill real quick. Legit only good parts were the OP song..some parts of the OST...and the ending song

...before I end up on an angry rant essay I'ma need to breathe and get my thoughts together cause that ep was just..insulting to say the least

Imagine not being able to brain. Kirito was able to use the sword, not mastered it at all. By killing the goblin boss, he and Eugeo leveled up. They are far from being a proper swordsman.

You should just drop it and never come back if you can't understand something so simple. :D

They made a few changes and cut somethings too like eugeo vs jink but overall it was a good adaptation considering they had a lot of content to cover with just an episode.

Im still salty they made eugeo shout selka's name when he didnt in the light novel and people started calling him useless, but i hope they can look past that and see how amazing he is as a character now that his development is beginning.

yes, Jink is the guy that spoke with Eugeo and Kirito in episode 2. he's the stationary guard of Ruild and he's salty with the fact that Eugeo casually stated that he wants to be a swordsman. According to the laws of the village, he has to complete 10 years of service as a guard before he could leave the village to polish his sword skills and become a full fledged swordsman. So, he was angered with the idea that Eugeo could leave the village to pursue what it supposed to be his own goal. so him and his father (The previous stationary guard) propose that Eugeo proves his mettle in a duel with jink. if he wins he gets to become a swordsman as he wishes, else he would have to wait until jink finishes his 10 year term.

Eugeo's family was not pleased with bis decision to become a swordsman by the way. that would mean that there would be losing a set of hands to help out on the field

the rest of the stuff that they missed out was pretty subtle. the skipped a lot out of the part where kirito realizes that the goblins weren't simple AI but artificial fluctlights just like Eugeo and the other villagers. and the didn't show much of his own suffering of the rather mild injury he suffered in his fight. being the simple highschool boy in reality that he is, he isn't used to pain at all and was down for a long while from the flesh-wound. While Selka was performing the sacred art on Eugeo, kirito's vision faded and he was literally about to die because of the life transfer, that's when the mysterious girl come over and hugs him from behind, telling him what she does, in the episode. then suddenly kirito regains consciousness and carries Eugeo back. he brings the head of Ugachi with him and shows it to the village leader and warns them of the potential threat.

the package that kirito carries on his back at the end of the episode is actually the highest branch on the now felled gigas cedar. the previous generation woodcutter call Eugeo and told him to cut of the tallest branch of the demonic tree that has absorbed the most of the Sun's blessings in a single strike. he then wraps it up and hands it to kirito instructing them to hand it over to a craftsman named Sadre who has his shop in the 7th avenue of northern centoria. he's an old friend of his who would make the branch into a great sword that would not be inferior to the blue rose sword that Eugeo weilds.

This is a fun extra bit but a few village elders wanted to punish Kirito and Eugeo for cutting down the tree 900 years early

Imagine saying Kirito's far from being a proper swordsman after watching him kill a freaking boss...why even bother with progression and reasonable storytelling..it's the SAO anime... It's Kirito-kun

Of course they can't handle the sword...at least they weren't able to handle it so well as to do enough damage to cut down the tree..definitely can't use it...definitely (seriously..all that damage... I love SAO man....you know they won't be doing that type of damage when using it onwards but I digress.. lol)

If you're just going to keep fanboying on me please don't bother wasting your anger on me and replying. Thank you
