| I don't mind homosexuality in anime so long as, like everything else, it's well executed. I actually really liked Sekaiichi Hatsukoi and Hybrid Child made me weep. Being a straight man, however, I vastly prefer guy x girl relationships. In simple terms, I have no interest in the concept of homosexuality. I don't see any reason why it should have any part in my life, but I don't reject its existence nor do I stop other people from participating in it. And yet it's not really about homosexuality. The main characters just happen to be gay. What makes Nikiforov a funny and interesting character is his effeminate personality, and that's what is making it so original, but the main focus in the anime is ice skating. It won't change my opinion at all about it if in the end they become a couple or not, that's just a detail. |

I also think sports anime tend to be boring in my opinion. Now, if it were an all female cast, I still wouldn't watch it. | Humu, I think that we should at least question the meanings of things, like that guy, Shakespeare, once pointed with a simple phrase from one of his pieces: "To be or not to be, that's is the question" Meaning that all is a mere "proposition" and the acceptance of propositions with the passage of time, turns everything into apparent truths. The thing becomes a problem when instead of proposition to the meaning of things, we have impositions, that through general media and conservative educational methods, tends to create a certain systematic ignorance; It creates well educated people on the social level, but that can't reach more than simple acceptance of the general consensus, as opposed to being able to question the meanings and usefulness of any belief and/or social practice ( consciousness ). I call it a problem, because it breads the stop of evolution no matter how you look at it; it even creates a certain war on consciousness, and even straight out hate for those that like to think, and as history shows, those that think are the ones that move forward, those that chose the easy path of hating before analyzing, are generally left behind. That the very concept of "sexuality" is still a thing, totally baffles me to this day, as defining something that can be so immense and far reaching as love or sheer pleasure and desire with words and rules, is nothing more than a dying practice of those that despise change out of fear. |

| @Trance I don't think you realize, that there's actually no precedent in japan for anti-homosexuality. Especially gay men, it was just a normal thing of normal life in the past, and many famous people in the past were known to be not exactly straight - including Nobunaga. The anti-homosexuality crept in once christianity started getting it's fingers into everything. But at any rate, homosexual guys are actually acknowledged to the point of just being background noise. Far more than lesbianism is. If any homosexuality has suppression in japan, it's lesbians. |

| Well, I mean, I like watching two males in a romantic relationship, I don't really like watching two females in a romantic relationship. I both respect that everyone has a thing that they are attracted to but I think people who watch this type of stuff should understand it's up to prefrence and too be honest, Yuri on Ice isn't supposed to be focused on romance or anything but the actual sports. I think way too many people are using it as a romantic relationship for all the shounen-ai or yaoi all over the world when it's not suppose to focus on that but rather the sports itself. I really do hope to see some good relationships between the same gender in the future and this is coming from a person who typically doesn't go out of their way to watch romances as I prefer supernatural and stuff lol. |
