though we all know who he really is, its still kinda funny seeing him randomly pop up out of nowhere (with all his stuff too) and just be like "hello, funny seeing you again"

This.
This episode reveals almost nothing, but it leaves with too many questions. Like, let's say - the fake stars. Or the matter about these contractors and dolls. Well, of course I don't expect to see these stories told so early. The pilot episode is really nice. The art style is kind of cool and... fancy? I felt great when the blond guy said that the contractors aren't humans with normal personalities, not to talk about the "dolls". This will make the story better imo.
Lol at the stereotypical afro.
And lol at the strange(for an anime) names. Especially Li.
I think this is one of the only anime in which I look forward to the preview for the next episode. Water Forest by Yoko playing with Yin speaking as if she were reciting a poem is pure Ecstasy at times (english dub)
The first episode was awesome. I like how the story develops slowly, but still keeps you interested. You can also feel the mystery in the air, which is what I love about anime.
Interesting start of the series has a nice dark atmosphere around it and seems to have a decent pace, the current characters are bit messy not sure who is who but well it seems quite interesting!
Lets see what this anime has to offer! Lets see if this is marathon material!
I love the facial expression they all have at some points and the red eyes the contractors have and of course his mask expect a lot
"When a flat-chested loli hugs you, she holds you closer to her heart"
"--I am a single bullet. It has no heart. Therefore, it does not think. It just flies straight towards its target."
Well knowing the praise this anime gets, I'm sure it'll get more interesting later on. The first episode didn't give me that much of an impression though. It wasn't boring per se, but just...didn't fully catch my attention. Looking forward to learning about the contractors, and Hei too. He looks very mysterious.
It seems interesting but I didn't understand what was going on.
I'm sure that answers will be given in the next ep.
I already loved soundtrack especially the ED.
"And if, there were so many people in the world, there had to be someone living an interesting life that wasn't ordinary. I was sure of it. Why wasn't that person me?"

The ED is beautiful. Gorgeous music, gorgeous singing.
Not that into the art... All the males have solid eyeballs. O_o
Anyway, I somewhat liked this first episode, so 4/5. It's boring at times yet I got completely engaged into the plot and atmosphere halfway through. The MC and the orange haired girl are really interesting and the directing is really good. Although, I'm really confused right now, I think I'll keep watching for sure.
Wow, that first episode was pretty awesome! I liked Li's personality, and the mystery that surrounds him. Oh, and his mask. It's just amazing. I'm looking forward to whatever's next!
Checking this out after a blog recommended it and it seems pretty interesting so far. I'm gonna need a few more episodes before I get hooked, but this was a nice start. Almost feels like the set-up for a good noir.
i was reccommended this after watching code geass and the first episode makes this series seem promising so i'll watch it hopefully it lives up to its hype
Li has been in town for a single day and already looks like hes in the middle of something pretty big, question is if he wanted to be in the middle of it from the start?...
"Urushibara Ruka. The mannerisms and voice of a woman... No... More feminine than any woman. But he's a guy. Taller than Mayuri, but so very thin... But he's a guy. Looks great in a miko outfit... But he's a guy. It's already twilight And yet, it's so hot. The cicadas are crying. But... He's a guy."
Arkthur_us said: I like Li's eyes, they are like a void. Says a lot about him if you pay attention.
I heard an interesting theory that this is to represent the night sky that is full of fake stars. Hei's eyes are an empty void just like the false night sky.
The afternoon has gently passed me by
The evening spreads its sail against the sky
Waiting for tomorrow
Just another day
God bid yesterday goodbye...
First impressions so far are. . . meh. Don't feel like the first episode has 'hooked' me. I see why I dropped it a year ago. I am going to stick it out and finish the series this time though. Atleast it seems the MC has some discernible character to him, and isn't a cookie cutter anime caricature. The red headed female (damsel in distress) is already annoying me, I hope she isn't in it for much longer.
This Anime has been on my plan to watch list since forever. I decided to finally watch it.
Smooth....kissing her wasn't needed, but he did it anyway.
Looking good. Let's see how this will go.
