Thanks, I hope it's just as good as the 110 episode ova, which I gave a 10/10.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I completed City Hunter as well, back in February. I gave it an 8/10.

I watched the Casshern OVA last night. It was the first thing I watched from the franchise, and while I found the plot rather ridiculous, I loved the animation, and of course, the character designs by Yasuomi Umetsu.

Me too. I had totally forgotten about the new adaptation. The most of the time I don't agree with this thing of making new adaptations, but in this case I'm so anxious for see it.

Recently I finished "One Thousand and OneNights" from Mushi Pro. I think that the plot is a secondary element in this title. For me the animation is the real protagonist: are fucking awesome all the experimental things that Mushi Pro put in this work.

I just finished watching an anime movie called Windaria and...oh, it has so much to like but has a huge glaring flaw that bogs it down!

Just actually finished GTO even though I had already marked it finished even though I had actually dropped it after the first season. Now I remember why. And that ending. Just totally sad. Wish it waited for the manga instead of doing filler episode after filler episode. It was so poorly thought out. The first season was so good and was like a 9/10 anime to me and something that made me feel so good. I regret actually finishing it.

I also finished Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon because I want to finish all the series before the new one comes out.

Just completed the Project A-Ko movie and realized I saw it a very long time ago. C-Ko was really annoying though... really liked A-Ko. "C-Ko isn't property you know" was a great line.

I've just watched this movie as well and I came out with mixed thoughts.

It has a message and delivers it fairly well, I quite liked the animation, and overall it just has a cool vibe to it. Reminded me of Nausicaa a bit but more just anti-war and commenting on human greed in general than taking a full on environmentalism approach. The visuals were cool as well, the scene in the forest of doubt(?) especially was memorable. I kept feeling like Yoshitaka Amano did the character designs but apparently not.

But the writing felt lacking more than a few times, the stuff the characters would do seemingly made no sense at times. It felt like maybe with some more time dedicated to showing us why character a is going to suddenly become a completely different person and betray character b out of no where, it would have been a lot better. It didn't help that the main character was a heinous douchebag with no redeeming qualities either. I guess in a way that could be some of the point, but man, they really wanted to drive it home.

To me, Windaria felt like a Anime version of Macbeth mixed with some elements of Romeo and Juilet for good measure, so the main character didn't bother me too much, what I really liked about the film is the incredibly grim tone, as its up there with GE999 The Movie, Queen Millennia, GOTF and EOE in terms of a very somber mood. The character designs and set pieces looked stunning, since they were by Mutsumi Inomata of Tales fame. Its something I'd love Discotek to pick up one day, since all we ever got was the horrific Once Upon a Time Streamline dub where they removed many scenes and dumbed it down alot, even for their standards.

I've been really lazy with old school stuff. I've only watched Onii-sama e this year. It doesn't quite reach to be a personal favorite, but it had its moments. Mainly how the characters reflected about stuff in the end. Everyone is crazy, but all in all I think pretty much everyone got a satisfying and even somewhat uplifting resolution to their stories.

Daicon III & IV Opening Animation - just an amazing piece of work. Especially Daicon IV is epic. Its probably the most influential anime which made Gainax studio a possibility. 5 minute action filled with Star Wars, Star Trek, Space Battleship Yamato, Batman, Spiderman, Godzilla and more. I can't believe I have not watched this sooner.

As for myself, I must say I preferred the second season. It had the catchiest music in the franchise, and the production quality had increased remarkably from the first Season. Then, the entire franchise is godly.I wish there were more 80s series like it.

The last old shool anime I watched was City Hunter '91. I've been putting it off for a long time, because I didn't want it to end. It was an amazing ride, after I watched all the episodes and movies, I miss it a lot. I wish Kamiya Akira would make another great seiyuu appearance.

Akira Kamiya it's probably the best seiyuu ever. I totally loved his performance as Ryo Saeba, Ryouma Nagare and the almighty KENSHIRO. I wish the same.

I finished Oniisama e...

At first, it was so good I already knew it would be a top 10 anime for me. Suddenly, everything went south and I just felt empty at the ending. It didn't feel genuine or to the spirit of Oniisama e... I would go as far as as soon as a certain major event towards the end happened... everything fell apart. It tried to salvage itself and it does end in a positive light, but all this build up all of those epic moments.... I'm disappointed. It's a solid anime regardless. I'm not disregarding the majority of the series that got my so hype.

I just finished the Esper Mami franchise, and I must say I loved every second of it. Design-wise, it managed to give it's characters as well as the backgrounds that certain realistic touch so characteristic for the eightees, while still preserving the unique style of the Fujio Fujikos. The animation was decent for a show of 100+ episodes, and most episodes I found really heartwarming, several even giving me feels.

It didn't really deserve Sevakis' harsh, and somewhat jaded, critisism.

I recently watched a 1986 OVA called California Crisis a few days ago. The style is quite unique. Although the ending seemed a bit anti-climatic. Then again, the emphasis was made more on the journey. There's also something about "The American Dream" but I have no clue what was being implied there.

I liked how the story plays out as though it was adapted from a live-action film script. Someone pointed about how one particular scene would have been filled with modern anime cliches if it was done nowadays.
