Well in the LN, this ep (and the few ep before it) was more of a Asia arc (like how some characters have a arc that is more focus on them).

Also regarding (1.) I don't think it was an overreaction. Losing someone important to them (be it lover or a family-like member) is sure to instill heavy emotions (I actually know the feeling). After what Issei has been through with Asia and losing her "again" just when he saved her, it's sure to give some major emotional breakdown.

At this point it all really make sense. If it was Asia arc, there no questions why there was such reaction and why there was so much of Asia.
But still i get feeling of too much of Asia. More like they only serialize her arcs :D And a bit of other

As i understand, you are reading novel, right ? Is this just serialization makes catch on Asia ? What about arc per each character, is they equal to each other, or some one has more ?

As for a rank, It goes Rias > Asia > Akeno. At least Akeno said she didn't mind being number 3 in NEW.

He loves Rias more than the others, but he doesn't feel such need to potrect her and the others besides Asia since they are more independent.

Since season 1 he's been saying he wants a harem, so I don't think he'll choose one. and just leave the others.

Protection, of course. I have no doubt in it. But still too much of Asia and too less of Rias, or Akeno.
There is no doubt that he loves Rias more than others. But why almost every episode makes me to doubt in it.

Issei's juggernaut drive transformation is pretty insane.

Ophis makes her debut in this episode.

Well, Asia is above Akeno in the "hierarchy" (at this point in time at least, she's the only one Rias accepts being intimate with Ise without being jelly about it.) so no surprise there.

As someone said, it was mostly because this was Asia's arc, and besides this and the first volume (the thing with Reynare) she doesn't really get the spotlight much. Since she's kind of in the back most of the time, the author tries to make her arcs more about her than other arcs are about their "focus character". (Kiba's arc in NEW also had the thing with Xenovia, Irina, and a bit of Akeno)

Yeah each LN usually has a theme character to it.

LN 1: Was a little of everyone but I say it was a Rias, Asia one.
LN 2: Rias
LN 3: Asia
LN 4: Akeno
LN 5: Koneko
LN 6: Xenovia
LN 7: Irina
LN 8: Asia and Rias Cover but this was a short story chapter and wasnt really focused on anyone. The last part advanced plot.
LN 9: Rossweisse
LN 10: Rias (And great fucking fight, lol) (My favorite LN)
LN 11: Ophis
LN 12: Rias
LN 13: Akeno Cover but Short stories Volume
LN 14: Ravel
LN 15: Serafall Cover but was a short stories chapter for first half, second half advances plot.
LN 16: Gasper
LN 17: Rossweisse
LN 18: Irina
LN 19: Xenovia
LN 20: First ever Issei Volume

Some LN's are focused on the character its about more so then others. Some go heavy on the character and some just brush up on a character. Usually the cover character is the focus but for example Volume 6 had Xenovia on it and while it did show some of her it also had a lot of Asia.

Hope that helps.

Still that didn't change the fact of (my) feeling of too much of Asia. But for now i thinks that this is only because of such serialization. Better be going to start reading novel.

I'm hoping for some normal arcs about Xenovia, or even Irina or Rossweisse. After Koneko become nekomimi - it's changed my world :D I want more arc with her too.

JD was pretty different from how I imagined in the LN tbh ^^; and so was the chant. I thought it will be shouted in rage or well not like this...but it was monotone with more than one of the Sekiryutei's past users chanting it. Still pretty cool. I guess it'll become like Vali when he masters it.

Share a got so REKT!

Nice seeing Ophis. Like her voice :3 and Great Red looks awesome.

The covers don't equal the main focus (At least before the 4th arc it didn't)

1= Ise and Asia (Rias didn't really play much of a role or develop any feelings for Ise, she was just his master at this point)
3= Kiba
6= Asia
7= Akeno
8= Noone (Except for the last chapter, which was Rias's)
9= Noone (Could be considered the Church Trio's, but I don't think so)
11&12= The Gremory Group.

The Cover character like it says doesn't always mean their character arc (can be close or be just a brush up like what it says above)

Although I do agree one thing regarding on your issues with Asia being a major focus. They added this much focus and development on Asia, but not so much on Koneko and Akeno in comparison. You may not know it (since it looks like you don't read LN) but their character arcs were also done in the earlier episodes. In comparison to theirs, Asia did give more impact to me then theirs.

Regarding Rias, they are actually building on to her arc if you have picked them (the small hints and buildups) up throughout ALL the episodes (those small pickups/hints are anime original and not LN).

I kinda hope you also get the overreaction part is not really a overreaction to me. It doesn't matter who is first, second, or third (Rias, Asia, Akeno). Losing an important someone (not matter who're their "rank") is sure to bring great sorrow and negative emotions. I did mention that the Jaggernaut Drive also probably was involve in the crazy emotions Issei was experiencing (fueling the sorrow he was experiencing).

She pulled part of it or suppressed it enough to let Rias reach Issei. Because that whole Raynare thing is very important in later events.

I love how the Juggernaut Drive transformation was animated, including the JD chant. Didn't hear the Oppai Dragon song in here, but this still turned out well either way.

Those were some really intense fights and that Shalba guy got pwned! Vali was pretty cool stopping berserk Issei with his own Juggernaut Drive. And so glad that Asia is safe. :)

I didn't really see Ophis from the extra scenes from the BD from DxD New, but so glad to finally see her here in DxD BorN. o/

What point should I start reading the LN? Glad to hear there are anime-only stuff, I always think of anime as separate continuity from the source to avoid being pissed or disappointed (if they skip a lot of info for example). The song will probably be used in the final fight, maybe he goes JD and they use song to "focus" him or something

I would reccommend from the start since it's just really fun to read IMO.

But if you don't want to you can start reading from volume 5. BorN changed some stuff from it so you'd be a bit lost (V6 was 99% the same and V7 is not finished yet.)

Volume 8 and 13 are made of short stories, I don't reccomend you skip since they are hilarious, but if you don't want to, just read the last chapter of those books since they are actually tied up heavily with the plot.

Half of volume 15 is also short stories, but they are told as flashbacks, so it's important to read them. Again, they are hilarious so it's worth it.

Highschool DXD dont stop amazing us with incredible episodes. They made some nice intro with ep 1 and 2 with battles, then some amazing harem fun now we have incredible battles all over the place.

You just can't not love Issei, he is the opposite of dense Male protagonists on harem/echhi animes, he uses his testosterone, male lust power to protect at all costs friends and her female harem. The girls are pretty, hot and cute at the same time which makes us men really relate of the hate of Issei when someone hurt our loved female ones.

I'm just out of words with DXD, i really get emotional watching, this is so much fun.

I'm really going to say that as i said in past episodes, this is the best harem/ecchi anime of all times. That's it.

Is it weird to cry at some points in the episode? I never shed some tears like since first season.

The only arc that almost got me into tears was Kiba's (2nd season).

That episode was too epic.......Juggernaut Drive by both Issei and my boy Vali.....My body wasn't ready for this amazing action and display of emotion

Rias' big brother is powerful as fuck too btw O_O Ophis seems pretty cool and I love Vali's goal in life....I hope that he succeeds :'')

I really enjoyed this episode. Ophis sure is a mysterious character.

I do hate Diodora Astaroth for kidnapping Asia, but I wish that Issei was the one to kill him, not Shalba. It was really an intense fight.

I think Shalba was beaten too easily, even if Issei did use Juggernaut Drive. I would have sure liked a longer fight. Oh well.

I really like the chant for the Juggernaut Drive. The scenes like the Raynare flashback and what happened with Rias were good, but I kinda wanted Asia to be the one to bring Issei back to normal since she was the one who caused Issei to transform.

Overall, it was a good episode.

Spoiler!!!!
Shalba Beelzebub didn't die in this episode.

Juggernaut drive is just sooo badass

"I, who is about to awaken,
Am the Heavenly Dragon who has stolen the principles of domination from God
I laugh at the "infinite", and I grieve at the 'dream'
I shall become the Red Dragon of Domination
And I shall sink you to the depths of the crimson purgatory!"

This scene gave me goose bumps

Pretty obvious that Asia wasn't dead. Still pretty crazy seeing everyone's reactions to. Especially Issei's. Dem glowing green eyes doe!

Dat Jaggernaut Drive was beastly! Curious what a complete version would be like.

Damn Issei once again fodderised that guy!

Seems we got a end goal now. The dragon gods!!!

I think this the best action scene yet (although it makes me feel like they should come up with a stronger villain because if felt to me they were all to easy) !!

If there is a next season the antagonists will be far more capable, so don't worry, the easy fodder are gone. :D

So we finally get to see Issei's JD..half assed it might be but still DAMN....

I do believe DXD initially meant Great Red in the sense he is the Dragon of Dragons,The True Dragon God untill

We also get to see Ophis(for the love of all,its not Orphis) and Vali also gets some characterization. If people are wondering how ridiculously powerful Sirzechs is,don't worry you haven't seen him going serious. He is a fucking monster. Those eyes though.

Also, the interactions between Xenovia and Asia at the end were pretty good. They did change the way Issei turned back into his normal state though.Where is the OPPAI song?I guess they will be storing it for the Loki fight.Definitely the best episode of the series until now.The tension was felt throughout the episode.

To the LN readers.
1. Why can Issie use Gaspers power? He never absorbed it
2. What did Ophis pull from the MC? I don't mind if the answer is a spoiler.

It's good to see Archer (Sirzech), Kerry (Azazel), and Umi (Ophis) in one scene.

Well one thing is for certain in this episode. The hype was real, and I was absolutely satisfied with the Juggernaut Drive scene. That's not counting Sirzechs' Ruin the Extinct. I wish was the scene where Issei bit off Shalba's arms was a bit more graphic but then again this is DxD...

One thing I didn't like about this episode though... WHERE IS THE OPPAI DRAGON SONG?! They had it for one of the new season previews and hyped the song up so WHERE WAS IT?!

They're probably saving it for the final fight with Loki

guessing issei will b in complete form of juggernaut drive?

Valis actually pretty cool sometimes. Him and Issei had a bro moment.
Although Issei and Asia should have had a more emotional reunion.
