I wonder where they will take it. The manga is just 2 weeks away from completion. Anyways I hope the manga ending is a nice one since they said the adaptation will follow the manga.

It's going to be a "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" type deal where the manga publishers and the anime producers match the ending dates for both (within 1 month).

I was half serious, but I put them more or less on the same level. Can't really compare it fully since this one hasn't ended yet. But one of the things I prefer is that Shigatsu has a theme whereas Ano Hana is just about childhood friends.

Nah. I think Nagi no Asukara was way better than this one and still had ways to go before it could reach the same feat as Ano Hana. This one overdoes a bit too much in the drama department. True that it still has 8 episodes to change my opinion on it.

Also I need to mention that some of the episodes were sleep inducing.

That can be said for Nagi no Asukara which had a slow start. I personally have found all of Shigatsu's released episodes very engaging so far.

But yeah, let's not turn this into a xx vs yy thread, pls.

Anohana have few themes and rounds about the weight of losing people that are dear and the fragility of people's relations. Its not something unusual or as "attractive" as Shigatsu but well, there's a theme right there, its not just empty stuff with cute characters and a loli-ghost yelling "Jinta!" *laughs*

The fact that most of the characters have no hobbies other than being sad and angsty all the time makes it hard to find any complexity in them. I think it's more than just cute ghost girl with her living friends but I'd rather have the characters actually have lives other than around their friends.

But yeah, there are themes. Just not enough for me.

Ano Hana's strengths are in the other aspects, honestly. Btw, let's stop this because it's derailing this thread.

The end was so dramatic and intense, but I think is a good thing that Tsubaki finally found what she feels for Kousei, even though, I feel bad for her; and I loved the soundtrack <3. I wonder what will happen with Kaori!!

poor Tsubaki... ;-;

THIS episode was sleep inducing aside from a few moments and the ending. Like, damn, these last few episodes are really struggling. When it's good, it's great, but there's just so much senseless filler which isn't even especially entertaining most the time. I love slice of life shit when it's fun and entertaining, but this isn't excelling at it that for sure. I'm really doubting this show is going to get higher than a 6 at this point, especially with its frustrating legitimization of abuse as a solution to motivate people.

such a damn shame because the great moments in this show are truly mesmerizing.

Too...much...emotion....i can't handle it...

Right in the time when Tsubaki's cried i'm broke tears...

;___; ....poor Tsubaki...she's the one who cherish Kousei as childhood friend...Who's the one who make Kousei meet Kaori? Who's the one who make Kousei recalling his past to became great pianist...she's just want Kousei to be happy...

I dunno anymore...Is it Tsubaki's own fault to make Kousei step on further than her? Make him more far even though they're so close as childhood friend? Make him fall in love with other woman than her?

I just think...If...if Kaori's die...i hope Kousei end up with Tsubaki! Tsubaki...you're too late to realize your own feeling...and i hope Kousei know about Tsubaki's feeling already! Man, otoko is so baka!! QAQ

First half of the episode was hard to watch, switching back and forth between serious and comedy is misleading, ruined the tsubaki moment for me because the whole episode was trying to tell me not to take it seriously, pick a genre and stick with it im not going to laugh at this fail attempt at humor. Kousei needs to speak his mind with kaori, i feel like we havent gotten a real back and forth between them yet which probably puts her on the chopping block.

tsubaki is actually pretty greedy with kousei, like a child throwing a tantrum if their toy gets taken away but when they have it they dont play with it. she didnt show him any affection until he has his eyes on another girl and is talking about leaving.

Ah, gotta love these superb transitions towards the ending song.

A well-welcomed episode overall giving Tsubaki some much-needed attention because truth be told, she didn't bring too much to the show so far.

Heart breaking episode again,
Kaori put a act in front of her friends like everything ok when its not,
Kousei afraid that the same thing will happend to him all over again,
Tsubaki realize her true feelings..........
and they still manage to bring some funny moments into the mix -
5/5 masterpiece .

Great episode! I want Tsubaki and Kousei to end up together though. I feel for you Tsubaki.

When Kousei started humming Clair de Lune and then Tsubaki joined in, it was really cute. It made me smile because it was special little moment between them.

I'm really scared for Kaori. She is such a strong girl, especially how she put on that smile around her friends to make seem like everything is fine, but Kousei can see right through it. She is a character I've come to love and her health is deteriorating. I don't want her to die but it may be inevitable.

Holy wow, this anime went in heavy with the romance. Pretty good episode, overall. Don't know why so many anime girls have to be in denial when their feelings become obvious, but i guess if it fills the pages... . I'm glad Kousei dropped that bomb, though he didn't really know what's going on with her.

If i have to be honest, i'd actually applaud A-1 if they don't kill off Kaori, since they're pretty much shoving her immanent death in our faces now. The only pairing i ship is WatarixKashiwagi (Tsubaki's friend) for some reason.

While the episode was undeniably good, i still dislike the comedy, which hasn't improved one bit since the last 14 episodes. I'm also hoping A-1 stops with the death flags (seriously, Kaori appearing as Kousei's mom is too much).

4/5

Wonder who the little girl lying on Kousei is...

A heart-warming and heart-breaking episode, though I've never found Tsubaki to be that compelling of a character. I feel pretty bad for Saitou, but then again, he probably had an inkling of what's going on already.

Well, if Kaori dies in the end, at least we'll be prepared for it. I mean the death flags are just flying everywhere.

This isn't in A-1's control, really. Given that the adaptation has followed the manga almost exactly up to this point, whatever happens to Kaori in the manga will probably be mirrored in this adaptation as well.

Seriously, Japan isn't Hollywood. In animation 9 times out of 10, the publishing company is in charge of production. If anything the fault is that the animating company adheres too closely to the publish work and not the reverse.

What a heartbreaking yet great episode. I feel really bad for Kousei having to face his fears again with Kaori being in the hospital.
I found Tsubaki's reaction (running and screaming) a bit overdramatic. However, the whole situation, with them walking on the beach and Tsubaki's flashbacks was really moving imo. Listening to Clair de Lune made things even more sad. I think she is a relatable character, at least to me. I would ship Kousei x Tsubaki, but it would not be as realistic..even though, I still think they would be great together.
On a side note, A-1 should really stop the comedic bits that spoil the dramatic scenes (I don't know if they exist in the manga too)

That was insanely beautiful.
I'm speechless.

This is the first time that this show has really, utterly dumbfounded me.
When they started singing Clair de Lune, I lost it. Had to go play it right after and had this super-bonding moment with my piano. <3
It made me thank the heavens that I'm a musician. T.T

I usually root for the underdogs, but to be honest, I'm too enchanted by Kaori to even ship KouseixTsubaki. Still, this scene was hands-down the most fucking gorgeous. I know that feeling: "Music is taking Kousei away from me." We all know that feeling. I'm experiencing that feeling right now with my boyfriend and his dreams. His dreams that rip him away from me.

Tsubaki's "Huh?" spliced with Kousei's words...you just know her heart is breaking. And everything is falling. And reality is shattering into millions of shards. I've felt that before, and I've never seen another scene in anime where that specific emotion has been crafted so poignantly.
Ahh, perhaps it's just because it's something I'm struggling with in my own life now, but I really enjoyed this. I can't wait for more.

At this moment I would hope to Emi for do romantic couple with Kousei since she has romantic feelings for him, and I was curious to know who the blonde girl in Kousei's lap of that appears in the preview ..

Baka-Tsubaki finally comes to terms with her own feelings. Took just 14 years or so, no biggie.

As for the preview. That's your new Best girl right there. Trust me, she beats even Emi in that category.

I know that same exact feeling, except its a situation where both our dreams are taking us in different directions and I don't think they'll ever cross paths.

I'm not going to lie, I thought this was the best episode of the series thus far for two reasons and had two very powerful scenes. The scene where Kousei is visiting Kaori in the hospital and he keeps inner monologuing about how he hopes Kaori isn't lying to him and that she will be okay, yet you know deep down inside from the tone of this series that he knows that things are not okay.

The other scene with Tsubaki was just as, if not, even more powerful. You essentially watch Tsubaki realize her feelings, but also realize at the same time that she is too late and Kousei's dreams are taking him away from her.

In a series with multiple powerful moments, I found this episode to be the most powerful. I truly believe in this anime because I feel it's the best anime I've watched in a very long time. I can only hope the last eight episodes are just as good as the first 14 because this series has been a magical ride thus far.
