I waited since the very first episode for Valkyria to appear b/c of how violent and terrifying the OP made her seem, and what do I get? A childish and sensitive girl who has way too much sympathy for other characters. Where was her scary personality from when she was first introduced? Plus why the crap do they wait until close to the last episode to explain how dangerous Neko and Karumi are and rush everything?! Totally disappointed with this series, but what can you expect from the creators of Elfen Lied? I don't expect much from the finale either.

AppleJinx said:
Forced drama is forced. Did they really think this lightning fast pacing is gonna make me care about the characters? This show is just pathetic and manipulative when it comes to delivering its emotions to the audience, way too edgy.

I agree. They introduce these new characters out of nowhere! How am I supposed to care about them or understand them when the show is almost over?

Conveniences out the ass. This episode was hilarious, I'm willing to bet the source material is no longer being adapted. It's pretty easy to tell once the Shonen aspects emerged. Lmfao at the girls death scene, I love how they forgot her right after. PUDDING OP!!! The kid being shot randomly was funny too.

Oh wow, more bullshit in the MC's favour. Why is anyone even co-operating with this selfish prick anyway? He favours the vaginas of like 4 girls he just met that have the potential to destroy the world by merely existing over literally everyone he knows, what the fuck. These nun good guys need to just kill him if he's going to keep, y'know, jeopardising the Earth's future because he wants his harem that bad.

I never even thought of that! I love plot conveniences sometimes! xD

Well, Kana's forecast only work if someone stays permanently dead without their knowing. Hatsuna clearly saw him die so maybe it was fate that led Hatsuna to heal him anyways, thus not activating Kana's abilities. That's my guess.

I don't dislike the show, but I've been losing interest in the plot after the time reset in the beginning when Murakami forgot he saw Kuraha's moles. That took the plot backwards, and the majority of what followed up until these last ones didn't seem to take it anywhere significant. If they were going to spend so much time moping over pills, they should have bumped this up a few episodes at least.

For this episode, the engagement in the tower lasted too long. I mean, it had not one, not two, but THREE instances that tried to twist a situation that would have otherwise ended with everybody dead. I cringed so hard when those organization people showed up so conveniently, but I was so glad when the big bad guy shot the kid. That was probably the most natural surprise the show has thrown at us so far.

These kind of anime work best when they don't tone down the shock factor (which is the only reason I sat through the detestable cast of Elfen Lied). However, even this show's shock factor has gotten predictable after the time reset. The plot is throwing so many different subplots around and I'm not even sure where the boundaries of the universe are anymore. For all I know, Kuroha has a 0.01% chance of becoming a god and resetting everything next episode.

I'll agree with some comments about the production value, which keeps the show mostly visually appealing in spite of the above (really Kuraha is so damn cute); however I'll disagree with those calling it "garbage" entirely. It's not unwatchable, but it's one of many fine examples of an incoherent plot and reliance on anime tropes that ends in wasted potential.

In reply to ZobaZeta,

What I hate about this adaptation is that the anime expects viewers to know wtf is going on. This is a terrible notion. Ex: Hatsuna using her regeneration magic on someone else. According to the anime, one would expect Hatsuna could only heal herself, not someone else. The anime also doesn't explain why she melts when she heals someone else.

If you want short, spoiler but not plot spoiler, info on this, read:

I also hate how they introduced the other hacker witch. It was literally 4 seconds of introduction of that new witch that we'll never see again. They didn't bother to explain a back story. Why would there be a witch in the first place that is blocking Kazumi from searching for the location? What group does she belong to? Does she work for Ichijiku? So many unanswered questions rather than satisfying answers.

Got that?

We've already seen the second hacker mentioned. It's also fairly obvious who's side she's on. So...?

This was a fairly bad episode. Something that should be over the span of 2 and maybe a little of a third. It sucks it keeps coming off as rushed. I enjoy it, everything is still very easy to figure out, but more depth would be nice.

Hopefully there'a more to the story in the final episode.

So that episode was fast as fuck. They are setting this up for a quick ending, at this point who knows if we'll even see a second season ever.

Hatsuna didn't die which is good. Apparantly Mako knows Kuroha and actually didn't want to hurt her at all, let alone kill her (despite the crazy look from the OPs). It would be fucking awesome to see her team up with Neko, but I have a feeling her love for the bad guy will outweigh her other feelings.

Speaking of which Ichijiku has turned out to be a pretty lame ass douchey villain. In the one scene in last weeks episode with Murakami's uncle having a flashback, Ichi is all like "oh all I want to know the secrets of the universe and I'll sacrifice everything to obtain it". Now it turns out he's just trying to like revive his dead daughter or some shit. Talk about a fail.

Well cant wait to see how they conclude this next week.

Taking one for your girl, bravo.

How does he control Valkyrie?

The nun shouldn't of explained it :P

Aw poor Hatsuna :( I had a feeling that's how they would save him, but I didn't think she would melt :/

Interesting reveals.

Cool Hatsuna's alive, but it makes sense since witches eventually lose their hung up state.

So, chapter 1-50 = episode 1-10, and chapter 50-100 = episode 11-13?
Did the anime team just realized that they wern't making a 26 episode adaptation after finishing up nearly the entire allotted episodes?

Seriously, it would've been more effective cutting out the entire arc about Nanami, and spent those 2 episodes worth going slower at this big crunch of a episode 12.

Not that it was a great anime to begin with, however that was an astonishingly creative way of saying fuck you to all viewers and make this whole anime total crap. At least it happend on an overly cliched and hilarious level.
Instead of wasting so much time in the middle of the season with all kinds of nonsense they could have done something important to the story instead of rushing now when it comes to a close. A classic.

Holy shit I don't think I've ever seen so many deus ex machina in ONE episode. Hatsuna dying just like that to save the wimp is so lol worthy

Hexenjagd is fucking useless. They said they wanted to kill the witches and they had 4 of them on gun point, what did they do? talk. They also had the dangerous Valkyria and sworn enemy Chisato on gun point, what did they do? talk. *SMH* Are these guys even serious in accomplishing their objective? doesn't seem so to me =p

The objective of the lab doesn't even make sense. So they want to hatch the grane, then what??? if everyone dies there will be NO ONE left to create that so-called superior human race they wanted to achieve. Sounds like a half-baked plot that just make them evil for the sake of being evil.

Kazumi can hack the lab loooool.. they never bothered to do that before? they were so desperate to find the lab and now just like that they found it??

That little boy said there's no chance the grane would hatch this week and what happen next? it hatches.

This thing is so bad it's not even funny.

I'd like to see your guess. It'd probably be as good as wrong though. There was more depth to that new hacker witch's character and her relationship to Kazumi. Too bad the anime needs to cut stuff.

I don't think this will ever get mentioned in the anime, but that girl (Rena or w/e her name is) is Chisato's sister.

Also, there was a stronger reason why those nuns decided to work with Murakami to find Chisato's location. Not to spoil much, but let's just say it has to do something with

Wow this was bad.. really bad.

When you have a show that keeps killing its main characters just to bring them back to life again, you lose any emotional impact you could have had. This show keeps faking deaths and most of the time they just come back (or weren't even hurt in the first place). How many times now are we up to?

And oh man this plot. So all the sudden the worlds going to end because the big-boobed side (side) character is gonna turn into a monster and carry out the Human Instrumentality Project, which we know thanks to random anti-witch nuns that saved the day. Sure, ok then. We just kinda learned about this 2 minutes before it happened. But ok.
...such a fucking random mess of a plot.

There are so many things I want to say, but perhaps I'll have to articulate my thoughts better sometime later because I am currently at 40 hours of no sleep.

For now, I'll just say this show sucks some major ass. Zero feelings were had during this "emotional" episode besides frustration and a facepalm.

Between the manga readers complaining because this isn't the manga, and the guys complaining because its "garbage", I'm not exactly sure what you guys expected from this series...

Yeah, it's rushed and it's potential has been wasted in a lot of places, but the series has been a good, entertaining ride so far. Unless you're spending the length of each and every episode trying to compare it to the manga or some other anime that you chose as a favorite.

Face it, it's not the manga. It's an animation studio that paid the author to allow them to do an animated form of the manga. That includes leaving out details and events that they(the studio) feel either do not fit into their storyboards or play no part in the main plotline. If they were just animating the manga you'd have nothing but manga panels being shot across the screen, not literally but close enough. I can't think of one single anime based from a manga or LN that has completely 100% animated the exact source material. Things get changed, sometimes those things that get changed or left out are poor choices by the studio and would have worked better if left in or left alone. If you want a manga, you read a manga, if you want an anime you watch an anime... doesn't make much sense to watch an anime if you want a manga.

On that note, I'm concerned that there is still so much left to wrap up with only one episode remaining. It seems likely we'll get an anime only ending like Elfen Lied, but considering how much I loved EL it may not be so bad. One can hope.

I don't want a manga; I want an anime. I prefer anime to manga overall. Anime just has more impact than manga does, between the flow of events, voice acting, soundtrack, etc. That's why I prefer an anime to be as close to the manga as possible. I don't mind changes at all, but what I DO mind is completely removing really awesome events in the manga that would've made the anime that much better.

I've been thoroughly enjoying the series thus far despite the changes and some really great scenes in the manga being removed in episodes 10 and 11, but episode 12 cut too much. In my opinion, it's better to change the result of the events altogether to at least give it a sense of originality than to keep the manga's result of the events but butcher the process of them - and that's what happened with Kazumi's "hack session" during this episode.

I was really quite disappointed this episode, well this one and the one before it. They have RUSHED it to an over the top degree, and I just have to say in my defense, read the manga. I have been hoping this entire season that they would keep with the initial pacing and have all the characters show up, even if it means not getting to the Valkyrie plot in the first season. So instead three different characters either didn't show up, or only got a single image to their name. It is simply depressing.

Interesting change of pace, being a non-manga reader I'm not too sure what remains after the whole world is going to end jazz but if there is more content waiting then this definitely needs more episodes. Like more about the past and etc.

It went from, basic fan service + school life (almost like something else we have in spring season, COUGH MATRIX) to major shit flying everywhere, so much information - important at that.

I don't think Hatsuna died because the worm things came out to regenerate and that is how she regenerates (she regenerated murakami with worms) but who knows.
I'm filled with so many questions which I hope will get answered somehow.

So I'm usually on the anime side when it comes to the manga vs. anime debate, because anime adaptations, are just that: an adaptation. Manga does not translate linearly into an animation... but anyways I ended up reading up to this point in the manga, and boy does the anime cut out A LOT of stuff. It isn't even rushed at this point, it's completely cut, so many scenes and dialogue are cut out or even modified. Especially the part with Hatsuna this scene, or even Kazumi's hacking. Dunno how to feel about that..
