Jeanne is the total antithesis of Kallen Kozuki. While she acted brave and went full frontal, she ended up become liability and Nobu had to save her all the time. Kallen would definitely own her in battle

To be honest this anime proved to be way better than what I expected, after D-Frag this was the best anime of the winter season at least for me.

2014 Winter season was one of the worst season's I've ever watched and because of Mahou Sensou(aka one of the worst animes ever) and how bad other shows were I drastically changed my way to chose what to watch.

What an ending, each moment where I feared something cliche and cheesy would transpire it managed to take an unexpected turn into a satisfying conclusion. The time skip really took me off guard and I couldn't help but nearly tear up when I saw the painting in the museum. My jaw dropped when I saw reincarnated Jeanne and Nobunaga though.

I like how this played around with the concepts of the cards as well as the two kings of destiny. I'm really glad it didn't pull a fast one and reveal Nobunaga to be the savior king after all. Although in a way he ended up being both the savior and destroyer. When Hideyoshi opened Mitsuhide's eyes, at first I thought he was going to follow Nobunaga to the end again but I like the decision he made even more. He represented humanity's desire to cut ties with destiny and prophecy by choosing to shape their own future. And in that sense, fulfilled the role of savior king.

What I thought would just be some mediocre mecha version of Sengoku Basara filled with mindless robot battles and Nobunaga screaming "it was inevitable!" ended up surpassing all of my expectations. I have to admit that it took me months to finally sit down and push past episode 8, but I feel like the way this turned out more than redeemed the awkward first 1/3 of the show.

Many characters in the show fascinated me and the way Mitsuhide, Caesar, and Nobunaga developed were especially well done. I meant to mention this back in its episode discussion but I also found that, even though it was tragic for Mitsuhide, I found it interesting how Ichihime ended up falling for Caesar to her dying breath.

This is very minor and I doubt it'll make sense but I also like how the star itself developed. The way it transformed along with my doubts in Nobunaga as the savior king. In this episode, the starry sky and wasteland gave for a surreal feeling of the world coming to an end. But then the rising sun (in the land of the rising sun) at the end gave new hope to a world almost lost.

The early episodes had me convinced that this was going to be a 5/10 or awkward 6/10 at best, but now I'm thinking an 8/10, possibly 9/10 if it sinks in enough later.

The series was good until the finale brought it down. So much left unexplained or skipped over like Arthur...was a rushed end for him and the meeting with Nobunaga was just pointless. This was a 26 episode series and the end felt so rushed...that's a bad thing.

Final score is a 5/10.

Glad I decided to pick back up where I started. I really enjoyed this anime more than I thought I would. As someone who loves history, I really didn't care about the mix-and-match of historical figures, as that's what gave the series its charm. I don't know much about Japanese history, but I will be honest and say that I did kind of expect Mitsuhide to be the hero, but that's to be expected, since that's how it happened in Japanese history, correct? And I still got my feels whne Nobunaga and Jeanne d'Arc were reincarnated to the present. Overall, for a mecha series, it was unlike any other that I've seen. Glad I picked it up and was able to finish it as well.

I was beginning to lose faith in the anime a bit every episode, but the suspense and the story kept building and I was like I CAN'T STAAAHHPPP WATCCHHEEINNG.

Mitsuhide's character development was unstable. He was unstable with his emotions but I did not expect him to be the one to kill the Destroyer King Nobunaga. Well at least he proved significant.

And don't get me started on Jeanne. I was hoping for a decent heroine from her and when she saved her village from the fire I was thinking she turned a new leaf and would start being useful (but then her village ended up being totally annihilated so much for the effort). She was a weak fighter and her character is a bit weak as well.

Nobunaga's character turned out to be interesting. I thought he was also the Savior King then when it turned out he was actually the Destroyer King, he proved a very memorable character.

And Caesar, Mitsuhide and all those deaths...wow. I was impressed with how many deaths there were. Most animes I've seen try to keep most of their characters.

But the feels when Nobunaga and Jeanne shared their last moments. TBH their romance was pretty rushed. They had to cram their romantic moments into that last episode. But I'm satisfied.

God I couldn't stop thinking about the episode when it ended. I always made sure I was updated with the series for the past what six seven months? Thank god its over.

It would be cool for a season 2 in the real world with reincarnated Jeanne and Nobu. I wonder what they would do.

Over this anime is a 7/10. Entertaining but the character development was meh. The bonds between the characters weren't as strong as I wanted it to be.

Below average ending for a below average anime. (4/10)

I enjoyed Arthur getting squished by the dragon.

Hideyoshi was pimpin' with Mitsu's ninja-chicks at the end there.

This ending is insane! According to Japanese history, Hideyoshi succeded Nobunaga. After Nobunaga's death, most clans were against Mitsuhide. In conclusion and in MY opinion, Hideyoshi would've been the Savior-King.

What a twist, but its confusing. I don't know...I'm not satisfied in how it ended. I would like it if Nobu and Jeanne had a better, happy ending.

Too bad, we didn't see the other characters reincarnate selves.

Oh well. 6/10 for me. A good plot twist. I would give it a 7 but the ending left me unsatisfied. I don't like to elaborate more. I'm just glad that this series is finally completed in my watch list. Time to move on.

Mitsu is the one thing I really dislike about this anime. And he became the Savior King.. WTH.
The ending wasn't bad actually.. if only they make some reason for Mitsu to just die or give up.
The others was fine.. I knew Nobu would probably go down from the start.
But since they already gone so far.. they should've change the Mitsu vs Oda part as well. That's what I'd like anyway.
I agree that Saru should've taken the role as Savior King.. I see still popular with the ladies there. XD
The problem is all this contradicts the first prophecy that got things started actually.

But there wasn't much development at all for Jeanne (romance wise anyway) and they just became lovers at the end.
Aside from being beautiful.. she just whine and cause trouble throughout the whole anime.
I can see why she'd have haters.. but I don't hold anything against her.
She's just playing a pretty maiden in distress. She's not so bad.

Anyhow.. to be honest I enjoyed this anime quite a lot.
The story is interesting. The fights were cool. Characters were good. The deaths are great too in a way.
Just don't expect it to be the usual historical or mecha anime.

Personally did not really enjoy this series.

Overall, I would give it a 5/10 personally. It was okay, but the characters were the main thing I think that was wrong with this. They did not really have any personality and anytime something bad happened to one I did not really care? Since I did not care for the characters.

Oh well it was okay. I still wish I did not waste my time watching it.

I did expect a twist in the end of the series. Because of how much I watch anime I have a vague knowledge that in Japanese history, Mitsuhide did kill Nobunaga. The thing is, I still didn't like the twist they made, like how Mitsuhide suddenly became the savior-king. Like other people here, I liked the series but hate the way they ended it. Like other people here again, NobuxJeanne totally sucks.

I am kinda disappointed with this episode, it is a decent ending for the series, but they could've done better. However, I really like the last part where Nobu and Jeanne are reincarnated into the modern era, and history is passed on with DaVinci's painting and such, that gave me a good feel.

I am gonna miss the series. Wouldn't mind a sequel (probably not) with the casts in a modern world.

To be honest, I was disappointed with the story. It was not very clear in what kind of direction the story was progressing. It was just not strongly progressing in one way but very small in multiple ways, combined with a plot twist at the end. The character development was also not too well in my opinion. Nobunaga who does not know who he is himself, instead he just "follows his own path". Jeanne who cannot really develop feelings for Nobunaga but suddenly in the end they are "together", and lastly Mitsu who is just totally random and actually does not know his true purpose in his life, became the saviour was a bit too much. All in all this anime is unclear/indecisive in my opinion.

6/10.

I couldn't even properly watch this series... because it kept disappointing me and I wanted to like it so badly. To be perfectly honest, I've seen about half of it with scattered episodes and read synopsis for the rest of them in-between. [which is why it isn't on my list, seems unfair to rate a show without seeing the whole thing] It had such potential too... Ugh! I mean the guy who created this also did Escaflowne AND allllll of the Macross anime, all of it. The more I think about it, the more frustrated I feel. What is it about most anime recently that just doesn't seem to hit it off with me? The pacing and the character development just felt... wrong. :/ [sigh]

[if this feels out of place, I apologize, but I need to rant somewhere.]

Well, it was kinda obvious that Nobu would die by the hands of Mitsu, thought about it in the fisrt episode. I mean, they have their names for a reason.

And Nobunaga is still the Savior-King to me.

In the first few episodes, I didn't know what to expect of the anime so I procrastinated watching it for quite a while. Some days ago, I continued where I left off and I'm glad I did so. It was a solid anime and I must commend the writer(s) for doing some bold stuff throughout the series which most wouldn't. Despite that, I found the very ending to be pretty weak.
Overall, it was worth a watch.

I think the final episode was an excellent finish to a great anime!

Nobunaga resumed his role of the Destroyer-King, and used his power of destruction to consume destruction only, a great revelation. Mitsuhide was the true Savior-King, and vows to Nobunaga, to bring world peace.

The best part of this episode was when I saw it transition to the modern world. Basically, the whole anime was history itself, retold combining Western History with Eastern History, and a bunch of spiritual powers and mechas. I loved that! And know the anime ends with Nobunaga and Jeanne meeting each other in their next lives, like the proclaimed right before they died. They really should make an OVA showing their life in the modern world or something! I just got to see that romance.

yeah i agree with you man let the romance start again

Nope, this stuff was awful. I only finished it because I don't drop series.

So they turn to pixie dust and float away... because the real goal of the series was to destroy the sacred treasures.. but wait! Blah Blah was actually the TRUE savior king... and don't worry, everyone dies but they are reincarnated together in the future...(Rip Off). Well, I'ma gonna try to wash my brain out of this series with about 20 episodes of Gintama.

What a freaking trainwreck, I put up with this shit to see gay Mitsu die and can't even get to see that. I don't give a crap about the symbolism Mitsu was an asshole and terrible cringefest to watch. This anime had a great setting, great animation, cool ass underused dino thingies, awesome mechs and the worst characters and story imaginable. I also can't stand it when a relatively short anime series trades in great opening and ending themes for lesser ones halfway through. Ugh just terrible.

Like the overall series the ending was pretty disappointing. It was okay and all but it just felt so uninteresting and generic that I could fit in the whole setting at all. The overly forced atmosphere of combining new and old was just so unfitting for me that I really disliked it.

There were really good part and really intense fights but other than that it was pretty meh and I actually quite disliked this show, but well at least I've reached the end and with this I can finally move on to the next series!

the ending was really nice for me, I simply think it's in more a deeper meaning like "nobu remained as a fool that do whatever it is that he wants" and the simplest explanation why nobu decided for that ending himself is because "I love war" which means he has no place for the new world. as for jeanne, she shows how much he loved nobu and stayed by his side even though nobu turned out to be the destroyer king.

The ending for me is not focused on action it's more focused on the plot twist and romance part. 9/10 ending for me really bittersweet but if you understand nobu it will be on the sweet side :)
