Anyways, damn this anime was bad, not even the "gore"-parts can be classified as gore, it just looked like she chewed on some big bubble gums ... In fact, this series should have been an OVA with longer episodes, instead of a TV series with 4-minute episodes. That way, elements wouldn't have been implemented so haphazardly. But as it stands, Pupa is the one of the worst anime of 2014. |

| The final episode is strangely appropriate; this colossal mess of a series ends with a whimper. The entire series is so disjointed that it felt like they could have thrown anything in at this point. Competent storytellers might have tried to close some of the gaping plot holes, but the people who threw this together are either incompetent or simply don't care. The four-minute episode format was a terrible idea; it works for gag comedies, but not for something like this. It doesn't allow for much of a continuous narrative or character development, and this series even manages to waste a fair amount of the limited time that it does have - the entirety of the final episode is a waste of time, except that it helps to drive home the sensation of utter failure that this series exudes. To be fair, the entire premise behind the series is so problematic that it would have been difficult to make it work. Perhaps the simplest approach to an idea like this would have been to play it for laughs and to make it intentionally bad. To make a good story out of this concept would be a delicate balancing act, but I believe it could be done. The creators of this anime were clearly trying for this, but they failed spectacularly. The disjointed plot, the short episode length, and the poorly developed characters all conspire to make a muddled mess that ends up being unintentionally funny. How could a viewer laugh at all the terrible things that happened to these characters? If they qualified as real characters, and if the situations in which they found themselves were developed in such a way as to feel real (despite the absurdity of the situation), it would be possible to empathize with them, and therefore impossible for any decent person to laugh at them. However, these "characters" are little more than clumsy constructs stumbling through ridiculous situations; any illusion of reality is ruined by the botched storytelling, so empathy is destroyed. It is easy to laugh at a clumsy construct, especially one so poorly executed. The one bright spot I can find in this series is the art, which is at least interesting at times and, if combined with good storytelling, could have contributed a lot to the creepy and disturbing atmosphere that the series failed to create. As it is, the reasonably good quality of the art simply serves to make the overall failure of the series seem even more glaring, so since it doesn't mar the overall sense of failure, it doesn't prevent the series from earning a score of 1 from me. This series is truly a masterpiece of failure, and I predict that it will be remembered for a long time. Pupa is destined to become a cult classic. |

| So they ended it with filler? Laaame. Okay, so my thoughts on this show: Honestly, I didn't think this was that bad. Don't get me wrong, it's still a piece of shit and bottom-of-the-barrel for sure, but it was more boring and unmemorable than anything else. I guess the reason that I didn't hate this that much despite it being of objectively terrible quality is either because I wasted barely more than an hour watching it, or because I expected worse. If the episodes had been full-length while still having the same problems (poor pacing, incest, nonsensical story), I probably would have hated this a lot more. As it is right now, this is really shitty, but forgettably shitty. Rating for this episode: 1/5 Rating for the overall show: 1/10 Could have been better. |

While the last episode is quite unfitting it just is a cute ending... All in all a short but quite interesting anime if you ask me. Too underrated if you'd ask me? |

| Hmm it was a weird last episode. Didn't seem to fit. I gotta read the manga. I honestly liked it. I loved the concept of the story a lot. It wasnt made very well but i know its because it was short so iwont take points off for that. I'll give it a 7/10. It's weird people are saying this is super bad. I thought it was pretty good lol |

| So it was never explained why the boy had a weird, cliche scar over his eye or what happened with the weird pregnant scientist. This episode was kind of fun and light but also kind of dark, due to the costumed clerks making fun of the main characters for losing. It almost could have been an episode in the middle of a more normal story. This makes me think that the whole thing was basically just a sick joke, just black comedy. I guess that's fine. Whatever. |

This would have been a filler bit in a full-length episode. It's so wack, I love it. This episode singlehandedly raised this anime's score for me from a 4 to a 5 (out of 10). I get why people are mad, but I fucking loved it. |
