I was going to create this topic but

look at that it existed 2 years ago!

No I don't use anime to escape and I just watch it for entertainment and don't think it is less flawless than our world.

Nah, i dont think sharing anime ratings in signature is cool thing.

Here, stare at this pointless signature instead.

Kind of. I mean life is good and all and I have no problems but its kind o dull. So anime is sort of an escape into more excitement.

Kind of.

I find settings/plots in anime to be surreal and cool.

Sometimes.

When I feel that nothing is working for me, I just watch anime and then sleep hoping the anime I watched transitioned into my dreams as well...

Sure, in the same way I enjoy watching movies at the theater or reading a thick chapter book for a few hours without stop. Getting sucked into an Anime series for awhile is very much enjoyable and can often alleviate any stress you might have bottled up from school, work or whatever ails you from the day, especially if a few laughs are mixed in there and it happens to be a favorite of yours.

Maybe on a very small subconscious level, but otherwise no. Though anime can be very relaxing.

This. Tbh, I personally would feel like a loser if I counted on anime to help me escape from reality. My life isn't that boring.

But I won't judge anyone else, because I use sort of use music to escape instead. Anime music.

It's hard to not like lolis, their cuteness pander to the same emotions that naturally makes us fathers.

But it's hard to get off to anything that doesn't have any adult women characteristics like large tits, ass, and thighs.

Rhetorical question.

Do butterflies enjoy Incest with their third cousins?

I mean this question is just about as straight-forward as that.

Anyway, I don't use it to "escape the world" However, I do enjoy using it as a method to help me with my writing. When I write, I typically inverse myself in the world that I'm creating, so I guess you could say anime indirectly helps me "escape the world"
It's natural for a person to deny he's a failure as a human being. That's why he searches for somebody who is more miserable than himself. That's why so much animosity exists on the internet. Those who aren't able to find a more miserable person, turn to the internet and call other people losers, even though they've never met. Just to make themselves feel superior. isn't that pathetic? There's a sense of security that comes from speaking badly of someone else. But that isn't true salvation. — Tatsuhiro Satou

I don't watch anime to escape reality. I watch it to expose myself to new ideas, to confront art and analyze human thought. Doesn't sound like escapism to me.

There are many of them in japan, hikikiomori or otaku.

and i don't think it's a bad thing. well i can't blame them for rejecting reality for various reasons. i can only blame reality, or more like, spesifically society for making them rejecting reality.

No one necessarily needs to be a hiki or an outsider to want to leave reality sometimes.

Life is quite tough ain't it

I guess it depends on what one may come to understand and accept as "reality".

I personally find anime to be the most truthful and beautiful art form; image and sound comes together to form the most extravagant and complete form of poetry that mankind has ever achieved.
:)

If one does separate reality and fantasy, anime may be one of the most enjoyable forms to indulge and find escapism...

I guess ?

Yes I do watch it to escape from reality, primarily when things are bleak and dark in my life and all I want to do is just hide away from everyone and everything. But I'm slowly progressing out if it and sort out my reality so it won't be so bad.

Absolutely.

For me, anime offers unique experience. After all, there are some things we can never become in real world and for those who have imagination that is strong enough to put them in place of a character they can relate with most. Thankfully, i'm blessed with this, maybe to that extend that i would call it a curse. I enjoy long anime especially due to this very reason. Anime reminds me how most people in real life don't need that much to be good and kind but at the same time, how far they are from actually being it.
