First screening will be 25th Feb 2017 and it will be in 7 parts (movies) though the info is rather vague about that right now about how they will release them.

this and 2199 are remakes of the original 1974 series and its sequels (2199 being s1 2202 being s2 as far as im aware)

Sorta..... Kinda... but not really at the same time.... From what I understand, they DID change a number of things, even if the series follow the same general patern and plot. The biggest change (IMO) is with the characters, with new characters in the new series, and with changes to backstory and general behavior of many.

So, in summary, since 2202 is a direct sequel, I don't think the jump to it from the ORIGINAL Yamato series would be smooth or even make sense.

Yeah they did change things, a lot, even one of the character's gender. Besides, the old ver. consists with season 1 and the upcoming season 2 of this remake.

Basically, it's like you are watching Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemists: Brotherhood. Same same but different.

10 episodes are already available subtitled by Central Anime via torrent. The next 4 are due out on Bluray/DVD out on Feb 23, 2018.

There is no release date for a US release date, if that was what you are looking for. As it stands, it took years for the first incomplete release of 2199. Then, just last year, they start a re-release online of 2199. So if you wait for a dub or sub from the US you are in for years of delay.

Not sure if you're asking when the series will be complete or what. 11-14 will be done as quickly as I can get them done after their release. This is a 26 episode series. The episodes are coming out at about 4 episodes every 3 months. So Feb 23 for 11-14, May or June for 15-18, August-Sept for 19-22, December or so for 23-26. Does that help?
