I'm certainly not a fan, and have never understood the appeal. Zombieland deals with clowns as they should be handled.

Yes. I am. They certainly have some weird aura around them which creeps the hell out of me.

When I was very young I used to like clowns and even had a nice, smiling, little stuffed clown on my shelf.

Then my older cousin took me to see Poltergeist when it was originally released. Needless to say, Mr. Chuckles was in the county landfill by the end of the week.

When I was little, I was perfectly fine with clowns. I didn't get why people were afraid of them.

Now they terrify me.

Never got why they were considered scary. I don't understand why they're hated either.

That movie was disturbing to me back in the early 1990s. It was good up until he revealed his true form.-_- Then I got older and found out he played the part:

Now I laugh anytime I see it.

You beat me to it.

IT's clown was the only one that scared me, the rest I'm just indifferent about.

Haha. this. I've never understood what people find so scary in clowns... I guess they can be a tad creepy, but, that's part of the appeal, right? ...Right? >.>

While spiders, are indeed horrifyingly repulsive and terrifying creatures.

Clowns are supposed to be funny, if they can't fulfil that, then they fail as clowns.
The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao. The name that can be named is not the eternal name. The nameless is the beginning of heaven and Earth. The named is the mother of the ten thousand things.
I do not recall, Jesus ever saying "build churches, temples, and kill those who doesn't follow christianity..." nor he said "christianity is religion".

I never understood why some tought they were funny, but I also never understood why some people are horribly afraid of them.

They are kind of irrelevant creatures.

I wish people didn't find it scary, or we wouldn't have those darned juggalos.

I mean, it totally depends on the representation. Yeah the image of a disguntled proletariat older man who just does it to make a living and is on the verge of killing with an old rusty chainsaw from his run down trailer park in the middle of the desert like is a common "shock" image, and manages to of course be scary. Not to mention often kinda gross to my tastes(I get an overly hairy image in my mind, of some portly guy like Ron Jeremy except with more crusty violence). Not very sexy.

But I do like find fascination and creepy or haunting beauty in harlequins and various clowns. Female clowns are particularly cute.

Isn't she just adorable?

And Harley Quinn is definitely scary, but in the good way.

Gotta love that smile.

Moving away from gender slightly...

One of the best things that ever happened to Sega.

Not very scary, either.

When I was 4 years old living in Moscow, I went to the local circus regularly, and they had lots of clowns. They were all cool, funny, and normal. Horror films aside, why the fuck would anyone be scared of them?

The only scary part of the local circus were the small monkeys, especially since one ran up to my shoulder. Of course, nowadays, I would consider that the highlight of the trip.

What about a penis with a clown face, surely that's scarier.

If it wasn't for the fear of a girl pointing at my penis and laughing, that'd be awesome. I mean, that's pretty much a lose/lose situation, she'll either be terrified of my penis or amused by it. Neither of which are good.

The clown in Steven Kings IT scared me, I don't find traditional clowns scary, bit creepy and sad maybe. The Joker is the only clown I like, because he makes me laugh and Ronald because he makes me burgers.

I second that....
What is the difference between creepy and scary?
Is it a before and after effect of emotion ??
