Has anyone else drank the Kpop Demon Hunters Kool-Aid? They have stolen my soul with this one. The first time I heard this on the radio, I was kind of shocked. @DessiJ - Not sure if this would fall under Kpop for you, but pretty much the whole soundtrack is stuck in my head.

Maybe something like Golden Liar by Bradio?
Though I have a feeling you'd have listened to this already xD
I'm a mid-10s J-Rock sort of girl, Oral Cigarettes, Hello Sleepwalkers etc., I like something with quite a bit of energy to it normally!

Here's my recommendation for you - the second opening of Ousama Ranking!
It's really a masterclass of cinematic storytelling by Yamashita Shingo, a first-wave web-gen animator, also known for making openings for Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Not only is the music epic and emotional, but the visuals are top-notch. He masterfully incorporates story beats and major character moments without it seeming like spoilers, giving the opening a new experience after you finish watching the show.
For instance, my favourite part from this opening is at 1:05 - (spoliers ahead if you care)
The lyrics and visuals depict the world from the POV of Miranjo, the witch in the magic mirror at her lowest point, when she was about to jump off a cliff and end her life. At the very last moment, the giant king Bosse catches her, and the rest of the scene is Miranjo's POV travelling around with Bosse and him showing her the beauty of the world, until her "mask" (shell) breaks and she falls in love.
This was never shown in the anime and only eluded to as backstory, which I think is pretty neat.
As for the music I like, I quite enjoy j-pop like Lagtrain by inabakumori or Hai Yorokonde by Kocchi no Kento. I also like Joe Hisaishi, Eve, Yoasobi and MYTH&ROID, if that's of any help :p

@Dido16 If you like that particular Apothecary Diaries op, I feel like pretty much all of the new Urusei Yatsura songs should be up your alley, especially things like Love Trap Muchu (and just other MAISONdes songs in general).
Personally, I've mostly been listening to songs featured in Girl Meets Rock lately from bands like Hump Back, Ellegarden, Andymori, Ging Nang Boyz etc.

I'm really into Tems music. Here's her tiny desk concert.
@ChocChipss Omgg seeing someone talk about Tems here is...not something I ever expected. I love her music too, and also.... I'm from the same country as her Have you listened to her latest song from Dave's album though? It's immaculate. Here it is if you're interested. Her voice is so unique I'm honestly not sure what to recommend...but now that I think about it I guess...Kali Uchis? Maybe. I especially like this song by her. Anyways for a recommendation for myself...I'm actually pretty shy when it comes to anime music. A lot of the anime songs I like are from shows I already HAVE watched. I try to avoid listening to songs from other shows because for some reason...I'm lowkey afraid it will spoil elements of the show...which doesn't exactly make any sense but that's just me. Even with this I actually REALLY like J-pop and anime music (I'm listening to a playlist on YT as I'm typing this...currently playing Hyperventilation by RADWIMPS). If I come across an anime song, I won't skip, but I don't go out of my way to listen to one. I do have a dedicated anime OST playlist on Spotify, and would love for anybody here to check it out (⸝⸝๑ ̫ ๑⸝⸝⸝) I've got links to some of my favorite anime songs on my profile, but this year I think the song I've played the most is definitely No Hesitation from the JuJutsu Kaisen soundtrack. Whereas my favorite anime ED is kaika by Cadode. As for Japanese music in general, I like POiSON GiRL FRiEND, CASIOPEA, city pop music and anything similar to Asian Kung Fu Generation. Oh, and I love breakcore. Looking forward to a recommendation from here :)

You were spot on in your assumption but I hadn't heard that vocaloid song (it was great btw, thanks for recommending it!). I recently heard of Cephalo and I think they are great, but I've listened to the others for quite a while. Since we have the same taste of shoegaze (and the bands you sent over were some of my favorites), I think you would most likely like a couple of tracks I sent earlier in this thread. Link to post (you probably already have heard some of them :) ) But I have some others you might like too: This one is not as noisy as the others, but I really liked the collaboration album from Lemon's Chair and Tokyo Shoegazer, with Jubilee being the track that liked the most. There's just a whole lot of emotion being packed into the track (it requires a full listen through, as it builds up tension). I already recommended a track from 揺らぎ (Yuragi) in my earlier post, but they have a lot of great tracks. You already sent me some Kinoko Teikoku, so I'll just state that my favorite track from them has been Yurika ever since I found them years ago. Chaotic start, but mellows out into a sort of dark dreamy vibe that I really like. Not a shoegaze song, but sort of alternative rock? Advantage Lucy is also a band I really recommend to you. There's also a small band called Kraus that I've followed for years, with their song "Outside" being my favorite. Edit: Forgot to add the band burrrn. Blooming Bungei might also be a band you'd like to hear some tracks from, not as noisy as some of the ones you sent me (the closet would be Cephalo). If you like Shibuya-kei style of bands (most famous would be Serani Poji and their track Pipo Pipo), then you might like Cecil. This album seems to be a great mix of different styles of tracks, some of them being more similar to works from Serani Poji for example. Fennel might also be something to check out, great guitar tones and vocals. Pretty different from the earlier recommendations, but still a great track. Another indie track, one of which I keep going back to and listen on repeat. Really like how the instrumental fits nicely together with the vocal performance, the intro guitar melody is such a great addition to the track (having it be solo, leading in to the song). |

@mi-chandesu Thank you for sharing! I really like LINE by Sukima Switch as well, but haven't heard it in a while, so seeing it pop up here is such a joy. A song immediately came to mind when I saw the words 'connection', 'promise', 'nostalgic', and 'comforting' - Daisy by STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION. You might have heard it before, but if not, I have a feeling that you might like it too. :) Would like to take this opportunity to share one of my all-time favourites in anime songs - Fighter (ファイター) by BUMP OF CHICKEN. This song gives me an incredible amount of internal strength and has pulled me out of many dark moments in my life. It is an understatement that I have bawled my eyes out several times in the past listening to it, and even now, I still get a little glassy-eyed just from the first 5 seconds. Happy listening!

Here's the first season's opening song, Koeru by Alexandros Personally though, every time I am playing Uma Musume, this song always plays in my background. Woah many new ones for the playlist. The CECIL album had some beautiful instrumentals. The nao song reminded me a lot of Tuyu with that emotional style. I did listen to a bit of Tokyo Shoegazer & dots around 2017 :) We seem to know all the niche bands lol Have you listened before to he & Dog Hairdressers? https://youtu.be/tkGqCSk-cUo This one by Negoto has some nice buildup too. I rarely listen to them but came across this in a kid's anime last year xD |

i love hard hitting songs similar to the first gachiakuta opening or the rumbling from attack on titan. if anyone could recommend anything similar (or just really good metal/screamo type songs), that would be amazing!! i would prefer something connected to an anime (like an opening/ending/ost), but i'm always looking to listen to new music, especially something that's a bit weird and experimental :)

You were spot on in your assumption but I hadn't heard that vocaloid song (it was great btw, thanks for recommending it!). I recently heard of Cephalo and I think they are great, but I've listened to the others for quite a while.

@coffeedrops Hey! These bands were new to me, great tracks (adding them to my playlist :) ). Really liked Dog Hairdressers, that song kind of reminded me of something but I couldn't really tell what it was at first but finally found out what my brain was reminding me of, Double Lariat haha. It was the guitar melody that my brain matched with the one within Double Lariat lol (not really similar, but enough to get reminded of it for me). Negoto was great too, very chill at parts and very "open" in its soundstage. Quite progressive too, with how it changes tone and rhythm througout. Really, a nice listen. Here's some other tunes you might like (some mixed genres). Though, you might've already heard some of them before :) Kinoue64 makes shoegaze/noisepop songs using vocaloids (mainly Hatsune Miku it seems), which if you've ever heard the album Mikugazer, is actually a great combination. You might have heard of 相対性理論 (Soutaisei Riron) before, but if not, I really recommend them. Perhaps a bit, maybe more than 'a bit', chaotic and dark. If you ever watched Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia (Insomniacs After School), then you probably know of Homecomings. Another band that I would say has a similar vibe to them, but goes slightly into another direction. Would be 羊文学 (hitsujibungaku). Very different from the earlier ones, here's something breakcore-ish

@RODIOMG7 I haven't actually seen any seasons of JoJo's yet, but the openings sound really good. My recommendation for this event is "Yoru wo Koeru Ashioto" performed by Mitei no Hanashi , ending theme of Peach Boy Riverside

I really like LINE –Sukima Switch
The song feels like a soft connection between two souls. A quiet promise that “I’m still here,” even across distance.
Nostalgic, comforting, and beautifully calming 💛💛💛

@YayakoChii I'd like to recommend you Army of the night by Powerwolf. It's the same genre as Through the Fire and the Flames I personally like older music with synths, I like a lot of different genres though so if its anything punk or alt I'd also like it probably/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mO3IEDRsP2Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHrNTR05voQ

Hi @YayakoChii since you like instrumental piano, I thought you might enjoy this cover of "nothing else matters" by Metallica. Alternatively, I saw that you watched and enjoyed Steins;Gate and therefore, might consider revisiting a vocal version of an instrumental piano song from the OST. I give you "gate of Steiner" with vocals by Eri Sasaki I'm looking for Christmas or Halloween music. I love all the classics and some of the new stuff, but I'm always on the lookout for new Holday music :)
