A hidden dungeon and a mysterious grim reaper?! That surprises just keep on coming. The unmasking was strange too.

On another note, this episode makes me wonder what other secrets are within the guild itself. This is also one of those episodes where Jade's emotions got heated.

The guildmaster broke.
And finally we have bad guy who isn't obsessed with power or getting becoming a better adventurer or some other pathetic reason.
Instead we have a father overcome with grief, i wonder how the party will handle this.

Not really a surprise that it's the guild master who is the man in black but it is sad that he his so full of grief for his daughter that he just wants to bring her back no matter what.

Today, I came back home wanting to watch something chill and this series seemed like the perfect choice...
Oh how wrong I was...
I knew the anime had a lot of potential after watching the first few episodes and it seems like they've started capitalising on it.
Nothing more to say, it's good!

Btw, Matsuda Kenichirou is underrated.

Just one more week of Alina and Jade left 😭 fuck man I’m not ready for it to end.

I hope Glen can get a happy ending, but I feel like it’s inevitable that he dies now that the dark gods core has manifested. It’s pretty funny that he didn’t see himself being a father and now he’s willing to risk the lives of so many people to bring back the daughter he lost.. whatever happens, next week will be emotional

Jade getting angry about Glen preying on Alina’s past trauma was so sweet too. I love how protective of her he is! Next week’s finale is looking really good

I don't like where the story is going. I'd prefer if it's just a lightheart anime that poke fun at overtime culture of office work. Introducing drama doesn't make it more interesting to me, though I'll allow romance element because Jade is hot. Guild master is hot too even in his demonic form, but his hottest moment has to be in the past.

@Reecey91 The sad part was, no matter what, his ability wouldn't let him get to her still alive. It was all for nothing. He sold his soul for a handful of ashes.

I'm hating the cliffhangers in every single series I've been watching for the last few weeks...

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

this is bascially a filler episode.. I think we already knew it was the guild master it the man in black and why he did what he did

I think Jade will have to protect Alina, then she will defeat the final boss

Toasty.

There should have been more of a buildup to Guildmaster being the man in black. For example, more emphasis on Jade investigating the events of the guild heist. As is, it seems that Glenn goes from just some guy to prime suspect out of nowhere. Other than that, he's the best villain this series has ever seen, not that it was a high bar to clear.

Lynn plays a similar role to Shroud, both being dead characters that motivate their surviving loved ones. From what the researcher said in the last episode, I thought Glenn was going to try and revive his daughter as a dark god, which would have been even more tragic than just becoming the dark god himself.

Next up, finale. If this gets an sequel, would that mean the anime is working overtime?

Seriously, a cliffhanger??? 😭😭😭

P.S. I wouldn't have minded if they brought Lynn back from the past alongside the other people who were in his party, and then make him berserk afterwards, but unfortunately, there's no happy ending in this series...?

Jade just being a simp.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

So was the hooded figure Alina saw in the flashback the guildmaster's master we just met this same episode? Poor writing if so. But tbh this episode in general I found kinda boring. This show has definitely gotten more boring as it has gone on imo. Happy next week is the finale.

damn, that was disappointing... it really sucks sometimes figuring out a hidden plot-point early on, not liking the idea of it, then having your suspicions validated instead of proven wrong... i really liked that dude. he was a kinda-sorta butthead and bad boss... but still an OK guy. ah well, he'll get his comeuppance in the next episode and that will be the end of this show.

interestingly enough, beyond my expectations he was just a solo 'big bad' there was actually somebody else behind it all along. said mastermind won't be fully revealed till a Season2 pops up, if it ever does.

i'm going to be highly disgruntled at this show's finale. i can just feel it in my guts that the story is definitely going to end on a depressing note.

I like that the guildmaster has a believable motivation, his grief feels true enough. Brutal that even going wide-eyed into it knowing he'd become a monster, he didn't even succeed. Pretty dark for this show, though we've definitely developed more of a plot here in the back half.

I'm here for Alina and Jade cuteness and overtime stuff with Laila mostly, but if we do have to do plot stuff I'm glad they at least made a sympathetic villain out of it.

Sad to see this come to an end next week, hopefully we get a good finale!

To be honest, I was rooting for Glen to suceed in bringing his daughter back. She was a pure girl, and I can understand his desire to bring her back like that. I was so sad when he held her cremated body, only to see her dismantling in his arms again...
We're ending next week, and I'm already missing this anime...

I understand the guildmasters point of view 100% he saw his daughter die of course its gonna break him and make him take drastic measures to bring her back.

But like no offense you took the girl to fight a god dam dragon, no matter who was with you in the team you should understand the risks of taking her to fight something like a bloody dragon. I don't think he should tarnish her death and just let her rest in piece.

Alina was right though, Bringing back his daughter would make her sad because she'd just come back to a dead dad.

ya know, I really enjoyed this show for the most part. interesting premise, entertaining characters, and some social commentary mixed in. but I have to say that the plot has gotten soooo predictable. is it tragic and sad about what happened with the guild master? sure. but I feel that the overuse of foreshadowing in previous episodes lessened the impact of it all.
Also, Jade's a simp. but that's not to say that it's a bad thing, with how his dynamic with Alisa has been built. He's down bad for sure, but that's not his whole character, and I appreciate that.
looking forward to the conclusion.

At least they weren't separated when the sprung the trap. Being the foremost party thats expected to explore the dungeons as their primary mission was always gonna be dangerous. Despite how they met you can just how much the GM loved his daughter. There are some things in this world that cannot be brought back no matter how much we will it.

The irony of this is the same pride that kept him from ever telling his daughter how he felt is what makes him unable to accept her death and allow any number of casualties to fix his mistake

Episode kinda sucked ngl I do not like the twist with the guildmaster being so wracked with grief that he turns evil. Like dude wouldn't it be easier to try and implement new safety and training ideas into the guild versus bargaining with a demon to get cool powers to maybe get your daughter back. This was not set up well this was a slog of an episode to get through. The other ones I've enjoyed but this one felt so flat.

To get caught in the reaper's trap going into the underground dungeon, it shouldn't be a surprise to find Guildmaster Glen being the culprit in question after all the suspicion.

Glen making his intentions clear from the start, given how Heitz was able to let him in on the secret quest, it's all on the man who has no shred of humanity, as he leads the current Silver Sword to the true depictions of the party 2 generations ago, though the intention to turn back time using a dark god's core wasn't fruitful, until Alina proved herself to be his saviour to conduct his grand plan.

The death of his adoptive daughter Lynn and his partymates, Glen is prepared for the consequences as he absorb's Silha's core to fulfill his lifelong request, with Alina at the ready if anything goes wrong. Unceremoniously, Glen sacrificing his soul just to bring back his daughter, only circumvents the dark god to overcome his will.

Alina finding herself in the most cumbersome of scenarios, it's do-or-die dealing with Glen.

You can never bring back the dead. Alphonse and Edward learnt it the hard way and so did Glenn. The dark gods were just humans turned into emotionless killing machine by the dark cores.

Well, saw Glen being the baddie, the mastermind and his reason for doing so a couple of episode ago, LOL

And while the thought and gesture of trying to bring back your Daughter is admirable... but the Guildmaster still did it by sacrificing bunch of other people, including himself.

Was it worth it? In some other series, maybe, if this actually worked. But in this series... NOPE, everything gone to shit.

(as it looks like he's somehow actually being "blocked" from being able to go back in time far enough, as we seen a hooded person casting something in the past)

.

Tho... I wonder who told the Guildmaster about the Dark God core? hmm...

IE: who's the mastermind of the mastermind?

Was this master-mastermind also trying to awaken all the Dark Gods? but what for? especially since some of them are already defeated.

Jade was right, Glen was the reaper! Losing his daughter sent him down a scheme long in the making that couldn't be put into action until Alina appeared. Too bad his plan didn't work and he got taken over by the dark gods core.

Alina's broken through his time stop before, so who's to say she can't do the same with this powered up one!

So the man in black was Glen after all and he did what he did to try to resurrect his daughter just as many predicted. Even though what happened wasn't too surprising it sucked seeing that he could only go back in time to where she was already dead and in ashes, and he tried twice too. This goes to show that it's pretty much impossible to bring people back (at least in this anime).

Regarding the finale, I think the group survives and Alina continues to work overtime although maybe she'll be granted a break due to what just happened.
