| Last comedy anime that made me laugh out loud is from 2012: Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. Last comedy anime that made me laugh out loud nearly without pause is from 2004: School Rumble. I don't get why, but most comedy anime aren't very funny. I don't even have to pause to not miss anything while I try to stop laughing. |
| There are many anime tagged as comedy among my highest rated of the current decade, but not because they made me laugh. I don't expect to laugh when I watch comedy anime, for me they're like slice of life (unless the comedy is straight up annoying like toilet humor or excessive screaming). | Wave, Listen to Me! refreshing adult cast and slightly outta pocket. Akiba Maid and Human Bug Daigaku were insane rides Nagatoro-san, Aharen-san Uzaki-chan, Tomo-chan, My Senpai is annoying. I love the quirky couple dynamics. Uramichi Oniisan. Dark workplace comedy Muranase! Seton Gakuen. Antropomorphic school comedy. 100 Girlfriends. Huge harem, references and unhinged Migi to Dali. Bizarre comedy, balances creepiness and mystery as part of it. My New Boss Is Goofy. Cute bromance. Who am I kidding? It was gayy, lol. |

| Bocchi the Rock is probably my favorite comedy from the last few years. There is so much about the show that makes me laugh, but one of the best things about it are all those chaotic animation style changes the anime uses to illustrate Bocchi's internal stuggles. Also BOFURI. Just cute, overpowered, relatable fun.   For upcoming comedy, I'm mostly waiting for the second season of 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess (Himesama "Goumon" no Jikan desu). I loved the subversive comedy in the first season, but it always felt a bit off to me that I hope season 2 might fix some of the flaws with a slightly different approach. (( I also noticed that I might have a soft spot for Chinese comedy. Let Me Check the Walkthrough First had me rolling on the floor more than any anime thanks to all the banter between Yinou and Enya + the silly gaming references )) |

| Maybe I don't really like comedy anime... None of the examples mentioned so far sound very appealing, either. The best I could find in my list were: My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!: Bakarina is just really dumb in a really charming way Train to the End of the World: chaotic weirdness on a post-apocalyptic road-trip Bocchi the Rock!: great animation gags and character interactions; social anxiety gags are also good but a bit too much sometimes I really enjoyed Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 3, but this one had a lot of momentum from the previous 2 seasons, so I don't think it's really fair to call it "2020's comedy." |

| Isekai de Cheat Skill wo Te ni Shita Ore wa, Genjitsu Sekai wo mo Musou Suru: Level Up wa Jinsei wo Kaeta and Isekai Ojisan. Would be my favorite time Comedy shows the last five years. | Bocchi the Rock was probably my favorite comedy from 2020's so far. The new season of 100 Kanojos started off pretty strong last week. The second season of Machikado Mazoku was good too, I really enjoyed this series. I still have to watch the new Yuru Yuri spinoff movie that came out last year, but I'm guessing that will be good too. The first one was really fun. |

| @Serafos Yeah there was a 2nd season as well, but I don't think it ever got dubbed and was kind of disappointing. Comedy is so subjective and influenced by culture. It's very, very hard to get it to work across the board. Sometimes even within the same language. Something like Monty Python is mythical, but it never caught on as anything but niche here in the US, because so many people missed the UK cultural references. |
