What a terribly prude idea, the main issue with many isekai is their lack of originality, not their lewdness. |

You should blame the source if the source itself have fanservice and stuff than they will animate it, if the studio add it on their own than blame the studio or the fact that alot of people are thirsty and need those stuff. And there are some individual isekais which are worth giving a try as for example: Ascendence of a bookworm, Benriya saitou-san [it was cool, but it is made into many short episodic scenes, it has little fanservice tho], Spider isekai, Leadale, NGNL - even tho it has fanservice, Re Monster - yes it has harem but it is just a show in which there's no care about stuff like that "ding ding dong like king kong" [just listen to opening you'll know what I am quoting], Cautious Hero, Aristocrat appraisal skill isekai, Sword isekai, Campfire cooking isekai, Black summoner - with "peak" fight animations x). You just need to watch more isekais than listen to what it is said in social media or by anitubers. |

It has been done before, I mean the Digimon franchise is probably the most famous isekai franchise even outside of the anime community and it doesn't have any of those. Sure maybe there's Angewomon having some bondage elements to their design but it isn't really ever drawn much attention to from my recollection. |

Theres nothing inherently wrong with any of the traits you mentioned. a regular guy transported to a fantasy realm, becoming a hero and getting ALL the girls? A story like that could be a lot of fun, in theory at least. Problem is, most isekai protagonists never face any kind of adversity. They're the most powerful being in the universe and girls throw themselves at him for the flimsiest of reasons. They just get everything handed to them on a silver platter and never have to work hard or better themselves in any way. Such pandering is not interesting to watch and is actually quite repugnant especially when they go out of their way to make the protag a disgusting miserable excuse for a human being. This is the sort of person they think viewers will most identify with. Juuni Kokuki is the only isekai anime that is genuinely good. |

Just ditch modern isekai, and watch the pioneers, just like Rayearth or Escaflowne. El Hazard too as I've been told previously. PS: Fanservice by itself isn't really the problem of Isekai, is the half assed concept and ridiculous "twists" like reincarnated into a *insert any random object here* all of these shows are conceptually the same, with a different skin. And this is not exclusive to Isekai, normal Fantasy themed shows also suffer from this as well (with the exception of Frieren) Modern Isekai has been nothing short of creative bankruptcy, I legit don't know how it keeps being profitable for Japan to release such half assed shows, but here we are, kinda makes me miss the era where Harem Magic Battle School where a thing. |

@LSSJ_Gaming there are digimon with fanservice design, but a lot of time it fits the character (Angewomon being a rebellious angel and having revealing clothes is very not angel like, Lilithmon being the lust demon lord...) and most of the time it's done well |

well.. isekais are totaly fine without harem and can only get better without. i mean seriously: who needs the fucking 100000 isekai with an op protag who gets a harem of girls, but never doing anything with them? how boring is that? noone needs that in real life, and noone needs that in fantasy.. at least not in every second show released each season. for me solo leveling is basicaly an isekai... i mean he is still in the normal world but besides that it has ever aspect of an isekai besides harem shit. i for myself am happy for every isekai who tries something different, and does not go with the stupid harem idea... i really see no joy in watching 3 to 20 big breasted girls in love with the op protag... thats cool once in a while, but i really dont need that in every second show. |

@StewedBeefHaunch funny reply. why this harem shit at all? and the protag can be a cool dude, without being completly op, and he also can have cool partners. they can even be female, but why must every female be totaly useless and just there to look sexy and be in love with the protag? get a real girl dude... maybe you will not find the need to compensate in anime so much after that |

@Wrathberry84 who said an isekai have to be action to be good and if it's romance and harem to be bad. Pure delusion stick to battle shounen like demon slayer don't try teach "how to make Isekai" Japanese already know that pretty well. |

So is this one of those cases, Flex, where you have watched a few review about Isekai Anime on Youtube or TicTok and made up you mind that every single Isekai is following the same path ? Let's talk about being really pathetic, this is one of those cases where a guy that have zero experience, in reality is a newbie. Is talking high and might about something, he think he has knowledge about. But in the end he dosen't know a shit about it. I would recommend you to start to actually watch a bit of Isekai Anime then start complaining. As if you would, you would know that your statement is not that true, lol. Just because 2 isekai per season have a harem and a rather low budget, with mediicore fight, dosen't mean every Isekai has this problem. The thing is, post like this is just sad. And even if a Anime/Light Novel like Jobless have ecchi part, dosen't mean the story and character is lacking deepth. You have shows like: Now and Then, Here and There and would be one of the really dark Anime out there. Soul Land, shines in Animation and Fighting, something you really should try to watch. As that's what you're asking for. A tips, don't push everyone over the cliff, as for me, it just smells lack of experience and makes me cry that people like you really exist. |

The true irony with @rohan121's quote is that during the 80s and 90s, major isekai productions quite often had female protagonists and shoujoesque stories. Examples: Genmu Senki Leda (1985), Magic Knight Rayearth (1994), Tenkuu no Escaflowne (1996), and of course the crown jewel of the genre - Juuni Kokuki (2002). @KeepCalmAndMal - Ascendance of a Bookworm (2019) revitalized this variant, rather than inventing it from scratch. And while true fantasy and not isekai, Slayers (1995) was the gold standard of Sword and Sourcery anime for for a long time. The scantly clad waifu harem and teen-boy power fantasy are rather recent formula changes, I'd consider Zero no Tsukaima (2006) as their trope codifier. |

@Roqueiro sorry but thats some bs. is any of those harem isekais doing that great? i kinda dont see it. solo leveling for example is basicaly an isekai (it has all of the features of isekais: op protag, gamification, level ups, skills and so on). The only thing that is not there is the reincarnation into another world. but he at least basicaly got reincarnated in the "real" world. and its more popular than all those harem and fanservice isekai together. reincarnated as a slime has a little fanservice, mainly with shion, but has not really a harem or any other of those cheap isekai tropes. and its still doing 10000 times better than any of those trash isekais. i just dont see any piece of evidence that isekai without harem and cheap ecchi tropes cant do good. people on this forum think way too much of themselfs and their oppinion and you really should realise that you are the absolute minority of people who watch anime. i see that in every post here: "anim without fanservice wont work" "anime without some ecchi will flop" and so on. thats so much bullshit i cant even start. just fucking look at all the most popular shows. they are basicaly all shows with zero to very little fanservice. and even if you look in the isekai genre, im honest there are not a lot good isekai because they often are made cheaply without much love, but even there the top shows are: slime, some fanservice, but not a lot and no ecchi, not a real harem re: zero: little fanservice, not a real harem, not an stupid op protag moshuko tensei: yes, it has fanservice but no harem untill very late in the story, and not the typical one. and i would bet everything i have, the anime would be running good, even without any fanservice at all. and it actualy has a plot and character development. now lets talk about the best isekai series of them all: "im a spider so what?!". the anime is kinda lacking because especialy in animations, because the budget was small. but the light novels are awesome and pretty popular. and it has ZERO fanservice, ZERO harem. the point that isekais can only work with fanservice, harem and other stupid shit is so stupid, for real. all the popular shows in thsi world show us that the majority of people does not want and does not need cheap fanservice and ecchi tropes. but you guys try to convince yourself that the whole anime community is like you... ps: i forgot the "as an aristocrat i use my appraisal skill to rise in the world". pretty good rating for an isekai, and it has around zero fanservice, besides the one character with too big boobs (at least she is not running around with bouncing boobs all the time). it has no harem and it does not even have an op protag. and its still working. |

@Roqueiro the isekai would need interesting characters and a story to work of course. But that is harder than just giving a random dude godlike Powers and a bunch of girls with bouncing tits who are in love with him. So they stick with the shit we see each season now... |

@Wrathberry84 You are confusing what's marketable with what's harder to create. Why change the easy formula when it sells and makes money after all it's the Japanese teems who is the main audience not some westerners with better expectations. |

and even if you look in the isekai genre, im honest there are not a lot good isekai because they often are made cheaply without much love, but even there the top shows are:
slime, some fanservice, but not a lot and no ecchi, not a real harem
re: zero: little fanservice, not a real harem, not an stupid op protag
moshuko tensei: yes, it has fanservice but no harem untill very late in the story, and not the typical one. and i would bet everything i have, the anime would be running good, even without any fanservice at all. and it actualy has a plot and character development.
now lets talk about the best isekai series of them all: "im a spider so what?!". the anime is kinda lacking because especialy in animations, because the budget was small. but the light novels are awesome and pretty popular. and it has ZERO fanservice, ZERO harem.
the point that isekais can only work with fanservice, harem and other stupid shit is so stupid, for real. all the popular shows in thsi world show us that the majority of people does not want and does not need cheap fanservice and ecchi tropes.
but you guys try to convince yourself that the whole anime community is like you...
ps: i forgot the "as an aristocrat i use my appraisal skill to rise in the world". pretty good rating for an isekai, and it has around zero fanservice, besides the one character with too big boobs (at least she is not running around with bouncing boobs all the time). it has no harem and it does not even have an op protag.
and its still working.
@Wrathberry84 I really agree with everything you said, though I don't know about trash isekais "made without much love". Basically, the biggest problem alot of people would agree on is that the shows have low quality animation and low quality story (or very generic ones which in end could amount to the same thing). But I have come to note that even trash isekais have great voice acting, well-made OSTs(or at least good enough for the scenes in which they're used) and I've watched a fair share of trash isekais that have deliciously catchy Opening theme and Ending theme. |
