I'm burning through the original Blues Clues so I need more children's show suggestions. They haven't taken much interest in Dora the Explorer or Rugrats so I think full cartoons are out of the question. The kids are 3 and 2.

Thanks everyone! 😊

I've heard Bluey is good for a young kid's show, haven't seen any of it though. and for other young ages things I used to watch the Backyardigans, Wonder Pets, Zoboomafoo, Clifford, Bear in the Big Blue House, Between the Lions and Sesame Street. Bluey, backyardigans, wonderpets, and clifford are cartoons but the rest have live action bits to them.

It's not from my childhood because I'm 36 years old and the series is from 2012, but watching channels with my son I got hooked on Gravity Falls.
It's spectacular, all of it.

Is Sesame Street still going? I loved that as a kid - Elmo, Mr. Noodle, Mr. Noodle's Brother Mr. Noodle... haha classic.

I still can't believe Elmo's original puppeteer fucked a minor :/

Gravity Falls, iCarly, Johnny Test (yes, really), Phineas & Ferb, and Spongebob Squarepants are what I can come up with at the moment
Some of you never watched Bakugan Battle Brawlers on TeleToon in 2008 and it shows.

@jkkh I tried Bear in the Big Blue House and my son was interested but my daughter wasn't so much. I've tried Bluey before too but they don't seem interested in animated shows right now.

@vasipi4946 I've tried Rolie Polie Olie but they don't seem interested in animated shows yet. I'll try the others after they finish Blues Clues lol

@DollzchanAI those are a little advanced for my kids. They also don't like animation yet.

@Otakupervert I'll try Beast Wars when they're a little older. They really aren't interested in animation yet.

@juanlqr I love Gravity Falls but it's definitely too advanced for my kids

@SaiteiDaOrette My daughter really loves Elmo. My son isn't as interested in Sesame Street which is interesting because he liked Bear in the Big Blue House which my daughter didn't care for. Kids, right?

@tchitchouan thanks for the recommendations. I'll share them with my kids when they're older.

@Ryan77999 I'll have to try iCarly sometime soon since my kids aren't super interested in animation yet.

There was a live-action show about a Jack Russel terrier called Wishbone that i was fond of, along with Mr. Rogers, Reading Rainbow, and Between the Lions. Not sure what kind of mileage you’ll get from these.

I remember watching 4 stuff quite often, I wasn't a typical kid watching typical kid shows. My late father didn't know what to put on tv for me so one of the first ever movies I've seen was Private Ryan when I was around 3-4, later some stuff like Star Wars, Troy, Gladiator etc.:

W-11 - It is a paradocumentary about cops/detectives it was broadcasted at later hours of Wednsday evenings, so I had a deal with my mother that I could go later to sleep just to watch the episode of this show. I was watching it at around 2006-2009 something like that.

Czas Honoru - A tv show about WWII occupation, I remember watching couple of first seasons at 2008-2010 maybe 2011 as I don't remember when I stopped watching it.

Thibaud ou les Croisades - That's probably the first ever tv show I've seen as up to this day I have original VHS of all episodes [2 seasons] while first episode is black and white, this stuff is antique [or maybe more episodes were black and white I don't remember, I'll need to check these VHS when I'll be back at my home town]

Galactik Football - That's just my favorite non-anime stuff which I was watching at Jetix.

childhood shows... hmm, well aside from the ones mentioned in the OP... inspector gadget, berenstain bears, winnie the pooh, Clifford, thomas and friends and Franklin come to mind... I remember my younger sibling grew up on PB&J otter, little einsteins and baby looney tunes. I also remember my cousin's kid went crazy about super why a few years ago.

most of my favourite childhood shows were live action shows that were maybe more relevant/popular in the UK during the 90s, some were more well known though, few examples;

Some of these were like reruns or on home video others aren't from my childhood but others or I saw them later so dont be thinking I was born in the 1964 or 2014 or something lol Unlike most users here im actually taking note you said your kids are 2 and 3 so trying to remember earliest shows i can recall.

A lot of old live action PBS shows I found enjoyable when a kid like Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Lamb Chop's Play-Along, Reading Rainbow, Wishbone (warning Wishbone will make them want a jack russell terrier lol Though seeing your post above Id question if they would like Lamb Chop's if they didnt like Mr Rodger's because it also can be a bit slow but on other hand it has more humour to it so maybe they would).

I vaguely recall possibly enjoying Fraggle Rock while simultaneously having some weird uneasy feeling about it i cant figure out why lol

The Wiggles is a bit more recent pretty popular one among little kids.

While I don't know anyone who saw it as a kid I thought it was cool how Yo Gabba Gabba! has real musicians that aren't just shitty pop stars so you can actually discover music that way lol

Varies. I haven't rewatched some like a Blues Clues.

I did watch all of Freaky the New Zealand kids (as in school age) horror show that never got a DVD release so those episodes backed up was worth a watch. I watched all episodes on Youtube. I appreciate the odd horror/strange kids shows that exist out there.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIzitOBrKPOhJB4ksGnjwqc5rKxhW4Q2- I always remembered the show from the slide episode.

I mean I did like Scooby Doo as well. Got into it more around a few movies/the What's New era. Haven't seen Mystery Inc but need to.

Also Soup Opera the stop motion animation. I think it's safe. I saw it on youtube all episodes as well. No dialogue just food being transformed. It's safe for younger kids just seeing some animal or something made from fruit and veg and such. I love stop motion/claymation so.

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=soup+opera

So Wallace and Gromit then? Shaun the Sheep has a tv series and a few films. I enjoyed those films just as much as I would a kid years ago seeing the W&G shorts and the Wererabbit/Loaf and other ones.

I have seen some other Aardman animations and they vary. The adult ones as well I have more context for the dialogue then I did as a kid and many they were great to rewatch with the dialogue making sense now. That and the Heat Electric ads or Creature Comforts are fair kids/adults talking about going to places like the vets, garden, circus, sea, working (well animals in jobs but the voices are people it's not scripted in a typical sense is what I'm getting at), random topics and it's just enjoyable.

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=creature+comforts

Timmy Time I have not seen but is younger kids safe I'd say.

There is tons I remember but haven't seen in years and vaguely remember. Obvious many have mentioned others so going to stick to ones not mentioned.

I remember Rolie Polie especially the upside down episode that scene always sticks with me and is the only reason I remember the show,

I remember Gear Big Blue House, Sesame Street, Teletubbies (yellow one best), Play School. Maggie and the Furious Beast I remember some particular episode I forget which one.

I think I remember the Hairy Maclary books then I do the tv show.

Later years I remember certain like Art Attack, Tracy McBean (I remember another artstyle wise similar to it but forget what it's called the scene is blurry for me),

Grossology, Pinky and Perky, Cyber Chase, Erky Perky maybe I remember.

Carl 2 or Squared as they say it I remember.

Ruby Gloom I vaguely remember but didn't see much.

Kid vs Kat. Phineas and Ferb. I vaguely remember some other Disney Live action. I vaguely remember some cartoon network ones like I never saw Billy and Mandy but also thought it was interesting. I remember Dexter's Lab kind of. Never saw Foster and his imaginary friends.

I think I was more Nick Jr or more Disney (their notable 2000s ones I think, anything 2009+ no clue) for the most part at times. Besides well ABC network channels also 2009 and prior.

I just saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1USNeb8YAoA and very few I remember the names of, many I've never heard of.

Like Grandpa in my pocket I had heard of maybe glimpsed at some point.

The one with the animals at 0;20 I vaguely remember.

Oh Mortified (live action) ah I remember that being funny. Lazy Lucy too. Trapped (live action sort of game show type)

I remember Dora but didn't see it really.

Probably Bob the Builder (older not modern redesign), probably Bananas in Pajamas (older era not the modern redesign).

I'd have to take a look at old photos or even videos with my old toys in them and see what I remember of books/tv shows of the time.

Like I watch and am rewatching Doctor Who besides well modern shows. I am not a big rewatcher of things.

I remember games much better (and rebought a portion of those used to own, will uncover the rest eventually or the full release then just the demo on the demo disk) or live action films then I do this era of television from the past.

My favorite childhood TV series are the same as my favorite present-day TV series, except now they just form part of a larger list. It's not like I stopped loving and enjoying any of the shows I previously loved and enjoyed once I reached a certain age.

GI Joe, Thundercats, Transformers, Tale Spin, Ducktales, Smurfs, He-Man, MASK, Centurions, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Top favorites were probably Turtles, Tail Spin and GI Joe. If we count anime, favorites were easily a tie between Kimagure Orange Road and Bubblegum Crisis. I had a friend introduce me to anime when I was like 14; he gave me VHS tapes of Kimagure OVA, Dangaioh, MD Geist, Bubblegum Crisis, You're Under Arrest! and Project A-ko. I remember being dubious about the whole reading my cartoons thing... I was an avid reader already so it wasn't a problem reading, but back in the 80s the subs were yellow, grainy and tiny. But then Project A-ko started and within five minutes, she has her tits out. That's when I said you know what, I think I'm gonna like this "anime" thing :D

As an adult, I rewatched a lot of those older cartoons. All pretty cheesy, which I don't notice when I'm a teen, but God the worst were the Smurfs. I swear I don't remember them saying "smurf" so much. It drove me out of my smurfin mind and I had to shut the mother-smurfing thing off lol

I grew up without cable for several years, so a lot of my favorites were predictably PBS Kids shows like WordGirl, Arthur, Cyberchase, etc.

In reference to OP's kids, I loved Elmo and the rest of Sesame Street as much as Pikachu at their age.
