| Onto the main focus of the season: Mayu Kuroe. Although this is an anime about music, when it comes to OPs and EDs, this show's got some alright tracks, and this season ain't no different. The girl who played the euphonium was a transfer student from the powerhouse Seiran Girls' School—Mayu Kuroe. Hazuki confirms whether Mayu will join the Kitauji High School Concert Band, but Mayu seems unsure. Kumiko encourages Mayu, who is worried that her joining as a third-year student might disrupt the club's balance. As a result, Mayu decides to join the Kitauji High School Concert Band. And so, practice for the Sunrise Festival begins for the Kitauji High School Concert Band. Syncopation, huh? Oh, another musical term to discuss. Syncopation is like intentionally playing off-beat, so I'm curious about what will happen this episode to earn that title. They're always short on bass players and euphonium players aren't they? I doubt they'd sideline Kumiko just because Mayu also plays euphonium. Then you got once again, having experienced seniors means the juniors can catch on faster and start learning the performance pieces sooner. It's time to win the Sunrise Festival! |

| What the actual f is going on lol. Not that I mind ofc. Leak the entire thing while at it. KyoAni should have finished the entire season right? Don't like Mayu's character much. She's one of those type, kind of annoying. The bit with Suzume and Tsubame was funny. They are both nice girls. Unlike previous years where the leaders personalities/ideologies clashed this year the three leaders are close, specially Reina and Kumiko and they both came to the same conclusion. Thus confirming their music for the competition. It's all training from here on to achieve greater heights than ever and get that gold. Great little speech from Reina. Btw Reina's butt got wet, lolz. |

| What's up with this leak again for second episode. I really like the chemistry between trio eupho Kumiko-Mayu-Kaede bring. Once they figured out what piece the band will play on nationals, the rainy day cleared out, very nice visual storytelling there. |

| The new OP song is great, lot of energy and colorful scenes in it. Fits well with this season and animation still looks stellar. New transfer student makes an impression in class and seems to get along well with others. We got a lot of training moments already and we got to see the fundamental ways to use an euphonium. I also beleive Taki sensei trusts in Kumiko even if she wasn't entirely sure herself. Reina's feelings were spilling again. For Kumiko, she's definitely in pressure with the role she is in. Plus, aiming for National Gold...yeah, anyone would feel pressured. |

| Another awesome episode! Kumiko still settling into her role as club president, but I like that Reina is making sure she doesn’t feel alone and knows she has people willing to support her. Choosing the competition piece and putting everyone in their roles isn’t easy, but you can slowly see Kumiko getting the hang of it and by the end of the episode, we’ve got our competition piece. That Reina and Kumiko bench scene was so beautiful too, perfect visuals as the song intensifies. The first years continue to be great, so many new faces and exciting personalities really spice up the club. Seeing Hazuki train the first years was really cool too, nice nod to her development since she was in that same position a couple seasons ago. Also thought Kumiko diffusing the Suzume situation was brilliant! Kuroe seems like she’s going to be a great addition to the cast as well, especially since she fills in that Eupho spot and brings a ton of experience from Seira. Can’t wait to see how preparations go starting next episode! |

Choosing the competition piece and putting everyone in their roles isn’t easy, but you can slowly see Kumiko getting the hang of it and by the end of the episode, we’ve got our competition piece. That Reina and Kumiko bench scene was so beautiful too, perfect visuals as the song intensifies.
The first years continue to be great, so many new faces and exciting personalities really spice up the club. | Understandable that the pacing is faster this season, not to repeat that much previous stuff. Really like Reina getting lots of focus. Waiting for the drama of this season, already feels that something is not right. |

| Pretty good episode, which is the most positive I've been about this franchise since the last big concert performance probably in season 2 (which might have been the only good part of that season for me). I like that it is more like season 1 than 2 so far, focusing on characters growing to be more confident in their roles and having a clear focus towards nationals rather than affecting morale of not just the club but myself with incredibly petty, dragged out and contrived drama (although that can potentially change with a few episodes). There were some little things like Mayu being unsure to join the band (this could change) or Suzume having an argument about her sister not playing an instrument given she is a final year during the traditional march that the band does, but those were either decent or were resolved quickly like in the latter's case. Plus, Kumiko is the president now so it makes a bit more sense for her to be involved with some issues than how much she was magically a part of them by coincidence in the past. Good that this band has a clear focus and direction towards Nationals, and the steps taken this episode were figuring out the song that will guide the group to them. Felt very predictable what the song was going to be given the descriptions provided to the selection but it should end up being good to listen to in that eventual performance. |

| It must be so difficult to be club president. Suzume may not have understood her sister's intentions initially, but her heart was in the right place. Mayu is super interesting and certainly has an allure about her...auditions are not going to be easy on the members. All in all, great episode; I love what they're doing with Eupho...it's all so atmospheric and I can never get enough of it. |

| @Ryushindai I too felt that she had a bitchy vibe to her, that she was just trying to insinuate herself into the band's inner circle with the aim of taking from Kumiko the role of the main euphonium player. From other perspective there is actually a sense in it and we shouldn't make an antagonist out of her because of it. Most of these girls are highly competitive that is why they are good at playing their instruments and of course they are aiming at being the best not just in the competions but in the hierarchy of the band sections as well. The anime has the drama tag and it could be a good dramatic arc if in the end Kumiko had to accept that Mayu is a better musican than her and had to give up and yield to her playing a leading euphonium part in the competition. |

| Another great episode as always. I really did miss KyoAni, their good shows are just really dang good. My favorite scenes today were Reina confronting Tsukamoto and the bench scene where Reina quizzes Kumiko on what piece she and Tsukamoto selected. I think the way KyoAni has shown the growth of all three characters has been really nice to see, and I just absolutely love the voice acting. Tomoyo's role as Kumiko might be my favorite performance in all of anime. I just think she really captures the character well. Another thing that I thought was cool was the fact that they are all willing to admit the clarinets are their strongest section. While that group did win the club contest in the OVA, it's nice how that was something that actually matters in the world of Euphonium and that Reina and Kumiko are willing to focus on what's best for the entire ensemble rather than being selfish and focusing on a different section. Really excited for more. I really want to visit Uji the next time I go to Japan! |

| The responsability of guiding the group towards the First Place. Schwerzando and Hitotose no Uta are the chosen songs, the second by the trio Kousaka, Tsukamoto and Oumae. I feel like there will be a slight clash between the New President and Kuroe... Kitauji might be a very small place for two Euphoniums. Amazing Opening and Ending Themes. Colorful and vivid, with that special touch the series has.   |
