| This episode had a lot of little nice moments between pretty much all the characters. If only being remembered by changing someone's life were so simple. Some people take others for granted. |

| I'm glad we got a breather episode and saw more of the other test-takers outside of the arena Fern still seems like a pain to be around and I find her random grumpiness less endearing and more.. bizarre and unsettling. I understand that her character is meant to be somewhat high-strung as a result of Frieren's general sense of indifference towards time but it seems like Stark can never catch a break Anyway, the girlz all chilling and eating snacks was a fun slice-of-life moment and I hope we get to see more of Kanne and Lawine moving forward |
| Slow episodes where characters are further developed like this and in a very natural manner with their personalities on the table is among the reasons this anime is so compelling. Not only do we get a look into what everyone we know that has passed the first test has been up to but also some of their likes, thoughts, reflections and overall charm give us warmth before they confront each other. And the use of flashback just doesn't miss, imagine if other series like Naruto were able to pull off something on the same scale, the repercussion would be insane. |

Stark makes his return, only to face Fern and her pouting face, like a mother catching her son in action. And that day is where Frieren makes the chance to make Fern happy by bringing her to eat some good food. It's the same with Denken and Laufen, bringing Richter who was manning his shop to a good restaurant also. But on the side, Ubel trapping Land to question him on her objectives, he remains nonchalant, but steadfast on his beliefs. To the restaurant, it's Denken's and Frieren's group together, but separate on their own accord: to Frieren, it's part of her journey with Himmel and the Hero Party, and for Denken, a place where he frequented with his wife before. Oh well, Fern is happy, but Frieren used up all of her savings for this endeavor. Once again, Fern gets mad, but because Frieren didn't go shopping because she overslept like the usual, and snacks will appeal to her this time. Kanne and Lawine on their date, with the latter being dressed up by her family...they're still the same bickering friendship as ever. And both girls meet the group together, as well as Wirbel, who finds him suitable to be stolen for their small side quest of defeating a Fresser...damn, Stark can't catch a break lols. But even things like helping people, Himmel brings it from the depth of his heart, and teaches Frieren the same values. With the arrival of the 2nd test's notification with Sense being the proctor, the candidates don't feel like they can pass this one...but with Frieren around, will things change? The 2nd test rolls around with the pacifist Sense, what awaits the 18 candidates? |

Exam arc is fun but this anime's strongest point will always be its playing with passage of time. Like that multi-generational restaurant.

| I ADORED EVERYTHING FROM THIS EPISODE!!! (except Kanne and Lawine being so fkng homo, what a way to ruin 2 good characters). Laufen eating is really cute! And that random-ass old man "teaching" Stark was the most subtle, funniest thing I've ever seen lmao |

| I'm so glad we have a relaxing period to see the characters going about their business as they wait the 3-day grace period before the 2nd exam. With this, we get to see more of what they do during the day, I appreciate it when the story does this, it brings the characters to life better than just having them go through an endless cycle of action. Haha, Denken has a soft spot for Laufen, he's quite literally acting as her grandfather, spoiling her with food and snacks, even back during the first exam, the way he talks to her is almost like an old man telling a tale to his granddaughter. It's adorable. Denken's team coincidentally coming across Frieren's party and having dinner in the best restaurant in the city is another thing I like. Here's hoping that Denken and maybe the others, are not just one-time characters in this arc alone. Übel is so perfect... She has the looks, those irresistible eyes, the cleaving magic, and is also a skilled melee combatant. However, her ability to use other mages' spells takes the cake. All she had to do was empathize with them, she didn't even need to understand the interworking of the spell. This is pretty broken damn... We don't know if she could store more than one spell or if there are spells she could not use, but just being able to copy spells is already OP. Having a clone spell would 100% be useful for her style of combat, and so with that, she decided to stick close to Land... Man, I wish I had a cute murderer fully intending to copy my ability, following me around and pestering me in such a seductive way as Übel does.  |
