I know that visual novels and animes based on visual novels get a bad rep. So are there any visual novels that deserves an anime series.

But we need to change the plan of the Maou in the adaptation because in the VN because it was kinda shit.

I think an Eden* adaptation would be gold. Time to cry.

If we are talking about "proper" Vn adaptation, you can add Dies Irae, umineko, to that list too.

They need to change quite a few things anyway for the twist to work.

On topic, apart from those already mentioned, a Rose Guns Days VN adaptation would be interesting to see, since it's suited for anime format.

The Rance series, especially Sengoku Rance, definitely needs an anime. XD

Lewd stuff aside, the Rance series actually has an awesome worldbuilding.

An anime adaptation of Historie would be nice too.

The twist only comes in the "true" ending and assuming that one its choosen then i can see how Maou would be always faceless kinda like the humans in "Chiken and Cow" or that red haired lady in Super Power Puff Girls.
I don't see other issues but tbf i havent been replaying the VN in some time.

I forgot to add: Nekopara but with the +18 scenes from the uncensored versions.

We need to change the retarded ass copoutplot-twist in the true route.
If you've read this you know this is impossible.

OT: I really doubt anyone would approve a SubaHibi anime, but it'd still be nice to see. And a proper Grisaia no Kajitsu anime would be nice as well. I'd also love a Root Double anime.

Honestly aside from some very rare case like Fate Heaven's Feel, Stein's Gate, VN usually doesn't go well when adopted as an anime, especially the romance one.

Danganronpa Anime adaptation is a terrible disaster.

Maybe as an OVA series since those have more freedom to adapt the gruesome stuff.

Many VNs have multiple mutually exclusive storylines, and it would be difficult to either choose one to follow or twist the story around to incorporate multiple endings. I though of Katawa Shoujo but it probably wouldn't work well for that reason.

One that might work is Sakura Spirit, since it's pretty much a linear storyline. There's only one decision point, and even then as I recall it's just a question of which character to follow when you've got stuff happening in two different places at the same time, and it would be easy to cover both in an anime.

As others have said, visual novels make terrible material to adapt to anime. Its pretty common for visual novels to take 30+ hours to complete, which is twice the time that a 26 episode anime has to adapt it. And we all know that they will try and cram it into a 13 episode sprint too. (Looking at you Grisaia.) As a result anime adapts come across as being very shallow with both the plot and characters.

You are A-OK in my book! That anime/hentai would shoot to the top of the charts in no time.

On a random note I am still pissed they didn't release figurines of Azuki and Coconut in their bikinis.

Inochi no Spare

I feel like it would adapt very well into anime format, given it's a short kinetic visual novel with a sublimely tragic plot.

Hashihime of the Old Book Town can work if they do just the 1st route.
I really want to see a full adaptation of Jack Jeanne complete with all musicals including "I am Death," but it will likely be butchered as badly as Tokyo Ghoul.

Saya no Uta, but like a proper adaption, not just the sex scenes. The story is really good, i´ve played it a long time ago but still remember everything.

Also, idc what anyone says, Euphoria..... i know there´s already an adaption and i know some scenes are gross BUT they cut so much of the story, the game is way better and more interesting. i wish it would get a new adaption

Implying we are getting a proper anime adaptation and not dissapointments like Muvluv alternative and Yu-no, then Policenauts would interest me the most. then:

- Eve burst Error (original, not remake)
- Saya no Uta
- katawa shoujo (specially Emi and lily routes)
- Snatcher
- Muv luv (if they arent properly adapting Muvluv alternative, at least give us extra and Unlimited )
- Desire (Haitoku no Rasen)

It does, but I only said what I said because of the linearity already affording structure that would flaw lots of other VN adaptions. Key stuff, Yosuga no Sora, so on, comes to mind. In my mind, SubaHibi seems far more feasible to adapt than ScaJi's other work.

I would love to see White Album 2 get a continuation with closing chapter but they would probably skip ahead to the true ending and leave out most of what I like about it, still I wouldn't mind to see at least some of it animated.

I would love to see adaptations of some visual novels but the thing is it's much more difficult to adapt a visual novel story when compared to manga and light novels. Still If I had to choose, I would go with one of the Key's visual novels and Katawa Shoujo. Making*Lovers? Maybe, if adapted correctly it could be a good rom-com.

Visual novels is the superior medium of storytelling so an anime will be inferior, unless it's filled with tons of action, which is a different case.
Even if its inferior i guess it would still be something grand.

Clannad, Little Busters and Steins Gate are some of my favorite anime of all time and I eventually "played" each of them too. But aside from those, I don't mess much with VNs.

But anyway I absolutely love the structure and the vibe of VN based anime so I've pretty much watched all of them. Or, I tried to watch them at least. Most of them suck SO bad. its because they try to force so much content into just 12 episodes. But when you put a talented creator in charge who knows how to edit out the unnecessary content and give the show enough space to breathe you get stuff like Clannad and Steins Gate. So yeah I'll watch just about any VN based anime as long as its at least 24 episodes and not anything like the terrible Fate series.

Would you also watch an adaptation of a visual novel for girls? Hakuoki has 22 episodes and is mostly not a romance.

They also adapted the prequel game "Reimeiroku," but I don't know if it's any good since I have not watched it. I would like to play Reimeiroku if the game is ever translated.

I do not see YU-NO on your list either.

I'm willing to give Yu-No a shot. I was skeptical until I saw the episode count. Still, that score does not look promising.

As for the others, idk. I usually have great difficulty getting into anime aimed at a female demographic.

Haven't played much visual novels yet but I'm currently playing through the Harvest December VNs and I like them quite a bit.

The series is kind of split into different seasons of the years (As in there's Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, etc) and all have different months with different stories. Since all the VNs are relatively short (About 20-30 hours to play the whole series or 6-7 hours for a season) they could either have all the seasons of the year as separate anime seasons or condense them all into a 24 episode anime telling all the different months. It would be pretty cool to see gradual changes in the anime displaying winter to springtime as well as the atmosphere for all of the seasons and months.
