What was the best year for anime?
| Couldn't find a thread with a poll that isn't a million years old and deprecated so let's have a new one I guess. What year was the best for anime and what makes you think so? Excluded 2023 because it's not finished yet and recency bias. |

| No idea how to decide, so I just looked at my favourites list. Two shows were from 2018 while the rest all had different years, so I'll choose 2018. |
| 2006 was the best year for anime period |
| For me it's 2011, had some real bangers, second best probably 2008. |

| Objectively speaking it's some year in the future because all projections show increase in the value of the industry. Although Theo1899 believes that 1984 and 1995 are the best years because that's when most of his favorite stuff came out. |

There was a lot of good anime airing and there was still a lot to talk about besides Haruhi. I also didn't realise people complained about Haruhi in 2006 but rather 2009. Maybe my impression was wrong and they did while both seasons were airing or something. |

People in this community will complain about everything that is new or popular (me too) but yeah it was definitely worse during endless eight, probably even the worst time ever now that I think about it. I don't think it was really better overall back then, just different, or maybe I just got used to it. During Corona we got a lot of new people who complain about culture and tropes all the time but other than that I think it's pretty chill right now. |

| 1st - 1998 2nd - 2004 3rd - 2002 Personally 1998 was just incredible: Cowboy Bebop, Berserk, Rurouni Kenshin, Perfect Blue, Initial D, Trigun, His and Her Circumstances. Man what a loaded year. |

| Nothing. Every year has its great series. I like classic series in 70's - 90's, but also there are many series in 90's - 20's too. It is imposdible to choose only one year. |

| It's hard to single out any one year when my favorites, including most top favorites, are pretty much well scattered across the years. As a mini-grouping of a several years combined or a little more than half decade or so though, I definitely hold the early to mid-2000s (say, 2000 - 2007) to be the "best" constructed era and the one I'm most interested in revisiting the wealth of series from. If pressed to narrow it down further, I'd choose a tie between 2004 and 2006, as both have an equal amount of my favorite series in my Top 20, respectively - Koi Kaze, Elfen Lied, Aishiteruze Baby, Higurashi, Ergo Proxy, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Plus Gankutsuou, Tenpou Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi, Black Lagoon (for season one mainly), etc. |
| 2017 maybe, but it's really hard for me to tell but it's definitly not the top pick on the poll (2011) Oh damn, if I go by avarage rating it'd be 1976 which I watched one short movie from and rated 6/10, which is more than 1 point higher than my second highest year 2014 (4.97), should've gone with that smh. |

That's a tough question hmm... I think 2018, since there were abundance of good anime back then in that year like JoJo Golden Wind, Boarding School Juliet, Overlord season 3, Goblin Slayer etc. |

TBF I can't think of a single year I really enjoyed. I usually watch 15 or so anime per year but out of all of them I only end up really liking 3 or 4 anime max. For example, in 2022 I really only enjoyed 4-5 anime to date and have been lukeworm about everything else. In 99' it was Excel Saga, Bebop and HxH. |
