And if we delete it, they'll just migrate somewhere else and then God knows what will happen to the internet. | Although closing twitter is a seducing idea, this website is quite nice to share images (not that I use it myself outside of lurking), and the middle ground solution proposed by Nabe should work well: reduce the upper character limit to 3. There would be an exception to this rule for posts containing images so that they give some references. |
| He isn't majority share holder exactly. To be majority share holder and thus control a company you need over 50% of shares. So he only has potential for influence not full control and it would be foolish to think that Twitter rampager will make it a better community environment. Anyway problem with all the modern social media is centralization at hands of large corporations that do too many things creating a virtual monopoly and also is from the "likes" "dislikes" etc sort of format. In case of Twitter issue may be aside from that is how you can reply to Tweets and it gets posted on the poster's own page as if a comment is as significant as an original thought which encourages clout chasers to start shit to get followers. |

| 1. Above all else they need to start enforcing the rules equally. Currently as far as Twitter is concerned, you can use the platform to commit literal crimes like actively calling for the death and violent harassment of people as long as you're someone Twitter agrees with politically or you're of the right identity group. Meanwhile everybody else can get suspended/banned just for a joke or factually undeniable statement that simply goes against Twitter's political views; it's pretty disgusting and needs to change as at this point they're basically a public utility and it's a clear abuse of power. I don't care how relaxed or restrictive the rules are, just enforce them evenly. 2. They need a strongly enforced three strikes you're out policy (a strike can disappear after a year or something) against targeted harassment and immediately take action to remove this crap as soon as it's reported because the platform is toxic as fuck. It's not okay to send a brigade of people after someone to ruin their life (call their place of work/education/sponsors to get them fired, swat them, doxx them, etc) or to obsessively stalk them constantly tweeting crap at them and replying to all their tweets with nasty attacks. By far more than any other platform in the Twitter has contributed to the rise of cancel culture and people no longer treating the people they interact with online like they're even human. Currently most of Twitter's most active users are legitimately human garbage and actively making the world are far worse place. 3. They need to implement more ads and they need to improve "super following" focusing on bolstering how heavily the platform can be monetized, this will allow them to hire more staff to moderate the site and will allow them to help people use Twitter to help make a living (which is great for business because if Twitter can become a livelihood for people that's going to greatly increase the amount of content people put out / consume on the platform). They should also steal features from other social media platforms so that they can steal users. I mean I don't want that to happen, Twitter is garbage and I'd love to watch it burn to the ground, but I'm just speaking in terms of what they realistically need to do to improve the platform as well as make it more profitable. 4. They need to fix the horrendous verification system. It's ridiculous how people known by millions can't get verified but journalists with like two followers can. 5. They need to stop actively suppressing trends they disagree with politically and they need to stop with the biased blatantly wrong headlines / descriptions for trending news. Unfortunately none of these changes are going to happen because most of the people who work for Twitter are just as terrible as the platform's most active users. That's why Elon Musk can offer them 150% profit on their shares and they'll still refuse to sell the company to him (unless legally forced to for not providing their shareholders with a valid reason for refusal) because that's how passionately they hate Freedom Of Speech and value Twitter as a source of moving the society politically. It's run and most actively used by a bunch of authoritarians who think anybody that disagrees with their world view needs to be silenced and/or destroyed. Because they know that they can't win in an even playing field. Once again actual garbage platform for garbage people so I hope they don't improve I hope it fails and more and more is just seen by the public as a hangout spot for all the worst people in society. |
People like to complain about harassment, but these people are soft. They have all the tools they need to deal with their harassment but refuse to use them: Blocks (3rd party blocklists), mutes (including keyword mute), private, etc. Use the tools available to you, fight your own battles. Edit: I would absolutely ban all the retarded minors, though.  |
