| in the 2000s i used to play pokemon "competitively" online. some people may know of pokemon showdown, which is a browser and desktop app for battling people can use these days. back in the day the pokemon community was on various web forums, IRC (kind of a more general chatting program, precursor to stuff like slack and discord), and a program called pokemon netbattle (precursor to showdown). i had a group of friends i made through netbattle and we began chatting daily on IRC. other than playing pokemon we also had mutual interests in other games, books, music, etc. a bunch of us joined last.fm to keep track of our music, and myanimelist to keep track of our anime. |

| I created my account in August 2014, but ive been using MAL since November/December 2004 when it first started. I was always too lazy to create an account and didnt see the purpose of it. Now, to this day, I regret not creating one in 2004/2005, and to be recognized as one of the old-school members of MAL Back in 04-05, MAL was the one to show me that there is a much more variety of anime asides from the ones that were shown on TV. |
| I was on a similar website called "sky7anime.tv" (now dead) and one user there who I was tryna catch up with after some schoolwork told me he doesn't frequent there anymore and moved to "MAL" 2 or so months later when the site owner announced the site closure I slowly started "packing my stuff" to here. And it just so happened that it was the same day the world was supposed to end. |

| Just type any anime name on google. In first few results of the search, myanimelist will be there along with imdb and wiki for most cases times. eg- So, yeah its pretty easy to find mal. U dont really need some special scenario to find it. |
