On safari logged in, the videos also show the dislike count. |

| I'm stupid and misread the poll so voted no, oops. They should have public like-dislikes, you can tell a lot about a video from the like to dislike ratio, like some people mentioned with scams or ear blasting audio. I've also been warned about really bad content creators by seeing a lot of dislikes on seemingly normal videos, go to the comments to see why and turns out the video creator is a full on criminal. Not someone I'd want to support. |

| I don't really care either way, but I can see both sides of the argument. Yeah, there are people who will genuinely dislike something, but there will also be plenty of people who will just leave a dislike as a joke or to be a dick. Ultimately, they had no real impact on what kind of content someone puts out unless the creator chose to take them into account. At least from what I could tell. Someone I watched recently came up with an idea I think sounds fair, which is to have people that leave dislikes leave a comment as to why they disliked something to weed out everyone who just does it to fuck around. Another fair point they made was that if people really hated something, they could easily leave a comment saying so regardless of whether or not the dislike button is there. |

| First thing I did was install an extension to bring back the dislike counter and ratio bar. Without a dislike counter, the site is absolutely useless, unless the only thing you watch is from channels you already know and trust. |

I have multiple accounts and for some of them the dislikes are gone and others they are not. They added it - obviously - to reduce the huge dislike counts on all their propaganda videos. It's a form of psychological manipulation, where you make a user feel like their dislikes don't matter in the hopes that they stop. Because they can't remove the dislikes for all users (and don't want to). |

All that entertainment on there just exists to calm you down or dumb you down. You probably don't use YT to watch news (and you shouldn't tbh) but the platform is being used exactly for that. And they don't just use official news channel brands for it like CNN, Fox or whatever your country's local news brands are called. But they also hire private entities and pay them to create specific propaganda and of course to a naive and unsuspecting viewer it will just seem like they create the content for no other reason than to garner likes, fame and follow their own passion of becoming an e-celeb. You can even do this yourself, go to some youtubers and offer them money to produce content you want. Some YTers even advertise for this exact thing, saying they will do anything (just like on fiverr) that others ask of them for some bucks. Not all youtubers are so upfront about it. And a government or other large entity with vast resources can pay a lot of youtubers and "influencers", unlike you or I could (or would have any interest in). |

AFAIK, likes and dislikes=/=quality content. What the person does in the video is what really counts. Just because a video has a million likes doesn't mean that it's immune to criticism. Someone out there will always be doing similar things that some educated, diligent Youtubers do but better. Yaymath is a good math teacher, but someone out there will be better than him. Pineapplefred is famous for playing competitive Pokémon, but someone will be better than him too. An experienced martial arts Youtuber should keep in mind that a superior professional fighter will happen at any time. My point is that likes or dislikes have little to do with Youtubers being superior in what they do on camera. What if the best toolmaker in the world decides to post his videos on Rumble instead of Screwtube? Even showing people or plumbers how to make a hi-ten hacksaw out of scrap. Something metal fab Youtubers would be too lazy to do. |
