Do u think bad begginings or bad endings ruins an anime?

does bad endings or begging's or ending's ruin an anime? It depends. say for example steins gate had a slow beggning but does that mean its a bad show? no. i enjoyed the middle and ending of steins gate so much that the it made me forgive the slow begging. Steins gate is not for everyone i just would like to know ur opinion..

Weak endings can damage a story for me but a slow start usually can get saved if everything after it is amazing. Some of my favorites such as Steins;gate and Gintama are usually said to have slow and weaker starts compared to it's peaks

Bad beginnings doesn't, but bad endings do (sometimes, if I didn't enjoy most of it)

It depends how long the beginning is but it can easily ruin an anime popularity. It doesn't matter if the anime is bright after the 6th episode if people all drop it before.

Bad endings are frustrating. In some cases, we have the author who doesn't care anymore and tries to finish his contract, knowing there will be no sequel anyway. Other cases, like 5-toubun, where the author "chooses" the ending and frustrates many readers/watchers.

Overall, they both ruin anime but not with the same consequences.

I don't mind either one, for me, the journey matters more than anything.
So if the start is boring, the rest of the show can carry it. Or if the ending is bad then it was already carried by the whole series that came before.

So yeah, neither one ruins a show for me, if the show was good, a bad beginning/ending can be ignored.

Also a slow beginning =/= bad beginning
Just because Steins;Gate was slow at the start, doesn't mean it was bad, it spends a lot of time building up the characters and the world only to nuke it all in one go to maximize the impact.

I’ve never had a bad ending affect my opinion on a anime/manga, or at least that was true until the finale for SnK came out but that’s just one of those occasions where the ending is complete dog shit, but for the most part unless the writer is purposely trying to make a bad ending I usually don’t have my overall viewing experience impacted if I dislike how it finishes

Beginnings no, unless it makes you drop it so you miss it becoming good. Happened to me the first time I watched FMAB, and I dropped it after 10 or so episodes. I’m glad I picked it back up, but FMAB had a terrible beginning. Steins gate fits that too but not to the same extent as FMAB

Bad endings can absolutely ruin things though. TTGL and Mirai Nikki were pretty good shows (not phenomenal, but really good) and they threw it away at least in my subjective experience

As long as the ending isn't absolute garbage-tier, then I normally don't mind if an ending isn't that good unless it's a mystery anime. It's cliche, but it's very much the journey rather than the destination for me, I won't invalidate 11 episodes of enjoyment due to one bad episode.

On the other hand, bad beginnings will most likely stop me from even watching an anime. I'm not gonna write off an anime completely because of it, but I'm probably still not gonna watch it.

Like most people that have already replied, I think bad endings are much worse than bad beginnings. The ending sometime isn't just the cherry on top, it's the whole cake for some shows.

Bad endings for sure ruin the anime. So many good animes, just destroyed because of their bad endings. Animes like Chobits, Kimikiss, and etc.

Beginnings are usually the first impression of the anime, so I drop it if it's bad or not my taste. As for endings, as long as it doesn't make every story development go to waste, 139.

A bad(idiotic) ending can indeed ruin an otherwise good and enjoyable anime but a slow beginning doesn't, because the anime can get really good afterwards!

A bad ending can definitely ruin an anime, but not always. Depends on how good the middle part is and if it can compensate for the trash ending.

Yes bad ending can ruin it, mostly when all MC's die in the end I say something like" I was watching their story just to see them all die ?"
And when it has bad/boring beginning (lets say first 2-4 episodes) I usually drop anime because I'm not wasting time on bad animes.

bad endings usually ruin the show for me, ending the series with something bad just makes me really disappointed while bad beginnings arent as bad as the series progressively gets better.

I wonder where all these anime with shit beginning and great ending come from, because most of the time it's the opposite. Average starts becoming good don't count, because OP specifically asked for BAD beginnings.

An anime with a bad ending could have been enjoyable up until there.
An anime with a bad beginning can never be great. The first few episodes must hook people's attention, so a half-assed job isn't allowed (unless the rest of the anime is even worse than that).

Bad beginnings are 50/50. If the peak in the second half doesn't make up for it then yes, definitely. If the second half is exponentially better, then no, it wouldn't ruin it.

Bad endings aren't that bad for me tbh, but if it ruins the whole purpose of the series then I'm not a fan of it.

I think bad ending ruins an anime than bad beginning cuz we tend to know more about the plot of the anime even if it ahs bad beginning but the bad ending, just completely ruins all the whole thing bout the anime but if there is another season then the bad ending doesn't hurt

Bad beginnings no.
For the ending I think it depends: for example if a series was for me a 10/10 but the ending (or better the final part/arc, more than just the last episode/chapter) wasn't able to satisfied me, it will probably turn to a 9/10. Of course matter how much was bad.
Well, in the end what's most important for a series is the overall enjoyment, so I'm the type of person who can "forgive" a not-so-good ending if the whole series was really good. Especially because I understand that making a "perfect ending" is really difficult and it's impossible to satisfied every watcher/reader.

Depends.
Black Clover had awful first few or a dozen of episodes, yet it turned out to be good in the end
SAO had very good first arc, but it went to shit after that.
Babylon builded up high expectations for the ending, but eventually not only due it left almost all questions unanswered, but piled up even more.
Charlotte decided to squish whole arc woety of content into one episode for some reason.
Promised Neverland... yea, we all have seen the slideshow.

Every story can be summed up as three simple points:

- Protagonist sets out to do a thing.
- Protagonist struggles to do that thing.
- Protagonist eventually manages to do that thing.

Sometimes they don't manage to do the thing, sometimes they change what the thing they wanted to do is, but the basic structure is always the same.

In other words, the beginning and ending hold far more weight than anything in the middle, even though they take less time. So yes, bad beginnings and endings will ruin a show.
Well I for one already loved Lain.

I think a bad ending is more likely to get me to form negative feelings about a show than a bad beginning. The ending is supposed to be the culmination of a show's events and provide a resolution to all of the ongoing plot threads. Screwing that up is kind of like telling me that "we don't care how the show's issues are resolved". That, to me, is just an awful attitude to have. As if they've come to the conclusion that they can do whatever they want now that they've got me to watch most of their show.

Of course, bad endings aren't just the result of laziness or maliciousness or incompetence. Sometimes there's just too much story to wrap up in too little time. Either way, I'd take a bad beginning over a bad ending. If the beginning isn't good then the show can only go up in quality. If the ending isn't good then it feels like I've wasted my time watching the show.

A bad start can be saved by a good ending. A bad ending is beyond redemption, and a good start can make a bad ending all that much worse to deal with as it hooks you in and then slowly drags you down into the depths of despair as you realize the ending is going to be shit. Yet like any train wreck its hard to avert your eyes when it all started so well.

Yes. If cracks in the writing are already present from the start, it severely limits the potential of a series. A bad ending is even worse as it not only wastes what potential a series may have still had, but ruins what build up of the plot and characters viewers may have been invested in.

Bad endings break an anime. It is the closure of something, that usually concludes the plot and whatever the author intended to convey, so having a trash ending kills a series for me. Don't get me wrong, I still like having a good plot through the series, but the bad endings leave a taste in my mouth that's just unbearable.

Bad beginnings can be hidden if the series turns out to be good. I mean, your first impression is pretty much what hooks you to an anime, but regardless of how bad it was, it won't limit the potential of a series, if something, It just lowers your expectatives on the next couple of episodes

I think both are equally bad. I think a bad beginning can be slightly worse because it will definitely prevent people from getting into the show or continuing it at all even if the rest is good. Bad endings can also determinant of the success of the show and the way it will go down or be remembered.
I sometimes forget to finish my sentences.
