As title suggests, What is something that is normal in your country but weird for the rest of the world?

In my country, we have something called Deep fried Mars bars. It is a bar of chocolate deep fried in batter.

This as well

I Live in America, and salty food is pretty popular here. Not sure if that's much of a thing elsewhere, I know other places enjoy spices. Well I think England and France has some pretty plain food.

Does that mean buying milk in the supermarket or is it something different?

Walking to places. I say this because when my family visited America we had to walk and cross over roads to get to stores etc (and there was no other way) and the motorists kept honking at us. It was quite intimidating...

I don't know enough about day to day life in other countries enough to comment on anything expect how most countries drive on the right side, while we drive on the left.
That and School uniforms, once on a school trip to London, I got stopped by a tourist who thought I was doing a Harry Potter cosplay.

@Crow_Black,

Do you know why they use bags instead of carton/glass bottle? I cant imagine the milk bag bursting when its mixed in with other food items.

In Canada's case, the milk comes in a larger package stuffed with three bladders adding up to four liters. Because the bags aren't rigid like a bottle, some bagged milk fans argue that they're easier to store in the refrigerator. The trade-off, of course, is that they're unwieldy and can't be refilled after opening.

Interesting since America is a massive country. I assume this depends on what states and more of the person's personality?

Is there no pedestrian crossing lights?

@epicpunnyname, I think its the oppisote, most countries are left hand drive because there is a reason (forgot) and most people use right hand which is more convience. I am left and right hand drive is where I am happy enough. Harry Potter Cosplay LMAO. At least you got your first autograph.

@MilkShakeT, WOW that sounds bad. Can't imagine only getting one holiday per year.

Nope, Right Hand Traffic is used in 165 countries and territories, with the remaining 75 countries and territories using Land Hand Traffic according to wikipedia, I think you've confused driving on the left for left hand drive, which is actually usually used in countries where people drive on the right. The term refers to the placement of the steering wheel, not the side people drive on.

I see, I nearly thought the bags would be in liquid form instead of powder. That does suck to be honest and I would assume the expire date is long . The milk over here has a expire date duration of 6-7 days before it goes funny.

@epicpunnyname, my bad, I get what you mean now :)

@LightWorker, That is scary. When someone horns while crossing or driving, I usually stick my middle finger up because it is a sign to warn presence but also the driver is impatient.

@Catalano, cant see the picture lol

@AmityBlight, pretty much lol. I guess you will need to try it before seeing if its good. Wow lucky you. I take it you live in france and I want to ask if you do have Snail dishes? if so what do they taste like/

It's varies for some locations so I can't speak for the whole country but at least for where I live, I still have to go to irl school even if it's like -20 or -30 degrees. We don't have any snow days or such where I live since it's snowing pretty much all the time so it would be pointless.

@ManWild, that is pretty shet. If our country had snow it would come to a halt and people leaving work early to get home.

I don't know if this is normal but while I was in Hong Kong, cars ran red lights like its normal and pedestrians playing dodge cars.

I've only been told this from those outside the US and visiting from EU-- doughnut shops. I was told there are bakeries, convenience stores and Krispey Kreme (which they didn't consider the same as a doughnut stand). But a store or stand dedicated only to doughnuts made them laugh and say of course something like that would be here (in the US).

Sure there are other but I must take them for granted and not recognize them haha

If it’s -40°C outside you’ll still have to go to work/university. As far as I can remember, there are no weather conditions that would allow you to skip or leave work.

Or maybe Christmas celebration. In my country the celebration of the New Year is taken too seriously, but Christmas is treated with indifference, except by very religious people.

Can’t remember anything strange/weird about gastronomy coz I have been only in Europe and product stores seemed the same

I don't know if this can be considered weird or offensive to the rest of the world:

Here we have a culture that in other countries would be considered offensive: In a common conversation, terms referring to the person's appearance, skin color, sexuality and what is thought are used, all of these taken as black or acid humor. The funny thing is that this is totally accepted here (For example, I have Afro-descendant friends who see as normal and affectionate that they say a term that another country would be offensive like "N***a"),

That was what I was gonna say. Grabeng pananampalataya yan..

Aside from that, I think the fact that government transactions here take forever? Is this something other countries also suffer from? I've seen an improvement over the past few years but it's still traditional for the most part, and their online system is still unreliable. People literally take paid leaves because filing something takes the whole day. We don't have enough fund to purchase software, improve the system or pay for IT guys I guess.

yep Duterte pass an EO or law about reducing red tape but they need to improve the IT industry here in our country if they want faster transactions to happen
