Hmm, the author is new at this so the artwork is not as optimal as it can be.

However, comparing with the first few chapters of Claymore or Berserk, we all know that the artwork will improve over time as the author matures and gain more experience.

Other than that, it has a good premise. I can see that it has potential.

The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

yeah the drawings are flawed but I like the style, as far as the story goes it seems a bit mainstream, but it's a bit soon to say

I can say that i am already impressed with the first volume!
The story is already shocking and twisty and I love the concept of constant fear these peoples are living in. And of course, the mythology surrounding the giants is also pretty interesting.

So yea, like everyone already said this manga has great potential.

Actually it seems the author isn't good in drawing kids... because the rest is really good...

I really liked this! I was imagining how terrifying would be to see a 50+m tall dude looking at me, ready to eat me... and I can't do anything about it...

(I love stories of humans getting wiped out of the world by some terrifying creature... or by themselves)

I also just started it and after the first 4 chapters I am totally hooked!

I like the story and the sense of fear. The drawings are not the best, but since the author is young and this manga has just started there is plenty of time to improve.

I think the art style adapts very well to the giants. They have some strange body proportions that make the even more monstrous.

Anyway, even if the characters are not always well drawn they are still very good at showing their emotions.

I am looking forward for the next chapters!

Even though only 4 chapters have been released. I feel like I'm addicted to it already. I love how the story goes about the Giants and Humans.

Hope he continues to make great work :)

To be honest I dun think the art is that bad as many say... It might not be the best but it's certainly an interesting way to draw such kind of world... Feels like they're in an Alternate Timeline of Middle Age... Due to those huge walls and the mention of Armies and different Legions and the King.... But of course it could be set someday in the future... But I totally agree with Eren... Sucks big time they can stroll outside happily just because the damn Giants... or well Titans are outside and can devour you in just one bite... also sucks to be caged... not free to go anywhere...

So there's this Eren boy, the male lead, and Mikasa who looks like it's his sister, Armin their friend, and then their parents... and those Huge freaks... and uber Huge one too... they're simply disgusting... I also wonder where do they come from... I'd gladly join the Scouting Legion too... Looks like Mikasa is a scary one... and reliable too...

Eat mankind!

Oh, that quote was catchy. Mixed feelings on the first chapter but nice cliffhanger there for a dramatic ending. It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's a titan and end of humanity.

I sure hope what's left of humanity isn't trapped in the walls of that one city. I'd also like to know why that skinless giant appears to be smoking/on fire perhaps.

Shingeki no Kyojin, chapter 1. What can I say? Where do I start? I suppose I should start at the beginning. It kicks off beautifully, conflict and terror, the introduction of both the enemy and history of the world, with a nice little quote for extra impact. The introduction was well executed. Next is the look, my god, the look. I have read a few manga's, but all have something in common. They all have relatively crappy artwork at the beginning and require time to come into their own. Shingeki no Kyojin requires no such time, however it is going to get better, for such is the nature of the artist. In all, I see Shingeki no Kyojin as an excellent read and look forward to what happens next.

Yeah the art is not so bad I was expecting more after watching the anime, but I like how the drawing is simple and still not shitty I specially like this part http://z.mfcdn.net/store/manga/9011/01-001.0/compressed/k1.9017e.jpg

Hrmm, well it starts off okay I suppose, everyone was making such a fuss over the anime so I guess I went in thinking this would be a great action/seinen ... It might still be but perhaps I shouldn't get my hopes up since that might ruin it a bit ...

Anyways, looks like that Titan is about to tear the town a new one.

Don't forget the absence of OST and fine animation. The start of SNK isn't that great TBH. Read on from the start all you want, but if you finished the anime, maybe starting from chapter 33 will better...

^ I read the manga and watched the anime at the same time. At first I really prefered anime style but then I just felt that the anime art doesn't really fit the asmotphere as much as the manga does. And the some characters in the anime look so different, especially Eren. His face in anime is kinda childish and naive, really different to the manga's (1 of some rare moments when anime Eren looks alike the manga's is from the first opening's scenes)

I'm not sure if I will continue beyond Volume 1 or 2. I started reading this out of curiosity (and I'm planning on watching the anime), but the artwork is not at a level I expect from a professional. The illustrations look like something an amateur could conjure up. The concept is somewhat novel, but not enough to keep my attention. The writer/artist should've been paired up with another artist to maximize its potential.

Yes, I'm harsh. Reality can be harsh.

lol Isayama isnt a professional. Hes just a young 20-something-year-old whose friends pushed him into submitting his artwork and idea for a monthly manga.

The anime is one of my all-time favourites. I'm only now starting the manga, and I already revere Isayama Hajime. Though the art is a little minimal, Isayama-san is new at this, and coming up with such an idea so young and with so little experience is something I immensely admire him for.

I think Armin is the best drawn character so far. Some view-plans of Mikasa and Eren make them look a little fat.

I'll keep myself from rating this until I get more into the manga.

Reading this after watching the anime. The art is a little iffy, but I can get used to it. I checked volume 16 for a bit to see whether or not the art improves and damn, it seems like as if I'm looking at a different series. The art in that volume as detailed and deep.

Daaamn the chapter was really long compared to so many other manga out there.

I actually love the artstyle in this as well, it really is similar to the anime but very different as well.

I love the way the titans are drawn too, and the shading used makes them look so much more ominous.

Also lmfao, Armin literally jinxed it. Titan appeared because of what he said 100% xD

Nice to see the starting again, specially with some knowledge of what will happen. Regarding the art, it's not the best one, but still enjoyable. Althouht I think that the manga art have a better feeling of despair than the anime.

So, bunch of stuff
Chapter:2U2000years from now
Eren cries and for some reason, the number 845 appears.
"See u later Eren"
"Mikasa, did your hair get longer?"

Look at little Eren Jr.
Gonna cry?
Dad just gives a promise and walks the fuck out of there.
Maybe Eren is suddenly paranoid about Titans after crying the fuck out.
And we see his sister Mikasa bailing the fuck out of him and beating him up. I hope Eren doesn't become a siscon as is typical of manga.
Armin just had to say it. "There is no guarantee the wall won't be breached right now"
Wall gets breached immediately.
You happy Armin?
And well, I heavily doubt the ability of humans to beat Titans, especially since they gave a badass boast of showing what they can do and then get killed instantly.
RIP Braun. You will be missed.
Boring first chapter. Partly because the suspense was given out at the very beginning.
The art is kinda good though.

Lot of spiderman memes incoming

I do not prefer to conservetive. I also think that "people who are satisfied living like caged birds are the real fools" even if people who go out are in trouble with death.
I admire Eren's bravery.

It's incredible that Mikasa is the strongest person in three main characters lol. she is female but soldier. I suppose she will become a great soldier

So Eren crying and dreaming of mikasa, knowing the significance of it, can someone explain the whole thing.
