Really good episode with a nice setting for the first episode of the arc of satoko, it's been some time with higurashi for me so there's a lot of things I've forgotten, I'll look forward to see where this arc takes us (madness mostly I think)
In France we have Sassa/Totoche for the surname of Satoshi (Nii-Nii) and I think that's fucking beautiful
Also seing others people being dead mad about this is kinda funny

This will be just another "culture difference" that will be ignored because Americans apparently are too dumb to understand both culture and subtlety .

I am actually surprised they havent lost their minds with the fact that every kid of every age shares the same classroom.

Lol, none of you (except the one person who posted it) even knew this tidbit. It was lost on you regardless of the localization. Get off your high horse.

I know you admitted it, that's not the point. You can't complain that a bit of trivia was lost in the localization when it was lost on almost everyone either way. "Nii-nii" or "Big Brudder," you weren't getting this, yet you blame the localization. There was no way to get this across unless you actually know the language. It's not like it's even relevant to the plot.

You also made this garbage post:

You are mad about that? Pal, piss off.

Yes I wouldnt know that nii nii could mean anything else. That doesnt change that any cultural significance or meaning wasnt lost.

I, and so many others may have not known. That doesnt mean thaat people that could get it dont exist.
Just like there are many japanese words, celebrations and customs people can pick up easier than others.

So if you are trying to make a case for one fucking word that people here didnt know then piss off.

Go to her tweet and join her at laughing at us weebs and old fans.

And btw yes it is relevant to the plot with or without any hidden meaning.

Tataridamashi-hen, another question arc begin..

Keiichi have some good quality time with Satoko, that's cute
Mentioned about Satoshi and introduction for Irie.
Yap the iconic baseball scene similar to the OG.

Just learn to watch raw so you don't need to deal with shitty subs.

I've given up on translation quality a long time ago. Official translators are often paid for their speed, not quality. Also, their audience is generally the average "American" who knows nothing about other cultures.

I really was hoping they would not remake this arc. It was clearly the worst in the original anime and somehow they managed to make its first episode even worse in this one.
The show is dropping in quality the chills this episode gave me in the og are nowhere to be found in this version.
I mean the conversation of mi , rena and k1 at the end of ogs 8th episode is so powerful because of renas words. It so freaking creepy. And on top of that deen played with the view angles muuuch better that just added a big mistrust. Unfortunately that is totally missing now.
They just didnt add anything to the creepiness of satoshis dissapearance. Hopefully they will change this arc to the better from now on but i highly doubt it.

I really liked this episode. I think it was the first time we had an episode with such good pacing. I liked the introduction of Irie. It was the first time we see him and it was very short, but we already have seen several facets of his character. In the VN the corresponding arc is one of my favorite. I think here also the tone is more serious and the story is more fluid.

Right now, on this instant, give me proof that Satoshi is Nii-Nii because of the Cicada name.
And I don't care the OP says, not only does that FAQ say Satoshi as a Nii-Nii Cicada, it says Keiichi is a Higurashi Cicada which makes 0 sense, so prove us Ryukishi agrees with this.

If you can't, then get down from your high horse and apologize these gentlemen your ignorant and rude behaviour.

Just from that answer I‘m guessing you didn’t see the 2006 anime & its second season or read the VN.
I’d highly recommend doing so, cause there is actually a point in this (and it’s way more enjoyable if you’ve seen the old show, cause this is more of a sequel than a remake).
There are multiple resets in the og too tho, so if you don’t like shows that deal with time loops or “resets”, Higurashi won’t be your cup of tea.

We're back with another classic episode of 90% boring SOL and 10% thriller/mystery. After this arc is done do things start to finally tie together? Or is the rest of the anime going to be over hyped and underwhelming shitty arcs? The Deen higurashi actually seemed creepy, but now I'm watching this and for the most part I'm bored, so I just want some answers.

I don't see a problem with the translation. Satoko is a small child and "nii nii" is supposed to be a cute way for her to refer her brother. There's not much an english translation can do there besides just keep "nii nii," which is lazy.

My biggest gripe are the weird pedo jokes in this show and playing it off as if it's some cute and adorable thing. I know the original made Irie a pedo, too, but I would think in 2020 they wouldn't do that again (not that it was ok back then either).

Except that Big Brudder isnt cute.

It is like instead of Satoko it is Hulk Hogan that is talking.

And lets not even talk about Big Shishter which is even worse but if we are lucky wont see much.

Bro bro, blother, brota or any other way to make brother sound like a child is saying it. Big Brudder isnt that.

Also, Irie isnt a pedo never was, he is messing around. And all jokes are welcomed.

Yes it was, not necessarily to only your last response on the argument, but the previous ones too.

If it doesn't make sense and you don't remember the full argument you were just having, you'd ought to reread what you wrote yourself and as a response to what.

If it still doesn't make any sense, I'd recommend taking a heed of the suggestion ssjokg gave to you.

What comes to hypocrisy, you're hypocritically calling ssjokg a hypocrite which makes you a hypocrite yourself.

For reference:
Wikipedia says "Hypocrisy is the practice of engaging in the same behavior or activity for which one criticizes another "
and dictionary says "The practice of claiming to have higher standards or more noble beliefs than is the case."

I was actually hoping they wouldn't go there, but I was disappointed. Damn, Irie can be the king of maids without being a pedo. Don't get me wrong, I love Irie, but not this part of him.

And both Gou and the OG anime were much more toned down compared to the VN. I remember one particular scene where Keiichi gets a nosebleed because Rika is pressing her "unripe breasts" against his arm... like what the hell, dude. Sexualizing little girls in any way should never be played off as a joke, ever.

What bothers me since some time now, how can the time reset for Keiichi when he didn't die in the previous arc? It's weird!

Lol I didn't expect Satoko's uncle to make me feel really disguisted.
back in the days anime apparently was more pedo influenced.

But it isnt Keicihi's death that "resets time". In Re:Zero only one person has to die for the loop to happen right?

And it is more like lopping back into a different timeline. The world from the previous two arc continue existing.

The time reset has nothing to do with Keiichi at all. Neither in the original nor in this version. That Keiichi died was only a result of one of the fragments. There is only one character that has knowledge of all the fragments with also the key for "Steins;Gate" I mean perfect world.

And it was already shown in episode 2 of Higurashi no naku koro ni Gou

Overall, it was a very decent episode. Wasn't boring as the first episodes from the previous arcs since this one provided more info about the characters' backgrounds and personally speaking, the idea of making Keiichi and Satoko get closer by having them forming a sort of "brother-sister" bond is pretty nice. The lolicon jokes were kinda cringey tho. Especially considering how the episode concluded.

No, but since it's Hojo Teppei I wouldn't be surprised if his behavior towards Satoko included that. He's one of the biggest pieces of shit in the entire story after all.

You mean Irie? Yeah, he does that sometimes. Him making Keiichi promise what he promised proves he's a good person at his core though.

Yeah, I have read here that many people like his character. Guess it just wasn't the best of character introductions then...

Yeah, I thought you noticed that shot. And from what I can read from some of the VN readers he would've raped Satoko if she was older anyway.

It's still part of his character, justnot the part I like about him. Unfortunately Irie isn't the only character in the series that can give off huge pedo vibes.

At first, I thought Teppei was Satoshi. He turned out to be Satoko's uncle after all. I didn't like the implication of the last part. I hope I'm wrong in my interpretation.

I'm amazed by their bentos. I'm really impressed with how Japanese people make the effort with their lunch boxes. I don't think I'd have enough time to spare decorating my food though.

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

Rena was so weird? Why the sudden change of attitude when he mentioned Satokos older brother? Also Satoko so far is my least favorite character, I do not care for her at all

Ah, Irie is a kindred spirit. I would do the same thing to Satoko. Groom her into becoming the perfect waifu. hehe

Rena consistently appears as enemy in every playthrough.

I have an idea what Teppei has in store for Satoko behind close doors.
