I'm quite impressed by how far Hanamiya School is progressing in this competition. However, within their team, it feels something is off.

This episode felt like a mix of sports and psychological drama. It seems it's not just physical conditions some players have to worry about but also their mental state.

Man I feel bad for Jun. While konomi’s soaring, she’s struggling. Time for Kouhai to come to the rescue. Another great ep.

As suspected Konomi is overusing her observation ability and bit or better said she is over thinking, just the was she is in a trance even outside of the matches.
If she learns how to use that ability just during the matches than she can improve her matches.
Tho from the looks of it was was still missing some stamina and muscle power for the last course so she needs to work on that as well.

Jun was probably worrying to much she is a obsessed with climbing but i think this time she was suffering from peer pressure as well.
Knowing what Konomi did she thought she needed to do better which backfired on her.

Now I'm gonna guess the spidergirl will shock the entire stadium by finish all 4 problems in one try, and probably even faster since she doesn't need to run a simulation in her head, while our captain will also finish all problems, maybe not in the first try. The captain of the white team might not finish all 4 problesm though.

It sucks this show is getting overlooked as the standard garbage fan service show of the season. The story is actually good I know I'm properly invested.

Konomi could not complete problem D sadly.

Well the pressure got to most of the contestants that climbed after her one of them being her own teammate, Jun. Unfortunately Jun was not able to get one problem finished do to her believing she will fall again. Jun may have to goodbye to her screen time.

OK episode :)

Jun, we get it, you like climbing. But did you have to say that to your only friend? I don't think so. I still feel bad for her though, Konomi is too op.

Crunchyroll has released it for subscribers. Subscribers get this, and most other, shows on the day they are aired in Japan. Non-subscribers have a one-week delay.

Konomi was the last person Jun wanted to see after her performance.

Now that's why Jun didn't accept Konomin im the beginning, she is too obsessed with climbing, and that's not good.

Now that Konomin is very good with their skills, Jun (and so the other girls) feels the pressure and well, some say that the biggest challange is our mind, being calmed is the key of succes.

Konomin needs to learn how to control his observation skills and she will be goodlike.

Not to mention MAL has this ranked on the Top 10 most dropped anime this season at #9, saw a post on their FB page BTW.
TBF, this is DEFINITELY another show where someone wants to be the best in Japan at something, makes friends and rivals, that sorta thing. While it's nowhere close to the likes of Haikyuu, Free, Kuroko no Basket, and Chihayafuru, but it's definitely not that bad a show, there's worse shows this season like Kimi to Boku no Saigo and that Million Lives isekai.

Damn, fatigue caught up to Konomi mentally and physically but, if that is what she can do in just a few months of getting into rock climbing then she has a bright future ahead of her.

Jun-chan though :((. I feel really bad for her but, her super serious competitive mindset can also be her downfall. She needs to lay back a little, hopefully she learns that eventually.

That was a good episode, it's up to Yotsuba now to lead the team.

Well that nasty luck didn't last as Konomi failed to climb the last wall. This time, it's Jun's turn to compete but throughout the episode she failed everytime. I'm really sad for Jun that she didn't succeed in the same way as Konomi did. All her life she have rock climbing but it felt like she was giving up everything in that last wall. Next week, maybe we get Sayo to end this semis arc.

So the "failure of a climber" isn't just Konomi, but also the person who roped her in instead, Jun Uehara.

Back to Konomi's Game Analyzer mode, but the overstress of thinking proves to be her first overarching problem. Nevertheless, what an impression she made. Now, it's strength and stamina training, because that's how computers work: without her "memory training", she'd have little to no processing power. Much less the panic from a mere rookie to experienced veterans, this is shaking up the competition bit by bit.

Jun's turn to conquer the problems, and just like the others, the serious competition mindset is their Achilles' Heel, or even adding to the presure which are Konomi's one-shot appearances. For her only friend to support her and be super judgmental on her performance (like Konomi when she first started in Episode 1), her personality hasn't wavered and moved on from that point onwards.

This is a character development episode, and I can say that this delivers substantially.

Man, one thing is to be passionate about doing something you love but another one is to be utterly obsessed with it. That's not healthy at all.

Overall, not as good as previous episodes. As expected, Konomi's mind went into overdrive and as a result, she ended up failing the last wall. Still, she did quite the impressive performance and left a quite strong impression on the other participants, including her own teammates. Unfortunately, said impression ended up turning into too much pressure for Jun to handle so now, let's hope Sayo can solve all the walls and make their school reach a good position.

Welp that went horribly, Konomi couldn't send the final route and damn Jun and Kurea couldn't even send a single route. Konomi sending the first three routes in one go affected them big time mentally.

Hopefully they'll recover from the shock of not being able to send a single route soon.

Ooba finally admit defeat to Konomi. And she will be remembered as the girl who did a mad shriek in the semi-finals.

am I being mean to say was laughing so hard when Jun got traumatized, and her only consolation is Bol-chan. That shock on her face when could not climb the first wall. Was already laughing when the handgrips were shown. lol

those are some mean comments from the live commentary people..
are real commentators in sports events really like this?

Ah, guess Konomin still needed more practices to sustain her stamina that really wasted so much on her first three challenge. Maybe his analytical brain charging really became a great struggle for her energy to wasted worsen than the normal circumtances. By forcing it too hard in one try was not so great that really impacted much to her general performance. Well, 1 out of 4 was not bad. I am so glad my prediction won't be a true in Konomin case and the next one. Because its might be awful to see the show with so much predictable mission, especially with these kind of show. By accomplishing it, i am pretty much enjoying this little show.

And yes, its not that her. Its Jun, really following up a failure from her little senpai to reach the final stage. As expected as before, everyone getting a great pressure when knewing someone from their below could one-shot the challenge, they must be success too. When they couldn't even reach a satisfying goals, they reach a stress state and took them into a panic situations. Jun, unfortunately, caught off into those whole conditions.

She must be over thinking it, by taking Konomin success as her burden. As a result she couldn't even think clearly, rushed like hell, didn't learn from the previous mistakes, and finally decide to gave up with a lot of fear. Jun, indirectly, led herself into a doom. Dang! What an end! I hope she would be fine! But i guess its need a time because it seemed very stressing her much. Oh well, the next episode might be conclusing her conditions. Still, i am worry about the title for the next episode that looks like another important girl will be following up Jun's failure. Was that her?

Seriously... watching this makes me miss climbing so much.
The last time I climbed was probably at least 4 years ago back in college.

I'm no competitive climber but even I look at the wall a few seconds before climbing to see my route and possible hard spots.

Interesting episode and development for the characters.
I'm surprised at how mentally powerful Konomin's 1-shots were to the other climbers.
Like I don't think anyone made it to the top yet aside from Konomin.
Though, given the really good climbers haven't started yet.

Amazing episode, great example of psychological show don't tell type of anime.
Konomi screw others competitors with her performance sadly she couldn't finish last wall because she ran out of stamina, because used a lot of energy using her mind, this was clearly shown when her mental simulation shut down hence no more physical energy left, Juuzou old fox was the only one to realised.
Poor Jun-chan the fall hit really hard.

As a climber myself I disagree with your interpretation of the events guys.

Many times you can see the solution for a route, but you are exhausted or don't have the required technique to pull it off. I interpreted that failure as a discrepancy between her ability to read the route and the strength required to pull it off...

Also I loved these two past episodes. We have plenty of underdog stories, but it's refreshing to see how other people deal with being contested by a prodigy. Oba recognizing how her team comes before her personal barriers was also really cool to watch. I'm loving the story telling and how it integrates different styles of climbing. In every group you have the campus master, the dyno and they even addressed how tall people are actually at a disadvantage as your muscles lock in awkward positions.

Sadly the anime is too short and will fall flat on the more interesting aspects of the climb... Like resting, shaking and how brutal Is the accumulation of lactic acid and how it saps your strength preventing grip

Overall it's an 8/10 for me. Just because it has some annoying characters. I'd love to see less flashy personas that you can get behind. But as it stands you are forced to root against every other girl that's not Konomi, which I think is the strength of haikyuu... Where you can have a favourite character aside from the main cast
