Best part of the episode was the Haruno conversation with Hachiman, glad they kept that in this episode since I thought they might have cut that in the previous one. Also feel really have struggled with animating Oregairu yet again. Two seasons they've done in 2015 and 2020 and both look sloppy with frames and animating character movements. There's nothing wrong with the animation. |

The art style fits the tone more with the second and third seasons but it just feels like they took the lazy approach in trying to go for brilliant animation, and ended up in this weird purgatory where while it should look better, just feels really off for me. Oregairu's anime isn't ruined for me completely by any means, but I just wish feel did a better job if they were pushing hard for this newer style. If you prefer it then that's fine, I can see why people would love this style and even the animation for it more, but it's not something I feel that was done well enough in my opinion. |

Great ep as always. Haruno with 8man moments are always scary lol. Yukino wants to help Iroha's prom by herself. That last segment is really sad for Yui fans lmao. Has anyone realised Hachiman's eyes looked slightly different compared to the last episode? Some shots also looked pretty weird, Yukino's slightly derpface and 8man's weird nose. |

Haruno moments are always fun. We need more of her. Also that, "You can't get drunk!" Damn, that was an intense line to throw at Hachiman. Haruno's pretty confident in stating that no matter what he does, Hikki can't throw away that cynical and self conscious part of him away. Being Yui is suffering, felt pretty bad for her when she said that in truth, perhaps she never really wanted anything genuine. The piano version of Hello alone made me very nostalgic. I'm always rooting for Yukinon. <3 |

Aye, Iroha makes her season 3 debut, and wants to do a prom. I wonder what Haruno could've meant when she told Hachiman that she thinks he "can't get drunk"? I personally think she was saying that he wouldn't be able to fall in love. Am I wrong? Probbaly lol. Dang, as much as I don't want Yui to feel hurt, I really like how Yukino has a picture of herself and Hachiman on that water ride from the amusement park. Gahhh, I want next week to come sooner! |

I'm confused because this series like to imply (which is good): what is Yukinoshita's goal? What does she want to tell her parents? What was the other girl (whose name I forgot)'s monologue at the end about? What did she mean when she said she never wanted anything "genuine?" landofthekwt said: The prom arc arrives Yui is crushed by the weight of Yukino's feelings knowing that Yukino has reached a place that she will never reach And that place is, I'm guessing, being more intimate with 8man? |

What an episode! when yui started her inner monologue and saw a photo of hachiman and yukinon together it was the highlight of the episode to be honest if you watched this episode and weren't that invested and attached from the show then this episode would probably fall flat for you. so I don't expect everyone to like it. |

Finally, it's out! Was hoping that HS wasn't late this time, but I guess something's up. And I heard the subs that HS is ripping from is bad too, so... We finally get to see what happened that night when they met Haruno. Haruno is always such an interesting and complex character. I always feel like I don't really know what she truly feels or thinks about something. I don't have much to say about what they talked about in the apartment, but the scene between Haruno and Hachiman was interesting. It seems Haruno and Hachiman are really alike. The first time I heard it, I didn't understand what they meant by talking about not being able to get drunk. But now I understand that it's their mask. Drunk people show their true selves or desires, but Haruno can't ever get drunk no matter how much alcohol she drinks. A part of her always remains composed, calm, observant - a part of her is always shielded, kept secret. And Hachiman is like that too. Despite his dislike of superficiality, even he has a mask on for parts of himself. He can never 100% truly be himself. And I guess that statement kept ringing in his mind even at school. Also, just how close is Hayama to Haruno so that he even knows about Yukino going back home? Iroha's back! There's always a certain vibe (no doubt aided by the music that kicked in) whenever Iroha comes in. I've heard a bit about there being a prom from LN readers. I guess this is it, and gives a lot more context to the OP's dancing sequences (especially seeing that the same costumes were worn by Yukino and Yui in the next week preview!). I don't fully understand why Iroha wants the prom to be this year, but I guess it has something to do with wanting to be queen? Iroha unexpectedly hugging Yukino was a pleasant surprise. That was a pretty cute interaction between them, especially with Iroha saying that what she was saying was scary and she should stop it. I'm glad to see Yukino opening up more and being more honest with Yui and Hachiman. Wouldn't have expected her saying something like that about wanting to try and accomplish it alone two seasons ago. Can anyone explain what happened when Yukino thanked Yui with the moving in that scene though? It was as if Yui felt she was brushed aside. Yukino thanked her, but it kinda seemed like she felt she wasn't really part of the conversation and was just a third-party. That final scene though... as an absolute Yui fan and someone who definitely roots for her, that really hurts. I just wanted to hug Yui in that scene. Made me really sad to see her realise, doubtless inside she was sad and suffering. The translations did a pretty good job with the monologue, but the LN provides more context and made me understand it more. ShiroHachi said: Yui's monologue about that photo(LN volume 12), if you want to understand what Yui was thinking at that time, because I know the subtitles might ruin this scene: I should forget it. I should pretend that I never saw it. I can't pretend that this moment never happened, but I could at least forget. Surely, she would do the same. This photo was without any sort of decoration, but still meticulously placed within the depth of her treasures. She kept her feelings here without even thinking how she would put them into words, nor even conceiving how she would put them into actions. Perhaps it would be better for me to ask about it instead. I could ask her in a joking manner, like I was teasing her. Then, I could laugh and tell her that I'll be rooting for her, or something like that. Yet, if I were to really do that, then maybe everything would come to an end. If I asked and questioned her, she would certainly deny it and say that it's not like that, that such a thing is impossible, then end it as is there. She won't acknowledge it, will overlook it, ignore it, and neglect it. She'll pretend that none of it ever happened and forget about it, then lose all of it. That's why I definitely won't ask her. It is unfair to hear her feelings. It is unfair to say one's feelings. But, that's because it's scary to know his feelings. It would be most unfair to blame her. The truth is that I've known for a long time. That there was a place that I won't be able to enter. Even though I've stood in front of that door many times, I thought it best not to interrupt them, that I should only peek through and listen. The truth is that I've known for a long time. That I want to go there, too. That's all I've ever wanted. That's why, the truth is… Something genuine, I never wanted it. Thanks a lot for this! I really wanted to know fully what Yui was thinking. And it just made me sadder :( It seems Yui has realised for quite some time now that Yukino has some feelings for Hachiman, and that there are moments that they shared that Yui was never part of. A place Yui wanted to go, but never could. She could just stand outside the door, near but not inside. She couldn't be a part of it. She could only listen and see. How painful that sort of suffering must be... I've done my absolute best to avoid spoilers for the last few months. But even so, I'm just guessing here (not gonna put it in a spoiler tag because I really don't know, it's just my opinion) that the end game is Hachiman with Yukino, as much as I want it to be different. I just hope at least she can find her own happiness... I haven't lost hope yet, of course, but all the signs seem to point towards. "That's why, honestly... I never wanted something genuine." I understand her feelings very much. Something genuine can be painful and hurtful to one, so something that isn't genuine might just be as well. But this is also one reason why I think the end game isn't going to be her as much as it pains me to say it. Hachiman seeks that something genuine. He hates superficiality and seeks something more real, more authentic. But with how things are progressing with this search for something genuine, Yui never wanted it. Just gotta thank the OreGairu fan community for being really nice regarding Yui or Yukino. A lot of other anime fandoms feel really toxic with who's gonna end up with the MC or who's best girl. But from what I've read from this forum, even those who don't root for Yui or anything felt for her too and I didn't ready many mean or disparaging comments. Thanks a lot to the community! I really love this series and love both Yui and Yukino, even if I root more for Yui. I hope the community continues like this and doesn't become a ship war ^^ |

aw SHIT BRO. They are really making it harder and harder for me to get through to the end of these episode without crying at the end like a bitch either out of nostalgia or pure sadness. Always had mixed feelings about Haruno, i use to feel like she was just there to wind Yukino up and to show that she was the superior child, but maybe halfway through s2 (maybe a bit more) it did change and i felt myself showing sympathy to her. Iroha appears! She's back at it again with giving 8man puppy eyes and making him take responsibility, also oof sensei only got like 30 seconds of screen time :c "I never wanted anything genuine" Oh no my poor Yui, oh no sweet child :( i think we can all some-what agree Yui is fighting a loosing battle up against someone as vast as Yukino, but i really hope this anime doesn't completely shaft her because of this and atleast give her a fighting chance. God that photo flew over my head, and i just remembered how amazing that scene with Hachiman and Yukino was. |

I sometimes don't understand what the director thinks. Hachiman's monologues are very important, but they chose to make Hachiman look quiet and passive and skip those monologues. In the LN, he thinks of many things like Haruno's words and Yukinoshita. The worst thing is anime only can't guess Hachiman's feelings. I feel like they are trying to maintain the harem element of this series. The worst is how they always treat Yukino. Until when will they keep cutting Yukino's romantic scenes? |

I SCREAMED at the end of this episode!!!! IVE BEEN WAITING YEARS FOR THAT FREAKING PICTURE TO MAKE A COME BACK AND FINALLY!!!! Oh god It was super adorable! I felt sort of bad for Yui though. God damn another masterful episode. I feel as though they put EXTRA into the animation budget. it looks so much better then season 2 and season 2 was fantastic. Good Haruno moments were actually good and not annoying but the highlight of this episode was the Iroha x Yukino moments. The Hug, the push away and eventually Iroha calling her "Yukino Senpai" SO GOOD! Also the development and acceptance that Yukino has now is so good! Who will be our Prom King and Queen though??? |

this is what im looking for the oregairu..... lets start with the PROM... i love the idea.. iroha might just be saying she wants to be a prom queen, but lets see if thats the only real reason why she is pushing that thing to be happen and its still very early.. yukinon finally decided on what she wants from her life so she will talk to her mom regarding such thing. good thing her sister supports that one.. and the REAL INTERESTING PART, the YUI monologue, when she saw the picture of Yukinon and hachiman together... that line she have said are impactful, and you could feel the emotions on it... and it makes me wonder, if you are in a condition like Yui, what will you do? 10/10... for that last part 8/10 overall for this episode |

I haven't watched an Oregairu episode since the 2nd season ended and these past few episodes left me slightly confused. No flashbacks or context given whatsoever. Which is good for the extra few seconds of run time? Anyway, from what I know, Yukinoshita has family problems ever since from the start. Her parents are very controlling and her life was probably be already planned by them. For example she's being shipped by the blonde chad guy by her parents when both of them don't really like each other too much. She only brought up this issue now because she now fully trusts Hachiman and Yui to confide with them and that their 2nd year of highschool is almost ending -- meaning that they're going to go to their specialization years now, with Yukinoshita going into STEM and Hachiman and Yui almost inevitably going to be Humanities. So there's this fear that the Service Club is going to be disbanded in the near future because of the incompatibility of schedules. Yukino probably wants to have more control in her life and that's why she's taking it up to her older sister (which is kinda a reflection of her future self if she doesn't take action now) and taking it up to her parents. While the word "genuine" is very abstract, Yui probably means that she is being disingenuous because she is trying to hide the pain of seeing Hachiman preferring Yukino in order to preserve the status quo of the club. For her to be genuine, she would have to be honest about what she feels. |

I still can't get used of the drama atmosphere left by the end of 2nd season. I know Oregairu is a bit more dramatic than other show, and will probably be one of the most drama-heavy anime. Guh... It suffocates me for most of the time. I never complained that it's bad, though, so don't misunderstand. Oregairu holds a very special place in my list. I just need a bit of time to adjust to this heavy drama that we might have in this season. About the girls, I know that: - Yui is going to be a good wife. - But Yukino is a "must protect" damsel. And I'm a huge sucker for the latter. The strange things is, I can't favor too much into Yukino's side because Yui is a good girl, a genuinely good girl at that. I haven't read the latest novels, but the most likely outcome of the story is for Hachiman to not choose anyone. Looking at his character and how good the girls are, so yeah, that might be the case. |

I love this anime so much that i rewatch the previous ep before watching the new ep Also i like to point out the great narrative and story of this anime. The animation got way better. The story maybe confusing to some but you will get it as the story progresses. After watchin this ep i get it now why theres a dance in the OP also the OP was growin on me I love all the characters in this anime especially the trio of 8man,yukinon and yuigahama that i want them to be all happy at the end of this series but that last scene with yuigahama, i dont want her to left behind in the end i hope she found another love interest but its likely not gonna happen. On the other hand, Yukinon really treasured that pic of them of Hachiman. My Hachiman x Yukinon blood is boiling. |

Ryuseishun said: Now that you mention it, I can now understand more as to why there's people who preferred Brain's Base style of animation in s1. I mean, to each his own, and tbf, studio Feel isn't exactly something like A1, ufotable, or even KyoAni (which I know you really hate for most part, btw). For a studio not really known for clean-looking frames, I personally think they did at least a hella decent job, although not having some of the animation staff from last season kinda sucks. Brain's Base's style of animation? Don't make me laugh. Exactly what animation are you talking about? For the record, I decided to rewatch S1 and S2 right before starting S3 and I binged through them within 3 days. The animation in season 1 was basically non-existent. Sooooooo many panning still-shots. Remember at the beginning of S2 when Feel did that flashback of events from S1 - the stage performance as well as Hachiman and Hayato on the rooftop? Well, it was quite obvious that feel was flexing on Brain's Base with those scenes redone because they were actually properly animated. Go back and see for yourself. Brain's Base literally just had them standing on the stage, playing their instruments with very little movement and furthermore the audience was standing completely still, no animation whatsoever. This was a common theme in season 1: a distinct lack of animation. Hell, even compare it to Penguindrum from 2011 (another Brain's Base show) and see how much better-made that was. Feel, meanwhile, actually consistently animated background characters, crowds, and background elements. Season 2 had a lot less panning still shots and improved character animation. Although, towards the end of Season 2, it was pretty obvious that they started cutting corners as the still, panning shots became more prevalent. Season 3, however, has been absolutely amazing in terms of direction, animation quality (especially character animations - they look so smooth it's as if they've been rotoscoped!), art, and background elements. Even further, the sound direction is on point and feels so much more personal than either of the previous two seasons. The production of Season 3 is definitely better than the previous two seasons. Brain's Base did a pretty terrible job on Season 1 and I don't know why people can't see the clear step up in quality between S1 and S2, and now between S2 and S3. They did change the character designs a bit, more specifically the faces in S3, and a lot of people have noticed this. I think though that they're spending so much time improving the quality of the show as a whole that they're spending less time on the actual character art which is certainly a drawback; however, again, the overall quality of production is so much higher than the previous two seasons, and some wonky character art here and there can be easily fixed for the BDs. Animation is a lot more difficult to go back and fix for BDs. |

So Yukino has never had a proper conversation with her parents about her desires. 2.What was the other girl (whose name I forgot)'s monologue at the end about? her name is Yuigahama Yui .In that monologue,She talks about how she already knew that Yukino has feelings for Hachiman and Yui has no chance against her .She wanted to forget it ,She doesn't blame her for it . 3.What did she mean when she said she never wanted anything "genuine?" To put it in short , Hachiman first expressed his desire to want something genuine. Hachiman has a bad habit of reading in between lines of people .He always tries to find the facade every people tries to put .So now he wanted a genuine relationship where he doesn't have to worry about this, because he would already know what his partner wants .Genuine Relationship is a thing where the person involved doesn't have to worry about his/her partner's feelings , it's something like "If I had to go to the world's end my partner will accompany me without a question." .This is what Hachiman wants ,a proper understanding-ful relationship . Here Yuigahama acknowledges that she never wanted it .She never tries to put efforts to understand it .More or less, she doesn't have the capability of presenting a genuine relationship to Hachiman, but Yukino has .That's why she said she never wanted something genuine . |

Yui's monologue made sense until the very last part. What she said made me realise she wants something genuine and have been trying to achieve it time and time again. The last sentence really did feel like it came out of nowhere. |

What a great episode, and it's cool to see Iroha lighting up the mood. It's going to be ok Yui, looking forward to next episode for the prom planning and of course Totsuka. |

So Yukino is going to tell mom, what she wants?.. Wonder, what Yukino wants.. Oh, Haruno will support Yukino in talk to mom, huh?.. Wonder, if Haruno would actually want Yukino to take her place in ruling business and stuff.. Well, as she kinda encouraged Yukino to be leader before and stuff.. But will see, really.. Yui slapping Yukino's thighs at 06:06, lol.. ;P Adorable or meme material, I'd say.. Well, Yukino made her clear.. a bit.. But we still don't really know, what she's going to tell or what she wants in the end.. So it's not really clear at all.. ;D Haruno is good at controlling her emotions and stuff even when drinking, she says.. I wonder.. How good people in general good in controlling themselves.. When they're not drunk.. At the same time, though.. I'm not really sure, if it matters that much or not.. Eventually, whether you're more or less controlling of yourself - you'll find friend, or something you want, if you'll continue to search.. Even complete air head or completely shy person will be liked by many, and disliked by some, it feels.. But it feels so to me.. And then at 9:55 Yui also slaps Hachiman.. Yui likes to slap persons she likes, lol.. ;P But for real, though, I think it's like so.. Wonder, by the way, what would become of club.. If Yukino would have to leave to the family for quite some time.. Hachiman would hang out with Yui?.. Not sure.. They'd probably be all guilty and stuff or something, and it'd be awkward.. Until someone would take situation in his/her hands and slap-slap the other one to start talking in alright way as well, lol.. ;P Eeeeh.. Fancy dance for last class party?.. I don't really like too much this idea myself.. I don't like to dance, really, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't dance and don't like that, really.. It's hit or miss choice, really.. Of course as this is anime, perhaps it'll turn out great, or something, but really in reality lots of people would be left disappointed or embarrassed, really.. .. Well, unless only organizers of thanks are those, who dance.. Not the class themselves.. I don't know, who dances in prom.. If it's organizers, then it's just dance play pretty much?.. Seeing actors dancing or something.. So.. That dance in OP is probably prom dancing tease or something then?.. Yukino getting hugged by Iroha~ ;P Wonder, if they could be friends.. Well, Yui maybe the second time or something tells that she didn't want anything genuine.. In relationships, I assume?.. But it's too ambiguous to tell what she means at all.. Like.. It can be that she wants to ship Yukino and Hachiman, but also would like trying to date Hachiman, but wants to push this wish of hers.. And that's where she doesn't want to be genuine.. Or maybe it's something else.. It's just too ambiguous for me to tell, really.. What are "chick flick" movies, by the way?.. ;D Ah, ok, googled it.. Well.. I like my slice of life, romance, drama anime.. So I'm ok with Iroha enjoying chick flicks, I guess.. This name sounds a bit rude, though, unless you're using it ironically or something.. Or maybe I just don't know about term, really.. Either way, I'm not really movie guy, and in anime community this term never used, really.. |

Finally after 5 years we get to see Iroha again with her selfish request dragging the club just to make moves with Hayama she doesn't really wanna give up and it was a good first step for Yukino growing and achieving her dreams with Yui and Hachiman seeing her. Meanwhile Haruno is still approaching Hachiman the same way. She is really an interesting character and Yui I don't really know what to say after she saw that picture and I think something is boiling after that. |
