Good? Bad? Everything it's disgusting to look at? We need more tentacles? What's the right answer? I'm not referring to hentai. |

they could be done better i.e., more passionate, but even just finding sex scenes are pretty rare let alone finding them in shounen/shoujo. Josei is really where they mostly are in |

Tentacles are always the right answer They're nothing special imo. Not like there's many sex scenes in anime to begin with. One thing I dislike is when the girl starts crying though. There's better ways to show that they're embarrassed. |

I don't recall having watched that many sex scenes in non-hentai anime, but i think Parasyte's sex scene near the end was done tastefully. Tokyo Ghoul: re Season 2's scene was also kinda sweet. The sex scenes in the 90s Berserk and the Golden Age movies are also handled quite well whether they're portrayed in a positive or negative context. |

Don’t want to see it so I’m grateful it’s not there for the most part in “normal” anime. Honestly, sometimes the suggestion of it alone is enough. I just want to move forward with story. Also, anime maybe opening up to the west but it’s still East Asia and they have their own views on sex being presented in mainstream media. And thank goodness, sometimes I’m watching a western show and bam! sex scene outta nowhere for no reason... |

That will still leave 355 anime which are not rated Rx and show sexual intercourse of some form. Far to general a question. |

If you are talking about normal anime, ex scenes I'm familiar with are pretty decent and not over the top (Parasyte, Kuroshitsuji, Afro Samurai, Nana). But toothbrush scene from Monogatari blew away every single one of them: |

In general, it's difficult to say, since it's a rare thing to appear in modern (non-hentai)anime. I guess it all depends on the visuals, voice-acting, context behind it. If I saw a sex scene with NNT3 level of animation, high-pitched voice acting, and a "doing it because they can" type of reasoning, I would think such as unnecessarily bad. |

If we are talking about anime - I prefer not to see any sex scenes. They totally ruin my experience. Unless it's a guy-on-guy action - then I'm in, love them boys teasing me. |

One thing I like about anime is that very often adult shows don't seem to feel compelled to have the obligatory sex scene that seems so forced in so many Hollywood-style movies. Not that it doesn't have its silly conventions too, but at least you don't find yourself thinking "OK, this is the part where they have sex, because they have to." If there's a sex scene, generally it's for a purpose. |

The more recent sex scenes feel obligatory and I’m just there sitting there waiting for it to end. But if it serves the story then ok though admittedly even then I’m may not be fully comfortable with it being too explicit. And it’s more about knowing what I’m getting into. Not so much knowing every twist and turn but if it’s PG 13 and thinking of watching it with family then bam! sex scene, it’s pretty awkward. With anime and tags I know what I’m getting into and what I can consider watching with others. |

Sex scenes can be effective if they’re done right. I have yet to see an anime do them in a way that really showcases the passion and love each side has for the other; sex scenes should be able to tell a story in their own right. A certain show came close, but it didn’t go all the way. |

The first one that comes to mind is the one from white album 2 and the scene while not showing actual sex only implies that they are having sex and it is done kinda well. There are anime like kuzu no honkai, school days and stuff but I wouldn't wanna touch that (but even while these shows revolve around sex, the scenes aren't explicitly shown). |

In my experience of action-ecchi and hentei, they're just there to be there. Fun to watch when I'm horny, but noting that I'm completely enthralled by these days, especially with mosaic censoring being a thing. I can't speak on romance anime with sex scenes because I haven't really watched any. But it would be nice to know if any shows treat sex more with sensuality in mind, and that the characters involved have compelling enough stories, characterizations and chemistry with one another that really makes someone want to see their relationship blossom to that level. |

For the fun of it, I checked which anime I've watched that include a sex scene, are not primarily ecchi or exploitation genre, and got an "above average" rating from me. I was quite amazed how many really good anime include sex scenes of sorts:

(edit: point being that many shoujo romance storys are pretty unrealistic and just sparkle and perfect and everybody is happy and nothing controversial ever happens . wich isnt realistic for love at all ) you dont have to read stuff you dont like . nobody is forcing you . but just because you dont like something doesnt mean it doesnt belong in a story :) |

Basically young adult's slice of life, or isn't that what adults in love living together and planning to get married soon do?What's the point of a sex scene that isn't in hentai? Another example would be the homosexual Romeo and Juliet tragedy Fuyu no Semi. It's the romance between two samurai serving on opposing sites of the Meijin civil war, their coming out, and eventual tragedy due to what society does to homosexual lovers in that era. Or take Nana which is set in the rock music scene of Tokyo. It has two Nanas, one is a career musician, and the other is what can be called a super-groupie. And shockingly, rock musicians drink beer, smoke, and have one night stands. Just three examples from the 41 anime listed earlier, which deal with mature themes and mostly an all adult cast. This is not ecchi fap material, this is critically acclaimed adult drama. |

The last sex scene I have seen in an anime was in Devilman Crybaby, but that show was just so explicit with sex that it was just borderline funny at times, which showed the problem I had with sex scenes in live action stuff, Even when it fits the theme of a movie or show, it can last for so long or abruptly come(no pun intended) out of nowhere that Im just sitting there "oh okay i was watching a movie, but i dont mind watching porn in the middle of my action movie".And in the case of Devilman, it can just be super weird at times like in shows such as AHS or movies like Midsommar. |

have you ever watched that really cool hollywood film where a sex scene is just casually thrown in for the hell of it? That's how I generally see sex scenes in the majority of cases. The ones that I don't see it as off putting would be those that revolve around explicit content, like Ishuzoku Reviewers, the anime that made me forever question mayo bottles. |
