I've watched many anime since I started in 2014, and when I watch sometimes I do a quick Check for the Manga to see a certain scenes if it's exactly like the Manga or they just made it different or they just removed that certain scene, for example anime Plunderer episode 16 I have checked chapter 23/24 from the Manga and was a lot more darker and more bloody and also they cut some scenes like the striping scene, and other example Domestic na Kanojo the Manga was much more Mature and the story was much better than the anime,
In general alot of Manga has more bloody scenes and some great fanservice whatever the Genres is, but when it comes to Anime they just remove it from the anime and that's really sucks

Because it would be a faithful adaptation if they did that. You know the rules.

And it's even worse when you read the manga first. You realize that one scene is missing or was diffirent in the manga. UGH...

Because otherwise manga readers would be happy. We can't have that!

Beacuse every show can't be a late night anime.

Anime is normal just a advertising for the source material.

I don't know if you have seen Rosario + Vampire and checked the manga.
If you haven't done that, please do. I don't think it's fair to complain over a few scenes, it will happen in close to every adaption, it's about how much buffert they have for each eps and time.

But, back to Rosario + Vampire, this is a adaption where they toke the names of the characters in manga and used them in the anime. That's the only similarty the manga and anime has.

Because you're free to do whatever you want when you're adapting stuff. I always find it more interesting when adaptations diverge from the source material in some way. It shows that like, hey, this story can be potentially interpreted in all these different ways with just a bit of imagination, and it'll lead to all these cool, unique results. That's always more interesting to me than just, like, a straightforward adaptation.

Time, budget, maybe the author wants it different or the studio just thinks that it will be better if they make a few changes or in the case of Berserk, the manga might be a little too much (violence, gore, rape, etc...) to adapt it in its entirety.

I think there are just some scenes that would work better in a manga than an anime, but this doesn't apply to every scene, a lot of studios underpay their animators so we don't get quality anime

It's called censorship, there is a law in Japan,

it depends on what the scene is like they would have to change it and tone it down so that it is suitable to air on tv depending on the time slot

That goes for fanservice, but I think there are some channels in Japan that still air uncensored anime and digital , Blu-ray releases tend to uncensor the blood and fanservice

Because it's tv and you can't get away by doing everthing you want on it that's why some ecchi only get uncensored on blu ray release, only it would be a pain to adapt a manga panel by panel and sometimes it's just better to do it differently.

Animation is a completely different medium. Direct manga-to-anime adaptions would look like crap because they don't account for the same things. As for the lack of blood, if a show is airing on TV they need to meet certain age ratings and if the ratings board thinks something is too violent, it's either cut or censored to fit that rating.

It's alright to change the structure and narrative by cutting scenes, changing some lines and dialogues, switching the sequence of events of the source.......

Doesn't matter if the anime came to convey a different soul, or looks far different than it's source. As long as the context in the adaptation is coherent and it's pacing is reasonable and it uses the tools and privileges of being an anime for it's own aesthetics, it's already a good transformation in my book.

Also, faithful adaptation doesn't necessarily mean a good anime either. Look at one punch man s2, it's a decent adaptation using a scale of 1:1, the result was generic, and some would even claim that it's just trash. And also, if the source is terrible already then there's little hope that the anime could be better do even with a perfect adaptation.

I hope they don't ever, since sourcefa- I mean source purists tend to be a blight

Anything that inconveniences them is something that's a net gain

Sometimes, adaptations must change somethings from the original material to improve the passing or maintain a tone for a scene. But of course there will always be censorship in the cases of blood and nudity.

Its curious, but I actually like to see what they change from the source material, because it shows the thought process of the director in what was necessary for the story, or what they wanted to convey. There are even works were I prefer the adaptation than the original material.

Depends though. Eg in Made in Abyss , the manga scene was much more violent depicting the notorious scene in detail.

Yet the anime worked better because they added motion and character screams from pain.

No wonder if you read the manga first you'll wonder why so many people were shocked. Manga scene had hardly any impact on me.

Same with Narutaru which had another notorious scene, though there manga scene was also very shocking.

I don't read manga, so I don't mind it...Reading requires brainpower, whereas watching is mindless.
I fear not the man who has watched 10,000 animes once, but I fear the man who has watched one anime 10,000 times.

It would be too hard to adapt everything and often adapting everything wouldn’t fit a weekly episodic series causing the end result to be bad. There need to be compromises when adapting things and those come in changes to some scenes.

The contemporary Apex of Art, namely Animation and Video in the forms of series and films, has its own benefits and restrictions. Need to provide a stable, coherent connection between every frame opens up some possibilities and closes the others. Hopefully this provides some insight to start thinking for an answer.

Telling stories on a written page or with still images is not the same as moving animation on a screen. Changed are inevitable amd mostly needed.

I think it's unreasonable to expect anime adaptations to "follow the Manga in every single scene"

There can be many reasons why, but one reason is in manga you can get away with a lot more stuff, meanwhile when it is an anime that is broadcasted on tv things become censored, especially gore/sex.

You know, you could imaginably search out the answer on the internet, think for yourself how that'd be an unimaginably poor idea most of the time or possibly that manga is not an animated medium done in a 25-minute format but I'll let you have this.

I'll pray that any adaption you watch deviates from the original, just to piss you off.

Because there are many things that work well in a comic book format that would not work well in a TV or movie format. Many people here, and some anime studios as well, need to get that through their heads.
