What the hell is that book?! Why it's so expensive?

I actually looked it up in the internet, the author is considered one of the greatest writers in japan history, which is awesome alright, but no idea why the book would cost ~50k yen. Maybe it's some old print?

If it's a special edition printing, the price it gets listed at can become quite high.

Of course, what it's listing at when dealing with antiquarian works is the price at which it has not sold... of more interest, if you have one you desire to sell in short order, is the prices at which the last several copies sold; that's the real market price, if one desires to sell in short order. The price it's currently listing for is of interest if you really do have to purchase a copy now, as you won't be able to wait for a lower price to appear.

It was a good episode. Joro's initial reaction to Tsubaki looks like it could have been correct. But I'm not sure why she would have a grudge against him if he bought all those skewers from her stall.

1) she had to cook all of them in a short period of time.
2) the sales figures for the game were very skewed as a result of this sale.
3) might that tie in with her parent's expanding and opening a second location?

The new location would cause stress no matter what. If the calculations indicating it would be profitable were based upon invalid data, and she's aware this is the case, being unhappy with the one who caused the skewed data wouldn't be completely nuts.

However, I'm inclined to suspect there is something else involved. Just what, well, that's up in the air just now.

I do agree with some of the others that the two girls who "found" the book are suspicious.
Suspicious or not, we're sure to see them again, as the author doesn't seem to be the type to throw Chekhov's Gun under the bus. There's too much character development already for them to be throwaways.

Our favorite fuckboi will be in trouble again; those 2 girls in the street are very suspicious, everything points to a new plot! I can't wait to see things escalate and then somehow blow over for Joro lol.

And that fucking baseball game! Still causing ripples in the present...

My theory is that Tsubaki planned the whole thing with the book and twins so she would have a reason to get him a job at her shop. For what reason, weather it is so she can get him away from the other girls or for a more nefarious reason, Im still not sure yet.

Well, with Joro's luck, I'm starting to think that Tsubaki may have destroyed the book, knowing its worth; forcing Joro to get a job and then offer him the job position. Perhaps she is a stalker as well.

After last week's blunder, this was a significant improvement again. However, the whole set-up for Joro to end up at the shop is a little strange: on the one hand, after the two girls went to search for the book, the camera panned to a skirt from Joro's school, which could imply Tsubaki's involvement; on the other hand, I don't see how Tsubaki could have instigated Joro losing the book in the first place, as that relies on his carelessness and on Himawari jumping on him in her usual aggressive fashion (if not slightly more so than usual).

In a way, I'm hoping that Tsubaki isn't hiding something like every other character so far, as it kind of becomes boring and predictable when we expect a twist with every new character (though at least the show got some comedy out of that with Joro's meta-awareness of the plot structure).

There must be an ulterior motive by Tsubaki. But I wonder what that is (pls don't spoil). We got introduced by Ram and Rem at this episode. They were there when Himawari bumped to Jorou. I'm pretty sure they're the culprit for thrashing that book.

What book is that btw? Does that exist in real life?

SkyLETV said:
Oh, so the new girl isn't the one Sun-chan mentioned before, but she's also part of the damn baseball game... and of course she has ulterior motives, it would be shocking if not.

Give me that tsundere love, Sasanqua. I love her, her design, her personality, I have a weakness for Sasanqua <3

Cosmos is great, too <3.

Rem and Ram finally showed up. And if I heard right, Ram is voiced by Risa Taneda... YESSSSSS!!!!!!!

You, my friend.... is truly a man of culture. We both have the same weaknesses against tsundere and senpai... I want more sasanqua screentime tbh. She needs to be explored.

Ok new episode and this Tsubaki girl has already caused a real shitstorm.

I definitely laughed my ass off at Joro being suspicious as hell of her, despite the fact that she is fundamentally everything he has wished for since the beginning LMAO.

And then she goes and throws a wrench into everything (poor Cosmos).

And the book thing was interesting. Too bad about the book (wtf did it get stained with blood?) but it helps move the plot with Joro away from Pansy and to Tsubaki, which is bound to cause more chaos. I'm liking this new arc.

A lot of moving parts in this episode. So the new girl is another person that Joro met a the baseball game. While Tsubaki might appear genuine, Joro suspects that she might have an agenda for coming to his school. I'm curious to find out how those two girls found that book out of nowhere and how it leads to Joro working for Tsubaki. The timing of all seems a little to convenient for her.

I just rewatched the scene where Pansy gives him the book and the book which was 'retrieved' from those girls. It sorta doesn't add up...

1. The book she gives him is in pristine condition, no sign of wear at all. Whereas the one they find at night has what seems like wear and tear on all corners of the book both the front and the back. Not something you'd find with someone simply 'trashing a book'.

2. Those stains are just too bizzare to be simply it being 'roughed up'. Also the way Pansy reacted to the wrecked book wasn't a way which I'd think someone would act if their item was truly wrecked. She also described the book as some old 'battered' book without care.

My hypothesis, this book is a different book entirely to the one which Pansy gave to Joro.

I thought the interaction between Joro and Pansy at the end of the episode was the best part. I had though Pansy would actually be quite happy that Joro cares so much about her book he's willing to get a job to buy her a new one. Which while sweet Pansy just really wants to spend time with Joro, but Joro's pride does not allow it. Like I expected a more heartfelt moment but it was pretty serious at the end of the episode.

Yeah the Twins have me interested. They watched Joro trip and lost the book out of his bag. Did they mess the book up? What are their motives?

We know they said someone they know owns the book so do they know Pansy or is it a coincidence?

Either way their introduction to the anime is quite interesting.
i think Tsubaki is friends with Rem and Ram and was her plan. Maybe Tsubaki is the one Pansy was hiding her identity from.

Tsubaki is aware Beautiful Form Pansy exists, but she might not know Nerdy Pansy is beautiful Pansy. (Though all forms of Pansy are beautiful) But her being friends with the twins and having the, mess up the book could confirm she knows all of Pansy's forms.

Idk next weeks episode will be interesting.

Yes, and the way they were speaking to him, with one more reluctant to get involved than the other, was certainly quite suspicious. They were certainly hiding something. I keep thinking that we will get the Pansy conclusion but I really hope we will be in for a surprise.

Just re-watched the later part, starting with the collision itself.

1) Yes, the two girls were watching when the collision occurred. The view is from between them, their hairstyles are so distinctive. Thus, the odds are very high that they have some knowledge of the subsequent events involving the book, whether they were directly involved or not. Given their awareness of the value of the book when they "retrieved" it for Joro, I can't see their picking it up, trashing it, and merrily waiting for him to come looking for it so they can return it to him in that condition, all for the lulz. So... did the book have any markings on it which would identify it's owner? If so, does it happen that they know Pansy? Continuing down that path, what is the nature of their relationship to her?

2) New Girl didn't really look suspicious at the end. That looked like a very sincere expression that this did give her the opportunity to do something meaningful to aid Joro as he had aided her. Despite that, we all know she's got some odd quirk to her; Joro does not hang out with anyone who could be called normal, after all.

Idk it just seems like she's always the one scheming and this wouldnt have happened if she didnt give him some expensive book in the first place so it just seems a bit too coincidental that he loses the important book she gave him day 1. Its like she planned for this to happen.

Decent episode this week and after watching for a second time, I've realized a few things.

This is just speculation but I believe that there's one of two possibilities to explain how the book got battered the way it did:

1) Pink and Blue already had a damaged copy of the book in their possession and happened to stumble across Amatsuyu's (well Sumireko's) copy that was in pristine condition; they just happened to give him the damaged copy after they came back from their search. I mean it's an anime and anything is possible (I mean we've seen Bench-kun) but no one is going to conveniently have: (1) the address of a bookstore that sells the book or (2) know off hand the development cost of Shenmue and equate the book's cost to 1/100,000 th of the developmental cost. And we saw Pink's reaction to Joro's comments about the importance of the book to him when they gave him the battered copy; something's fishy here but we'll just have to wait and see

2) When Amatsuyu first interacted with Pink and Blue (jeez Ram and Rem at this point), Blue had a cup of Boba in her hand so idk if when they went to search, the cup of tea happened to spill on the book when they found it; could be accidental or malicious, who knows we'll just have to wait and see.

I really like Tsubaki ngl, I just hope that her personality is genuine.

UGH, ARE WE BACK TO REVOLVING AROUND THAT ONE BASEBALL GAME??? Seems like everyone is CONNECTED THERE for some reason or another...OH THE RAMPANT SINGULARITY!!!

So Chiyoda "Tsubaki" Yoki, the new girl into Joro's harem, seems like the typical nice person at first glance, but the sensible person would be wise to have one step forward, MANY STEPS BACKWARDS (as seen with Asunaro back then). That "knightly kiss" sure is a display of affection, but it immediately rubs the wrong way for those related to Joro.

And NO MATTER how Joro tries to expose Tsubaki's notions, her "angel likeness" will always shut his thoughts down. How will she fare against the other girls...

HAHA Cosmos wanna one-up the feeding game but Tsubaki shot her down, just as quick as a fast folding excuse.

Just as the stalker-face she is, Pansy is quick on the uptake of the things between Joro, Tsubaki and the other girls.

BUT, what's the deal with the 2 outsider girls...I can only sense more danger encroaching.

HAH Pansy's book costing 1/100,000th the cost of Shenmue? I did not want to think the actual cost, but that's not a lot of change though...probably for exaggeration. But for Joro, even ONE book is enough to be obstinate over getting another one to pay Pansy back via part-time jobs, which explain his character and emotions over lots of choices, but with a twist.

And to make matters worse, Tsubaki's "true payback"? Just wanna know what's in store for Joro.

The book part with Pansy is getting interesting... Can't wait for the next episode.

it was a set up but not by Pansy but the new girl, there was some1 watching when book went missing and when the 2girls helped to find it and i think that this some1 is the new girl
