An episode about Mana...but we find out more about why she feels the way she does after meeting Aone.

Everyone has their own reasons for reacting to certain situations I guess. Not too surprising.

Aone is actually a nice person so the fear of her sister is misplaced.

However, the idol club at the main branch has some fierce competition, but still bullying Mana out of the main branch for not being as good as Aone is very uncalled for. Everyone did make it just in time and the performance was pretty decent.

That was beautifully done, i got emotional over the second half.

The performance had really good animation, i'm interested if the studio can actually follow up but this was a great surprise.

From the looks of it, the girls from the main branch are bitter of Mana's skills because it outshines the rest of them bitches. Sure, Aone is better, than Mana, but as Sayu said she has that charm that makes you keep watching her. But thank goodness Sayu help her get back on her feet.

And finally, the performance that I've been waiting for came. I thought the drama would dragged on and push the performance next episode. After that drama it got me emotional watching them shine on stage because I really want to see a 2D idol performance again. Great performance from the girls. Need to watch it once again.

Yeah. I thought that they'll show only few seconds of their performance or use garbo CG.

That's perhaps one the things I like the most about this show. A lot of anime idol shows can learn from this compaired with the few ones I've seen so far, imo.

The whole episode and the performance were so frigging good. Can't hold all those feels ;_;

One of the best shows this season and criminally underrated.

when people are crowding around taking pics of someone, Mana had the idea right away it might be her Aono-nee chan. xD

Mana's older sis is actually a nice person. Hmm, and Kirare dance was really good.

5/5 looking forward to next episode :)

I don't undestand what happened with mana, so she was too skilled for the main branch so they bullied her or she wasn't good enough for them because they said she wasn't as good as aone?, I'm confused...

apparently, she was bullied because she's good. I got to that conclusion because one of the girls said their dreams won't wome true because Mana is there.

remember that this is the main branch of Mareboshi, literally the top idol school of Japan (in re:stage universe). many otherwise talented girls fail to pass the entrance examination. in the novel, Mii almost made it, but failed the final interview. it is a tough school to get into, which means peple who are admitted are expected to meet very high standards. in particular, they are expected to be far better than average when it comes to singing and dancing. Mana was able to get into the school in large part thanks to her famous older sister, who is a member of the most popular school idol band - Stella Maris. it was her sister who went and invited Mana to the idol club, which Mana accepted without much serious toughts. although her singing and dancing wasnt bad per see, her performance was average, and everyone in the club noticed that. that is, they questioned why someone who is average was able to get into the academy. the anime shows this in a way more dramatic way, while in the novel, the other girls only speak in murmur.
this episode shows why Mana ran away from the main branch and gave up on being an idol.

everything i posted was shown the anime, with the exception of the last part, which can be inferred easily. (well, Mana does join the club by herself, but that is a minor change).

Mana wasn't that great at dancing and singing when she joined the Mareboshi idol club - as Sayu pointed out. the club members noticed that as soon as Mana started dancing. the dramatic "i wish you had never joined this club" strongly implies that Mana's average performance turned out to be a handicap for the idol club, and that the idol group ended up losing in an idol competition (this dramatic scene is an anime exclusive), probably against Stella Maris. now, what exactly led to the crying scene, it is unclear. it doesnt seem to make sense on a practical standpoint: if they were aware of Mana's limited skills, there would be little reason for them to make Mana participate in the competition and lose. it seems to be a dramatic scene for the sake of making the episode more interesting and nothing more.

There isn't much you can do with the limited time of an anime episode, and limited episode count, too.
we've had this cut for vn and ln anime adaptation all the time. And Re:Stage project's game story has always been on the heavier (heavy as in lots of text) side.

The screenplay has always been messy, personally, but they addressed the most important element, the vibe the feeling of each part, each plot point. So I think we should be a bit more lenient on this.

Thanks for the info, DreamingBeats. the episode doesn't seem to properly tell this.

I'm surprised that she's seen as average even though she's totally in sync with Sayu despite learning the song and dance so quickly. I can't stop watching their dance in episode 1.

Amazing performance by KiRaRe.

Poor Mana. Her backstory was so sad, but fortunately everything is better now and she can share her dream with her new friends.
