| UBW has better fight animation and a more satisfying ending, but Zero wins everything else, so Zero overall. Also, this may be more personal opinion, but UBW had better characters to me. They weren't exactly great, but Zero's characters were so underutilized. I can't remember anything Rin's dad really did, the Matou guy was eh, Kiritsugu is somehow more bland than Shirou since at least Shirou was too into the idea of justice that it actually became interesting seeing how it was actually part of his conflict against Archer. I also never liked Kirei, even with his backstory being revealed. |

| Plot: Fate Zero > Fate UBW: the plots are similar in that the characters are aiming to either stop or win the holy grail, but what makes Fate Zero more intriguing for me is that it shows how the characters all have different agendas and are doing their own things. Fate UBW is more straightfoward in that it mainly shows how things are going in mainly just Shirou and Rin's POV. Characters: Fate Zero > Fate UBW: Shirou's characterization and development is lame compared to Kiritsugu's. Kiritsugu has an intriguing background of why he wants to stop the war and has the will and power to do it. Shirou is a wannabe Kiritsugu and just screams justice BS throughout the whole show while not doing much until the end. Saber in Fate Zero is shown as a more independent and strong woman while in Fate UBW she is shown more as a sidekick of Shirou. Most, if not all, of the servants and masters are more interesting in Fate Zero, especially Gilgamesh and best bros Alexander and Waver. All in all Fate Zero characters have much more depth to them. Fight Scenes: Fate Zero > Fate UBW: Compare Gilgamesh vs. Berserker, Gilgamesh vs. Rider, and Kiritsugu vs. Kirei to the fights in Fate UBW. Nuff said. Although Fate UBW fights are top notch as well, just not if you compare it to the ones in Fate Zero. Idk I might be being a little biased as I haven't watched both in a while and don't remember some details but whatever. Overall Fate Zero is better than Fate UBW, no contest. |

| Zero is just a fanfic with all its good points stolen from the original work. Also the only noteworthy waifu it really added was Irisviel, when Extella at least has actual new waifu servants. Franchise is really only worth for the VN which has actual mystery and suspense elements, that Zero spoils and did not make up itself and the gacha waifus. The anime are not really worth it. |

| I also think that Zero is better. Even if I like UBW in it's own right, one can feel it's Shounen from it, and it's not helping it, along with Shirou not being very likeable protagonist. On the other hand Zero is better in just about every aspect other than animation. It's also helping it that being Seinen, it's more free in being mature. |

| UBW is terms of fights and plot. Probably Zero for characters, but UBW also had some interesting characters But Heaven's feel is much better from both Zero and UBW |

| Didn't like Zero that much (2nd half at least was better). It was okay, but took itself way too seriously, and for a battle royale, the battles were pretty meh. Unlimited Blade Works was definitely better, in my opinion. |
| UBW is boring with boring characters and Zero has a bunch of interesting chars and dialogues. Since I care about the characters it isn't a hard choice for me. |

| As someone who liked both, I don't think this is even a competition. Fate/Zero is objectively and infinitely better than Fate/Stay Night UBW could ever even dream to be and that is not a phrase that I like to toss around much. |
