This episode wasn't a tearjerker for me but it was an amazingly beautiful episode.
Both the story and the visuals were amazing.
The sound effects were almost bone chilling, especially when she made contact with the water during those "three steps" she made.
Also the character voices were amazing. Great voice acting. Absolutely wonderful. The music was amazing as well... really puts you in the moment.

Okay, NOW things are getting good. I can't handle these parent-child stories, so this one and the wedding episode made me very emotional. Also, we all know the major will be alive right? When a body isn't found in anime, it pretty much means the character is alive.

when violet jump across the lake i looked and WTF she could managed it ?? and when she fell i thought , of course not , lol its a lake. Btw what's the disease that the daughter had ? she look so thin and and old . and i guess its time for violet to know about gilbert , is he alive or dead ? read some spoiler in comment above said

The disease is apparently hereditary, and involves clogging in blood vessels. That is why her mother died early as well. The name of the disease is not mentioned. Here's a quote from Chapter 1 in the novel:

"The cause of Oscar’s wife’s death had been illness. Its name was too lengthy, to the point one would give up trying to pronounce it. Simply put, it was the rapid clotting of blood vessels and death by clogging. Moreover, it was hereditary, and his wife had inherited it from her father. As she had become an orphan due to the high mortality rate in her family, he had only come to find out the harsh truth regarding his wife, who had been lonely from her lack of relatives, after she was gone."

As for your 2nd question,

Oh, that's nice. I hadn't thought of it at all before, that her having and understanding more emotions would lead to a change on how she views her past... Maaan, what a harsh realization for her :(

Also, all this time she had been talking in flat tone (except in some occassions), but her voice when she stormed Claudia's room, wow. Emotion (and rage maybe?) can really be heard, and that was really cool.

You should be able to understand what it means to be having the power of imagination which is important for writers. It has nothing to do with reality. Just because she said something like that doesn't mean Olivia was an idiot. She was an inspiration for Oscar not as the only hope in his life, she gave him the power to imagine as a writer.

It may not come across, but Olivia was already diagnosed with a disease which was incurable. You think Oscar would shout Olivia by her name just seeing her lose her balance from a gust of wind while holding the umbrella? When she was saying that, both the father and the daughter knew how little time they might have left to be together.

Watch the episode carefully again to see what's actually going on.

I am really surprised how so many of us missed how much of Oscar's story was actually conveyed in those 15 minutes of content. I think the anime was lacking in direction a lot in the earlier episodes, but this episode was by far the best single episode of the entire season of all the ongoing anime.

I love how this show is getting criticized for being too boring and slow, and now finally when the pacing is actually pretty fine it's now being deemed as rushed...

The show focuses on the development of Violet, and instead of Violet developing by writing for others, she develops through the firsthand experiences of the characters she is writing for themselves. I really have enjoyed the diverse situations she has gone through and seeing her slowly show more emotion and understand what it's like "being human".

Also why the hate on the show having an episodic format? Anyone seen Death Parade?

This episode was absolutely stunning, and we got to see even more of how much Violet has grown throughout the series. Was sad to see Violet crying, but it was also heart-warming to see her being able to express that emotion. Onion-cutting ninjas got me pretty bad this time around too but I absolutely loved this episode. Amazing ♡

Since it's chronological.. I've been waiting to see this adapted

IDK why.. but the pure aesthetic concepts we're either plain to me.. in this ep. or it isn't way exaggerate when Violet certainly floats on amidst the lake by walking into alluring with sincere peculiar scenario plus wearing the same outfit tho.. why they didn't change it -_-

Might as well Re-read it.. it's way too vivid.. what a way to start..

If it does, it will add more. It's already well on course to maintain the ranking throughout the season as AOTS in Japan. The last three episodes really did the trick. Now boasting a significant 1.1 points difference with Yuru Camp and 1.2 with Sora yori. That's pretty significant for an ongoing anime. I am expecting it to hit around 78 or 79 pts by the end of the season, which would probably keep it as one of the Top 5 TV anime of 2018 according to fans in Japan.

This show is doing a really great job in showing Violet's slow transition into actually understanding and using emotions, and the fact that she was crying, as well as showing intrigue and interest all in the same episode is pretty crazy

The reason I enjoyed the source material was because of all the relatable situations involving death, and how themes of death and grief were explored. So it is nice that we got some of what drew me to the LNs.

The anime is clearly doing its own thing, and that is alright, but I am not the biggest fan. The animation for me is the biggest selling point, especially this last episode. The water, and just autumn as a season was so visually appealing.

Good god what a beautiful, beautifully memorable episode.

This is a textbook example of how execution matters. Broken down to its bits, it's a simple father with a deceased daughter story, with no additional twist or turn. But that scene! It almost made me cry and I know I'm not the only one who felt that way. I just don't know how they top this one.

LOLZ! As soon as Violet knew the truth on what happened to Major Gilberto she went into denial!
The only redeeming factor of this episode is the very astounding OST of this show especially on the part where Violet walked three steps on the leaf floating on top of the water!

For the most part I didn't care for this episode. The last few minutes were good and worth watching.

In the beginning, Violet is getting requested more because of the royal letters...which she didn't write. That's logical.

The walking on water was just too much. Has this suddenly gone into magical realism?

Great plan Claudia, let Violet learn to have emotions so she'll feel pain when she finds out Gilbert is dead.

Main story had as noted by everyone one of the single prettiest shots ever, simple but attractive plot, clever linking motifs, but was waaay too fast for its own good. Still probably best week yet for me. Last few minutes were great, though maybe it could have been better handled a bit slower too.

Some BR2049 vibes maybe.

Some striking resemblances...

We're seeing a ton of development and reflection from Violet, this heart-wrenching story about the writer and his daughter, and the big reveal about the major to Violet all at once. Talk about a powerful episode.
