That is one powerful wind...

Shikadai is such a tough kid this episode. I have to admire his fighting spirit. And with a bit of help from Boruto, the two makes a neat duo. (similar to Naruto and Shikamaru from the original series).

Proud of what he did this epsiode.

It was predictable that Gekko actually killed Ryogi’s parents but I didn’t realise that he had tricked Ryogi using genjutsu.

I hope Ryogi actually plays some sort of role in the future.

This was badass!

This was a really good episode compared to previous ones.

The action scenes were amusing to watch especially the Shikadai and Boruto vs Ryougi, I can finally praise Studio Pierrot for the animation there.

4/5 It was an finally enjoyable episode.

It was predictable that the boss-guy killed Ryogi's parents, but I didn't expect anything else. It was an enjoyable episode.

It's strange how Boruto almost killed Shikadai, and afterwards Boruto is not even sorry.

Next episode the Chunnin exam arc is getting started finally. I already forgot most of the movie, so I'm fine with it.

My goodness!!! What an episode!
The animations, actions, powers,...were excellent, fabulous! Ryogi is definitely awesome!
But who's the star of our show? Yup, its NARUTO!!!!!!!!!! Oh God! That clip for a second was enough for an orgasm for an Otaku!

This is really getting past believable. Boruto, even under genjutsu, was aiming to seriously harm presumable enemy, which he has not expressed any intention to do yet. This is getting me borderline.
Everything is really convenient when it comes to this particular story arc... I hope they step their game up, considerably so.

naruto fans know that orange hue all to well

the episode was a rollercoaster of good and bad animation, but overall it was pretty standard.
"BUT WHY, OH WHY CAN'T THEY CREATE AN ANTAGONIST... THEY ALWAYS ATTEMPT TO EXCUSE A CHARACTERS BEHAVIOUR AND MAKE THEM SOUND LIKE THEY'RE A GOOD PERSON HAVING A ROUGH TIME e.g. ryogi was under genjutsu and it wasn't his own fault for the those happenings
CAN'T THEY ONCE AGAIN TRY TO JUSTIFY THE REASON WHY THEY'RE BAD"

naruto (the anime*) had this trouble of reusing a jutsu over and over, and boruto (the anime*) is doing the exact same; worst thing is, there's no attempt to switch it up... i.e. thrusting a teammate through that wind jutsu.
*= the anme in general, notthe characters; stupid anime titling the show with the same name as its main character... a step up for orginality that was.

AND WHEN Shikamaru, sorry. Shikadai fought ryogi i dont get how those ice projectiles just scratched... there shouldve been at least a little piercing (or is this cause of censoring issues and that'd be a little gory) -but anyways, way to tone down the action

on a higher note, we're drawing closer and closer to the chunin exam... 'yaaay' XDXD

P.S.
was this guy part of the konohamaru gang, i honestly cna't remember

This was so dumb last episode Naruto couldn't sense them because of all the people in the city (total bs btw) and now he suddenly can I mean I understand that they have to restrict narutos abilities or he can just solve everything in a second but at least put some thought into how you do it.
This entire series just makes me violently angry the only reason why I still watch it is because I want to see Sakura die

Such a great episode! In terms of character development, this arc did a fantastic job in fleshing out Shikadai's character. Introducing Ryogi was a great move too. I really like his character and he's genuinely the first new character outside of the new generation that has impressed me.

Really hope he can play a role in the future arcs. Chunin Exam maybe? Wishful thinking.

5/5.

The movie arc will most certainly be changed and expanded on. It won't be a retelling story-wise, you'll see familiar stuff, but that's about it. With the addition of Urashiki, you'll definitely be in store for new content. Also, we have new characters from the main cast (Iwabe, Denki etc) who weren't in the Chunin exams. I don't think the matches will be the same either. Expect major changes.

Good ep to finish the arc, ryogi didn't die and naruto saves the day.
Boruto being weak to genjutsu is good but of course it will useless once he awakens his special byakugan thing.

Everything about this was predictable, even the part where Naruto chases down the train.
To think this whole thing could have been avoided and dealt with in minutes if these characters stopped acting like edgy kids trying to prove themselves, and actually showed some maturity and responsibility, and got help. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On a positive note: this definitely felt like one of the better animated episodes in some time, not as many derpy faces as usual.

So they put a 12 year old who was put under a genjutsu and manipulated, in jail...? What!?

Sumire actually tried to kill everybody. Straight up premeditated terrorism. But she came back like ain't shit happened. But they really put Ryogi who at his worst only committed non-violent offenses like robbery, all while being manipulated, in jail...

Their justice system is mind boggling.

Shikadai punching Boruto back was priceless! Naruto doing Hokage stuff/protecting the village (that is what I wanted to see in this show)… damn, he cooked the bastard real fast Lol!

On a side note:
One thing that I liking more and more about Boruto is the tag-team/co-op ninja techniques that he & friends are doing in this series Naruto had them and Shippūden used it at the end so I like to see them again and I hope the series elaborate them more.

Well the action was pretty good in this episode but idk how to feel about Naruto showing up at the end and taking care of everything in a second. Sure, I love it when the OG characters show up, but seeing Naruto do that makes this whole arc feel kind of wasted. Like, he legit could have taken care of everything several episodes ago...but then again, this show is all about letting the kids shine.

It was obvious that Gekko was the one who killed Ryogi's parents, but damn, he even went a step further and put him under a genjutsu. Thankfully this arc is over and now we're finally heading into the chunin exam.

I highly doubt it. Studio Pierrot change openings every 6 months. Knowing that the Momoshiki arc starts in April and by that time, that'll be exactly 25 episodes with this current opening so it might change then.

Putting Ryogi in jail is stupid.

He's a kid, only participated in acts of robbery/theft, all while being under a genjutsu and he's jailed? Like really, with that logic Sumire should've gotten life sentence.

Episode was ok compared to what we had before, but jailing Ryogi ruined it.

Edit: It's be great if Naruto actually used shadow clone to catch that Byakuya boss to show how OP he is compared to everyone even more.

Of course Gekko dude killed his parents ! There is no other logic solution!
Naruto still got the power!

I found the fight between Rygoi Boruto and Shikadai to be sorta boring but it still good!
Also rygoi is jail? When he was being manipulated ... uggg the police for is dumb... y’all didn’t lock Sasuke up and he did worse!

Okay end to the arc! Seems like the arc is Chunin exams.... I always love tournament arc

/frustrated sigh

this was shaping up to be a pretty solid episode ignoring some of the more unbelievable moments during the fighting, but then they put rhogi in jail.

even putting my bias for him aside, as other users have pointed out, the punishment really didn’t fit the crime. not only were his victims minimally harmed, if at all, he was also brainwashed throughout the entire affair. sumire caused great harm (possibly with casualties? i can’t remember) which culminated in threatening the entire village and she barely got a slap on the hand and was able to resume her life as if nothing ever happened.

and while i hope to see him receive justice in the future, as an anime-exclusive character with minimal impact on the overarching plot that seems unlikely to happen.

i was incredibly hyped about this episode too.

Really enjoyed this story arc even if it ended on a bit of a predictable note, though the way Ryogi was imprisoned doesn't make much sense to me and has me wondering if he'll play a role later. It was great Shikadai got a starring role alongside Boruto this arc as well, I really enjoyed the dynamic they had in the beginning of the anime too like when they worked together with Mitsuki to take down Shino.

The animation was pretty amazing during the fight scenes but that's pretty normal for Boruto at this point, I'm never really disappointed by this series it's been an amazing follow up to Shippuden. I like how they decided to introduce the "Scientific Ninja Tools" that get a spotlight in the next arc.

Hmm Genjutsu eh. Boruto sure is weak to those. Shikadai's determination to help his friend though is admirable. As expected the boss was the real villain. That Genjutsu though was really something though. The price for Boruto's help though sure was hilariously cheap though. Still its nice to see that Naruto managed to stop the villain's train though. Nice to see this arc ended well enough and its nice to see Shikadai get some development.

This arc was flawed beyond being bearable. You're telling me people who fought against Itachi and Sasuke couldn't detect the most basic level of genjutsu even a genin could stuck on the peoples' necks? Also Naruto 'couldn't detect' them, come on now- he detected every human being's emotion through a waterfall meant to block everything from the outside during the war. Let alone they resolved the moral dilemma of 'novelty stealing' by making their boss unmistakably evil rather than taking the time to expose the moral faults of stealing regardless from whom. Anyone know when the plot is gonna progress? Since the first shadow arc with Boruto's eye literally NOTHING has happened, even the eye itself vanished for the last 40 episodes...

They pulled it off. I figured they'd finally fail a mission but that's not the case just yet but I'm not complaining.

The gang got beat fair and square and I want Ryogi to have a good part in the village like the class pres does.

That commercial about the upcoming chuunin exam is making me soo hyped!

The science jutsu book is showing so much foreshadowing for really goof unique jutsu in the future for all these "same ole jutsu blah blah" people.
